Isaia 31

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Guai a quelli che scendono in Egitto per cercare aiuto e confidano nei cavalli, hanno fiducia nei carri perché numerosi e nei cavalieri perché molto potenti, e non hanno riguardo per il Santo d'Israele né cercano il Signore.	1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who depend upon horses: Who put their trust in chariots because of their number, and in horsemen because od their combined power, But look not to the Holy One of Israel nor seek the LORD!
2 Ma anch'egli è saggio e causerà il disastro, non ritira le sue parole; si ergerà contro la casa dei malfattori e contro l'aiuto di quelli che operano l'iniquità.	2 Yet he too is wise and will bring disaster; he will not turn from what he has threatened to do. He will rise up against the house of the wicked and against those who help evildoers.
3 L'Egiziano è un uomo, non un dio, i suoi cavalli sono carne, non spirito. Il Signore stenderà la mano: il protettore inciamperà e il protetto cadrà, periranno tutti insieme.	3 The Egyptians are men, not God, their horses are flesh, not spirit; When the LORD stretches forth his hand, the helper shall stumble, the one helped shall fall, and both of them shall perish together.
4 Perché così mi ha parlato il Signore: "Come freme un leone o un leoncello per la preda, contro il quale si è riunito un gruppo di pastori, e non teme il loro grido e non cede al loro tumulto, così il Signore degli eserciti discenderà, per guerreggiare sul monte Sion e sulla sua collina.	4 Thus says the LORD to me: As a lion or a lion cub growling over its prey, With a band of shepherds assembled against it, Is neither frightened by their shouts nor disturbed by their noise, So shall the LORD of hosts come down to wage war upon the mountain and hill of Zion.
5 Come uccelli che volano, così il Signore degli eserciti proteggerà Gerusalemme, la proteggerà, la salverà, la risparmierà e la libererà".	5 Like hovering birds, so the LORD of hosts shall shield Jerusalem, To protect and deliver, to spare and rescue it.
6 Ritornate, o figli d'Israele, a colui contro il quale vi siete completamente rivoltati!	6 Return, O children of Israel, to him whom you have utterly deserted.
7 Sì, in quel giorno ognuno ripudierà gl'idoli d'argento e gl'idoli d'oro, che le vostre mani peccatrici hanno fabbricato.	7 On that day each one of you shall spurn his sinful idols of shlver and gold, which he made with his hands.
8 L'Assiria cadrà sotto una spada che non è umana; la spada non umana la divorerà. Fuggirà davanti alla spada e i suoi guerrieri saranno resi schiavi.	8 He shall rush past his crag in panic, and his princes shall flee in terror from his standard, Says the LORD who has a fire in Zion and a furnace in Jerusalem.
9 Nello spavento essa abbandonerà la sua rocca, i suoi capi tremeranno lontani dall'insegna. Oracolo del Signore, che ha un fuoco in Sion e una fornace in Gerusalemme.
