SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Josias celebrou em Jerusalém a Páscoa em honra do Senhor: imolaram essa Páscoa no décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês.	1 Josiah then celebrated a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. The Passover victims were slaughteredon the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Estabeleceu os sacerdotes nas suas funções e animou-os a servirem no templo.	2 He assigned the priests to their posts, encouraging them to do their duty in the Temple of Yahweh.
3 Disse aos levitas que instruíam todo o Israel e que estavam consagrados ao Senhor: Depositai a arca santa no templo construído por Salomão, filho de Davi, rei de Israel. Já não precisais transportá-la aos vossos ombros. Estai agora a serviço do Senhor, vosso Deus, e de seu povo de Israel;	3 Then he said to the Levites, who had understanding for al Israel and were consecrated to Yahweh,'Put the sacred ark in the Temple built by Solomon son of David, king of Israel. You need not carry it about on your shoulders any more. Now serve Yahweh your God and Israel his people!
4 e disponde-vos conforme a ordem de vossas famílias e de vossas classes, segundo as prescrições de Davi, rei de Israel, e de Salomão, seu filho.	4 Prepare yourselves by families according to your orders, as laid down in the decree of David king ofIsrael and that of Solomon his son,
5 Ocupai vossos lugares no santuário, segundo as divisões das famílias de vossos irmãos, filhos do povo, com uma classe de família levítica para cada divisão.	5 and take up positions in the sanctuary corresponding to the family divisions of your brothers the laity,so that there are Levites for each family division.
6 Imolareis, em seguida, a Páscoa e santificar-vos-eis a fim de prepará-la para vossos irmãos, conforme a palavra do Senhor, transmitida por Moisés.	6 Slaughter the Passover, sanctify yourselves and prepare it so that your brothers can observe it in theway the word of Yahweh through Moses requires.'
7 Josias deu ao povo, a todos os que lá se encontravam, gado miúdo, cordeiros e cabritos em número de trinta mil, tudo para imolar na Páscoa e acrescentou três mil cabeças de gado, tudo tirado das propriedades do rei.	7 For the laity Josiah provided small livestock, that is, lambs and young goats -- everything for thePassover offerings for al who attended -- to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand bul ocks;these were from the king's own possessions.
8 Seus chefes fizeram também espontaneamente um presente ao povo, aos sacerdotes e aos levitas. Helcias, Zacarias e Jaiel, príncipes do templo, deram aos sacerdotes, para a Páscoa, dois mil e seiscentos cordeiros e trezentas cabeças de gado grosso.	8 His officials also made voluntary contributions for the people, the priests and the Levites; and Hilkiah,Zechariah and Jehiel, the chiefs of the Temple of God, gave two thousand six hundred lambs and three hundredbullocks to the priests for the Passover offerings;
9 Conenias, Semeías e Natanael, seus irmãos, Hasabias, Jeiel e Josabad, chefes dos levitas, deram a eles para a Páscoa cinco mil cordeiros e quinhentas cabeças de gado grosso.	9 while Conaniah, Shemaiah, Nethanel his brother, Hashabiah, Jeiel and Jozabad, the head Levites,provided five thousand lambs and five hundred bul ocks as Passover offerings for the Levites.
10 Estando todo o serviço preparado, os sacerdotes tomaram lugar, assim como os levitas, segundo suas divisões, como o rei havia prescrito.	10 So the service was arranged, the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their orders as theking had commanded.
11 Imolaram o cordeiro pascal. Com o sangue correndo de suas mãos os sacerdotes fizeram a aspersão, enquanto os levitas esfolavam as vítimas.	11 Then they slaughtered the Passover victims and while the priests sprinkled the blood as theyreceived it from the Levites, the latter did the skinning.
12 Puseram à parte o holocausto para dá-lo aos grupos de famílias do povo, a fim de oferecer ao Senhor, como estava prescrito no livro de Moisés. Assim também procederam com o gado grosso.	12 Next they put the burnt offering aside for presentation to the family divisions of the laity, so that theycould offer it to Yahweh in the way prescribed in the Book of Moses; they did the same with the bul ocks.
13 De acordo com o rito prescrito, assaram ao fogo a Páscoa. Cozeram as oferendas consagradas em panelas, caldeirões e sertãs, e logo as distribuíram ao povo.	13 They roasted the Passover victim over an open fire in accordance with the regulation and boiled theconsecrated offerings in pots, kettles and pans, which they then distributed to al the laity as quickly as theycould.
14 Em seguida, prepararam tudo para si e para os sacerdotes, pois estes, os filhos de Aarão, estavam até a noite ocupados em oferecer os holocaustos e as gorduras; por isso, os levitas prepararam as carnes para si e para os filhos de Aarão.	14 Afterwards they provided for themselves and the priests, since the Aaronite priests were kept busy tilnightfall making the burnt offerings and offering the fat; that was why the Levites prepared the Passover forthemselves and for the Aaronite priests.
15 Os cantores, filhos de Asaf, estavam nos seus lugares, segundo as disposições de Davi, de Asaf, de Hemã e de Iditum, o vidente do rei. Os porteiros estavam à porta correspondente; não tiveram que abandonar seu posto, porque seus irmãos, os levitas, prepararam tudo para eles.	15 The Asaphite singers were at their places, in accordance with the command of David and Asaph,Heman and Jeduthun the king's seer; so were the gatekeepers at each gate. Because they could not leave theirduties, their brothers the Levites prepared the Passover for them.
16 Estando, nesse dia, todo o serviço do Senhor disposto segundo a ordem de Josias, de modo que se pudesse celebrar a Páscoa e oferecer os holocaustos no altar do Senhor,	16 So the whole service of Yahweh was arranged that day to celebrate the Passover and to bring burntofferings on the altar of Yahweh, in accordance with King Josiah's command.
17 os israelitas presentes celebraram a seu tempo a Páscoa, e a festa dos Ázimos, durante sete dias.	17 On that occasion the Israelites who were present celebrated the Passover and the feast ofUnleavened Bread for seven days.
18 Nenhuma Páscoa semelhante a esta havia sido celebrada em Israel desde o tempo do profeta Samuel. Nenhum rei de Israel tinha celebrado uma Páscoa semelhante àquela que celebraram Josias, os sacerdotes e os levitas, como todo o Judá, todos os de Israel que estavam presentes e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém.	18 No Passover like this one had ever been celebrated in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel,nor had any of the kings of Israel ever celebrated a Passover like the one celebrated by Josiah, the priests, theLevites, al Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 Foi no décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Josias que foi celebrada essa Páscoa.	19 This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign.
20 Depois desse acontecimento e da reparação do templo pelo rei, Necao, rei do Egito, dirigiu-se para Carcames, junto do Eufrates, numa expedição militar. Josias saiu-lhe ao encontro.	20 After all this, when Josiah had provided for the Temple, Necho king of Egypt advanced to give battleat Carchemish on the Euphrates and Josiah went to intercept him.
21 Necao enviou-lhe mensageiros para dizer-lhe: Que queres tu, rei de Judá? Não vou contra ti hoje, mas contra uma dinastia com a qual estou em guerra. E disse-me Deus que me apressasse. Guarda-te de te opores a Deus, que está comigo, pois ele te deitará a perder.	21 Necho however sent him messengers to say, 'Why be concerned about me, king of Judah? I havenot come today to attack you; my quarrel is with another dynasty. God has commanded me to move quickly, sokeep wel clear of the god who is with me!'
22 Mas Josias não quis voltar atrás. Em lugar de ouvir as palavras de Necao, que vinham da própria boca de Deus, disfarçou-se para combater e entrou em batalha na planície de Magedo.	22 But Josiah was not to be deflected from his determination to fight him, and would not listen toNecho's words, which came from the mouth of God. He gave battle in the plain of Megiddo.
23 Arqueiros dispararam contra o rei Josias. Então o rei disse à sua gente: Levai-me; estou gravemente ferido.	23 The archers shot King Josiah. The king then said to his retainers, 'Take me away; I am badlywounded.'
24 Seus homens tiraram-no do carro, colocaram-no em outro carro que havia lá, e o levaram para Jerusalém, onde morreu. Foi sepultado no sepulcro de seus pais. Josias foi pranteado por todos os habitantes de Judá e de Jerusalém.	24 So his retainers lifted him out of his own chariot, transferred him to one which he had in reserve andbrought him to Jerusalem, where he died and was buried in the tombs of his ancestors. Al Judah and Jerusalemheld mourning for Josiah.
25 Jeremias compôs uma lamentação fúnebre sobre ele. Todos os cantores e todas as cantoras falam ainda de Josias em suas lamentações; é este um verdadeiro costume em Israel. Esses cantos fúnebres figuram no Livro das Lamentações.	25 Jeremiah composed a lament for Josiah and all the male and female singers to this day lamentJosiah in their dirges; they have made it a rule in Israel; they are recorded in the Lamentations.
26 Os outros atos de Josias, seus atos de piedade, de acordo com o que está escrito na Lei do Senhor,	26 The rest of the history of Josiah, his deeds of faithful love conforming to what is prescribed in theLaw of Yahweh,
27 seus feitos e façanhas, desde os primeiros até os últimos, tudo isso se acha relatado no livro dos reis de Israel e de Judá.	27 his history from first to last, are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
