Êxodo 13

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
2 "Consagrar-me-ás todo primogênito entre os israelitas, tanto homem como animal: ele será meu."	2 'Consecrate al the first-born to me, the first birth from every womb, among the Israelites. Whetherman or beast, it is mine.'
3 Moisés disse ao povo: "Conservareis a memória deste dia, em que saístes do Egito, da casa da servidão, porque foi pelo poder de sua mão que o Senhor vos fez sair deste lugar; não comereis pão fermentado.	3 Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day, on which you came out of Egypt, from the place ofslave-labour, for by the strength of his hand Yahweh brought you out of it; no leavened bread may be eaten.
4 Vós saís hoje do Egito, no mês das espigas.	4 On this day, in the month of Abib, you are leaving,
5 Assim, pois, quando o Senhor te houver introduzido na terra dos cananeus, dos hiteus, dos amorreus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus, que jurou a teus pais te dar, terra que mana leite e mel, observarás este rito neste mesmo mês.	5 and when Yahweh has brought you into the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, theHivites and the Jebusites, flowing with milk and honey, which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you,then you must observe this rite in the same month.
6 Durante sete dias comerás pães sem fermento, e no sétimo dia haverá uma festa em honra do Senhor.	6 For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there must be a feast inYahweh's honour.
7 Comer-se-ão pães sem fermento durante sete dias. Não se verão em tua casa, em toda a extensão do território, nem pães fermentados nem fermento.	7 During these seven days unleavened bread may be eaten; no leavened bread may be seen amongyou, no leaven among you throughout your territory.
8 Explicarás então a teu filho: isso é em memória do que o Senhor fez por mim, quando saí do Egito.	8 And on that day you wil explain to your son, "This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I cameout of Egypt."
9 Será isso para ti como um sinal sobre tua mão, como uma marca entre os teus olhos, a fim de que tenhas na boca a lei do Senhor, porque foi graças à sua poderosa mão que o Senhor te fez sair do Egito.	9 This will serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a reminder on your forehead, and in that waythe law of Yahweh will be ever on your lips: for with a mighty hand Yahweh brought you out of Egypt.
10 Observarás a cada ano essa prescrição no tempo prescrito.	10 You shal observe this law at its appointed time, year by year.
11 "Quando o Senhor te houver introduzido na terra dos cananeus, como ele jurou a ti e a teus pais, e te houver dado essa terra,	11 'When Yahweh has brought you into the Canaanites' country, as he swore to you and your ancestorsthat he would, and given it to you,
12 consagrarás ao Senhor todo primogênito; mesmo os primogênitos de teus animais, os machos, serão do Senhor.	12 to Yahweh you must make over whatever first issues from the womb, and every first-born cast byanimals belonging to you: these males belong to Yahweh.
13 Entretanto, resgatarás com um cordeiro todo primogênito do jumento; do contrário, quebrar-lhe-ás a nuca. Todo primogênito dos homens entre teus filhos, resgatá-lo-ás igualmente.	13 But every first-born donkey you wil redeem with a lamb or kid; if you do not redeem it, you mustbreak its neck. Al the human first-born, however, among your sons, you wil redeem.
14 E, quando teu filho te perguntar um dia o que isso significa, dir-lhe-ás: é que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito com sua mão poderosa, da casa da servidão.	14 And when your son asks you in days to come, "What does this mean?" you wil tel him, "By thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.
15 E, como o faraó se obstinasse em não nos deixar partir, o Senhor matou todos os primogênitos do Egito, desde os primogênitos dos homens até os dos animais. Eis por que sacrifico ao Senhor todos os primogênitos machos dos animais, e devo resgatar todo primogênito entre meus filhos.	15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Yahweh killed all the first-born in Egypt, of man andbeast alike. This is why I sacrifice every male first issuing from the womb to Yahweh and redeem every first-bornof my sons."
16 Isso será como um sinal sobre tua mão e como uma marca entre teus olhos, porque foi pelo poder de sua mão que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito".	16 This wil serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a headband on your forehead, for by thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.'
17 Tendo o faraó deixado partir o povo, Deus não o conduziu pelo caminho da terra dos filisteus, que é, no entanto, o mais curto, pois disse: "Talvez o povo possa arrepender-se, no momento em que tiver de enfrentar um combate e voltar para o Egito".	17 When Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not let them take the road to the Philistines' territory,although that was the shortest, 'in case', God thought, 'the prospect of fighting makes the people change theirminds and turn back to Egypt.'
18 Por isso, Deus fez com que o povo desse uma volta pelo deserto, para o lado do mar Vermelho. Os israelitas partiram do Egito em boa ordem.	18 Instead, God led the people a roundabout way through the desert of the Sea of Reeds. The Israelitesleft Egypt ful y armed.
19 Moisés levou consigo os ossos de José, porque este fizera os filhos de Israel jurarem: "Quando Deus vos visitar, levareis daqui os meus ossos convosco".	19 Moses took with him the bones of Joseph, since Joseph had put the Israelites on solemn oath withthe words, 'It is sure that God will visit you,' he had said, 'and when that day comes you must take my bonesaway from here with you.'
20 Tendo partido de Socot, acamparam em Etão, na extremidade do deserto.	20 They set out from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.
21 O Senhor ia adiante deles: de dia numa coluna de nuvens para guiá-los pelo caminho; e de noite numa coluna de fogo para alumiá-los; de sorte que podiam marchar de dia e de noite.	21 Yahweh preceded them, by day in a pil ar of cloud to show them the way, and by night in a pil ar offire to give them light, so that they could march by day and by night.
22 Nunca a coluna de nuvens deixou de preceder o povo durante o dia, nem a coluna de fogo durante a noite.	22 The pil ar of cloud never left its place ahead of the people during the day, nor the pil ar of fire duringthe night.
