Genesis 27

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Isaac envelhecera e seus olhos enfraqueceram-se, de modo que não podia ver. Chamou Esaú, seu filho primogênito, e disse-lhe: "Meu filho!" " Eis-me aqui!", respondeu ele.	1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'
2 Isaac disse: "Tu vês, estou velho e não sei quando vou morrer.	2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.
3 Toma as tuas armas, tua aljava e teu arco, vai ao campo e mata-me uma caça.	3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.
4 Prepara-me depois um prato suculento, como sabes que gosto, e traze-mo para que o coma e minha alma te abençoe antes que eu morra."	4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'
5 {Ora, Rebeca ouviu atentamente enquanto Isaac falava ao seu filho Esaú.} E Esaú partiu para o campo, a fim de matar e trazer a caça.	5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,
6 Rebeca disse a Jacó, seu filho: "Acabo de ouvir teu pai dizer ao teu irmão Esaú para que lhe traga uma caça	6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,
7 e lhe prepare um bom prato, a fim de comer e o abençoar diante do Senhor antes de morrer.	7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."
8 Ouve-me, pois, meu filho, e faze o que te vou dizer.	8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.
9 Vai ao rebanho e traze-me dois belos cabritos. Prepararei com eles um prato suculento para o teu pai, como ele gosta,	9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.
10 tu lho levarás e ele comerá, a fim de que te abençoe antes de morrer."	10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'
11 "Mas, respondeu Jacó à sua mãe, Esaú, meu irmão, é peludo, enquanto eu sou de pele lisa.	11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.
12 Se meu pai me tocar, passarei aos seus olhos por um embusteiro e atrairei sobre mim uma maldição em lugar de bênção."	12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'
13 "Tomo sobre mim esta maldição, meu filho, disse sua mãe. Ouve-me somente, e vai buscar o que te digo."	13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'
14 Jacó foi e trouxe os dois cabritos, com os quais sua mãe preparou um prato suculento, como seu pai gostava.	14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.
15 Escolheu as mais belas vestes de Esaú, seu filho primogênito, que tinha em casa, e revestiu com elas Jacó, seu filho mais novo.	15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,
16 Cobriu depois suas mãos, assim como a parte lisa do pescoço, com a pele dos cabritos,	16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.
17 e pôs-lhe nas mãos o prato suculento e o pão que tinha preparado.	17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.
18 Jacó foi para junto do seu pai e disse-lhe: "Meu pai!" "Eis-me aqui! Quem és, meu filho?"	18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'
19 Jacó respondeu: "Eu sou Esaú, teu primogênito; fiz o que me pediste. Levanta-te, assenta-te e come de minha caça, a fim de que tua alma me abençoe."	19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'
20 "Como encontraste caça tão depressa, meu filho?" "É que o Senhor, teu Deus, fez que ela se apresentasse diante de mim."	20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'
21 "Aproxima-te, então, meu filho, para que eu te apalpe e veja se, de fato, és o meu filho Esaú."	21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'
22 Jacó aproximou-se de Isaac, seu pai, que o apalpou e disse: "A voz é a voz de Jacó, mas as mãos são as mãos de Esaú."	22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'
23 E não o reconheceu, porque suas mãos estavam peludas como as do seu irmão Esaú. E abençoou-o.	23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.
24 "Tu és bem o meu filho Esaú?" Disse-lhe ele: "Sim."	24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'
25 "{Então} serve-me, para que eu coma de tua caça, meu filho, e minha alma te abençoe." Jacó serviu-lhe e ele comeu; e trouxe-lhe também vinho, do qual ele bebeu.	25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.
26 Então Isaac, seu pai, disse-lhe: "Aproxima-te, meu filho, e beija-me."	26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'
27 E, aproximando-se Jacó para lhe dar um beijo, Isaac sentiu o perfume de suas vestes, e o abençoou nestes termos. "Sim. o odor de meu filho é como o odor de um campo que o Senhor abençoou.	27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.
28 Deus te dê o orvalho do céu e a gordura da terra, uma abundância de trigo e de vinho!	28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!
29 Sirvam-te os povos e prostrem-se as nações diante de ti! Sê o senhor dos teus irmãos, e curvem-se diante de ti os filhos de tua mãe! Maldito seja quem te amaldiçoar e bendito quem te abençoar!"	29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!
30 Apenas Isaac acabara de abençoar Jacó, e este saíra de junto do seu pai, chegou Esaú da caça.	30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.
31 Preparou também ele um prato suculento e trouxe-o ao seu pai, dizendo: "Levanta-te, meu pai, e come da caça do teu filho, a fim de que tua alma me abençoe."	31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'
32 "Quem és tu?", perguntou-lhe seu pai Isaac. "Eu sou o teu filho primogênito Esaú."	32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.
33 Então Isaac, tomado de emoção violenta, exclamou: "Quem é, pois, aquele que foi à caça e me trouxe o prato que eu comi antes que tu voltasses? Eu o abençoei, e ele será bendito."	33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'
34 Ouvindo estas palavras de seu pai, Esaú soltou um grito cheio de amargura, e disse-lhe: "Abençoa-me também a mim, meu pai!"	34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'
35 "Teu irmão, respondeu-lhe Isaac, veio, fraudulentamente, tomar a tua bênção."	35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'
36 Esaú disse então: "Será porque ele se chama Jacó que me suplantou já duas vezes? Tirou-me meu direito de primogenitura, e eis que agora me rouba minha bênção!" E ajuntou: "Não reservaste, porventura, uma bênção também para mim?"	36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'
37 Isaac respondeu-lhe: "Eu o constituí teu senhor, e dei-lhe todos os seus irmãos por servos e o estabeleci na posse do trigo do vinho. Que posso ainda fazer por ti, meu filho?"	37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'
38 Esaú disse ao seu pai: "Então só tens uma bênção, meu pai? Abençoa-me também a mim, meu pai!" E pôs-se a chorar.	38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.
39 Isaac tomou a palavra: "Eis, disse ele, que a tua habitação será desprovida da gordura da terra e do orvalho que desce dos céus.	39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.
40 Viverás de tua espada, servindo o teu irmão, mas, se te libertares, quebrarás o seu jugo de cima do teu pescoço."	40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'
41 Esaú concebeu ódio por Jacó por causa da bênção que lhe tinha dado seu pai e disse em seu coração: "Virão os dias do luto de meu pai, e matarei meu irmão Jacó."	41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'
42 E foram referidas a Rebeca estas palavras do seu filho primogênito. Ela mandou chamar seu filho mais novo, Jacó, e disse-lhe: "Teu irmão Esaú quer matar-te para se vingar de ti.	42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.
43 Escuta-me, pois, meu filho: vai, foge para junto de Labão, meu irmão, em Harã;	43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.
44 fica em casa dele algum tempo, até que se acalme a cólera do teu irmão.	44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,
45 Assim que passar a sua cólera e tiver ele esquecido do que lhe fizeste, mandar-te-ei buscar. Por que perderia eu vocês dois num só dia?"	45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'
46 Rebeca disse a Isaac: "Estou desgostosa da vida por causa das filhas de Het. Se Jacó tomar uma mulher entre as filhas de Het, para que ainda viver?"	46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'
