3 cavalieri all'assalto, lampeggiare di spade, bagliori di lance; molti i feriti, una massa gli uccisi, innumerevoli i cadaveri, si barcolla sopra i morti!	3 charging cavalry, flashing swords, gleaming spears, a mass of wounded, hosts of dead, countlesscorpses; they stumble over corpses-
4 Per le molte prostituzioni della cortigiana, della bella favorita, dell'abile incantatrice, che tiranneggiava i popoli con i suoi favori, le nazioni con i suoi incantesimi!	4 because of the countless whorings of the harlot, the graceful beauty, the cunning witch, who enslavednations by her harlotries and tribes by her spells.
5 Ecco! A te! Dice il Signore degli eserciti. 7 Allora chiunque ti vedrà si allontanerà da te e dirà: "Ninive! Che desolazione! Chi potrà consolarla? Nessuno potrà trovar chi la consoli!".	7 Then al who look at you wil shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh has been ruined!' Who wil mourn forher? Where would I find people to comfort you?
8 Sei tu forse più forte di Tebe, che si adagiava sui canali del Nilo, che per avamposto aveva il mare, l'acqua le faceva da muraglia?	8 Are you better off than No-Amon situated among rivers, her defences the seas, her rampart the waters?

13 Ecco il tuo popolo: sono donne dentro alle tue mura; davanti ai tuoi nemici si spalancano le porte della tua terra; il fuoco ha divorato le tue serrature.	13 Look at your people: you are a nation of women! The gates of your country gape open to yourenemies; fire has devoured their bars!
14 Attingiti acqua per l'assedio, rinforza le tue fortificazioni; marcia nel fango, calca l'argilla, prendi la formella per i mattoni.	14 Draw yourselves water for the siege, strengthen your fortifications! Into the mud with you, puddle theclay, repair the brick-kiln!
15 Ivi il fuoco ti divorerà, ti distruggerà la spada! Ammàssati come i bruchi, ammàssati come le cavallette;	15 There the fire wil burn you up, the sword wil cut you down. Make yourselves as numerous as locusts,make yourselves as numerous as the hoppers,
16 bi bruchi dispiegano le ali e volano,	16 let your commercial agents outnumber the stars of heaven,

19 Non c'è rimedio alla tua ferita, la tua piaga è inguaribile; tutti quelli che ne sentono parlare sono contenti della tua sorte! Infatti sopra chi non è passato in ogni tempo quello che tu soffri?	19 There is no remedy for your wound, your injury is past healing. All who hear the news of you clap theirhands at your downfal . For who has not felt your unrelenting cruelty?
