Jeremias 22

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Eis o que me diz o Senhor: Desce ao palácio do rei de Judá, e lá pronunciarás este oráculo:	1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,
2 Ouve a palavra do Senhor, rei de Judá, que ocupas o trono de Davi, tu, teus servos e teu povo que entrais por essas portas.	2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.
3 Eis o que diz o Senhor: Praticai o direito e a justiça, e livrai o oprimido das mãos do opressor. Não deixeis o estrangeiro sofrer vexames e violências, nem o órfão e a viúva, nem derrameis neste lugar sangue inocente.	3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.
4 Se obedecerdes fielmente a esta ordem, continuarão a passar pelas portas deste palácio os reis herdeiros do trono de Davi, montados em carros e cavalos, com seus servos e seu povo.	4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.
5 Se, porém, não escutardes estas palavras, juro-o por mim mesmo - palavra do Senhor -, será reduzido a escombros este palácio.	5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!
6 Porque eis o oráculo do Senhor sobre o palácio do rei de Judá: Eras a meus olhos como os montes de Galaad, qual o cimo do Líbano. Juro, porém, que te vou transformar em solidão, num deserto.	6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.
7 Preparo contra ti destruidores, munidos de seus instrumentos, que abaterão teus cedros mais formosos, e os lançarão ao fogo.	7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.
8 Muitos pagãos, ao passarem perto desta cidade, uns aos outros hão de dizer: Por que assim tratou o Senhor esta grande cidade?	8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?
9 E ser-lhes-á respondido: Porque seus habitantes abandonaram a aliança com o Senhor, seu Deus, prosternando-se ante outros deuses e a eles rendendo culto.	9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '
10 Não choreis o morto, nem por ele vos lamenteis. Chorai, chorai antes sobre aquele que parte, e que não voltará mais, nem tornará a ver o país natal.	10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.
11 Porque assim fala o Senhor a respeito de Selum, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que reinava em lugar do pai, e partiu desse lugar: Não voltará mais para ali.	11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it
12 Morrerá no local do seu exílio, sem jamais rever a pátria.	12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.
13 Ai daquele que para si construiu esse palácio por meios desonestos, e seus salões, violando a eqüidade. Ai daquele que faz seu próximo trabalhar sem paga, e lhe recusa o salário!	13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,
14 E daquele que diz: Vou mandar construir suntuosa morada, salões espaçosos, com largas janelas e revestimento de cedro, e pinturas de vermelho.	14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.
15 Julgas ter o posto de rei porque rivalizas {no emprego} do cedro? Também teu pai comia e bebia, praticava a justiça e a eqüidade, e tudo lhe era próspero.	15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.
16 Julgava a causa do pobre e do infeliz, e tudo lhe era próspero. Não é isso conhecer-me? - oráculo do Senhor.	16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.
17 Mas teus olhos e teu coração não procuraram senão satisfazer tua cobiça, derramar o sangue do inocente e exercer a opressão e a violência.	17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'
18 Eis, portanto, o oráculo do Senhor sobre Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá: não haverá lamentações por ele: Ai, meu irmão! Ai, minha irmã! Nem o chorarão, dizendo: Ai, Senhor! Ai, majestade!	18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"
19 Sua pompa fúnebre será qual a do asno, e o arrastarão, jogando-o para fora das portas de Jerusalém.	19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'
20 Sobe ao Líbano e clama em altas vozes, fazendo-as ressoar por Basã. Clama do alto do monte Aborim, porque teus amantes foram esmagados.	20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!
21 Falei-te no tempo de tua prosperidade, disseste-me, porém: Não te ouvirei. Pois é este teu costume desde a juventude, não escutas a minha voz.	21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.
22 Serão teus pastores pasto dos ventos, e teus amantes serão levados ao cativeiro. A vergonha e a confusão serão tua partilha, por causa de tua malícia.	22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.
23 Tu que moras no Líbano e fazes teu ninho nos cedros, quanto haverás de gemer, presa das dores, e das convulsões semelhantes às da mulher ao dar à luz!	23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!
24 Pela minha vida! - oráculo do Senhor -, ainda que Conias, filho de Joaquim, rei de Judá, fosse um anel em minha mão direita, eu o arrancaria!	24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!
25 Entregar-te-ei aos que odeiam a tua vida, àqueles que temes, a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e aos caldeus.	25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.
26 Lançar-te-ei, a ti e à tua mãe que te pôs no mundo, em terra que não é a vossa terra natal, e onde morrereis.	26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.
27 E à terra a que aspiram, não tornarão a voltar.	27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'
28 Acaso será Conias algum traste desprezível, que ninguém mais tem em conta? Por que são repelidos, ele e sua raça, e atirados a uma terra que não conhecem?	28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?
29 Terra, terra, terra, escuta a palavra do Senhor. Eis o que diz o Senhor:	29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!
30 Inscrevei este homem entre os que não deixaram descendência, entre aqueles que coisa alguma lograram em vida! Pois que ninguém de sua raça conseguirá ocupar o trono de Davi e reinar sobre Judá.	30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'
