1 Nell'anno quattrocentottanta dopo l'uscita dei figli d'Israele dal paese d'Egitto, nel quinto anno del regno di Salomone su Israele, nel mese di Ziv, il secondo mese dell'anno, egli incominciò a costruire il tempio del Signore.	1 Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.
2 Il tempio che il re Salomone costruì al Signore era lungo sessanta cubiti, largo venti e alto trenta.	2 Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.
3 Il vestibolo di fronte all'aula del tempio era lungo venti cubiti nel senso della larghezza del tempio, e dieci cubiti nel senso della lunghezza del tempio.	3 And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.
4 Fece al tempio finestre quadrate e a griglie.	4 And he made oblique windows in the temple.
5 Fabbricò pure a ridosso del muro del tempio un annesso attorno all'aula e alla cella; e vi costruì intorno degli appartamenti.	5 And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.
6 Il piano inferiore era largo cinque cubiti, l'intermedio sei cubiti e il terzo sette cubiti, perché egli fece il lato esterno a rientranze, tutt'intorno al tempio, per non penetrare nelle mura del tempio.	6 The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.
7 Nella costruzione del tempio si usarono pietre già squadrate, cosicché, durante la costruzione, non si udì nel tempio rumore di martelli o di piccone o di qualsiasi strumento di ferro.	7 Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.
8 L'ingresso al piano inferiore era situato al lato destro del tempio; di qui, mediante una scala a chiocciola, si saliva al piano intermedio e da questo al terzo.	8 The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.
9 Dopo aver condotto a termine la costruzione del tempio, gli fece un soffitto con tavole e travi di cedro.	9 And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.
10 Costruì pure l'annesso intorno a tutto il tempio, alto cinque cubiti per piano, e lo collegò con il tempio mediante legni di cedro.	10 And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.
11 La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Salomone in questi termini:	11 And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12 "Per questo tempio che tu mi stai edificando, sappi che, se camminerai secondo i miei statuti, eseguirai i miei ordini e custodirai tutti i miei comandi, camminando in conformità ad essi, anch'io darò compimento alla mia promessa su di te, quella che ho fatta a Davide tuo padre,	12 “Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.
13 abiterò in mezzo ai figli d'Israele, né mai abbandonerò il mio popolo, Israele".	13 And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”
14 Così Salomone costruì il tempio e lo portò a termine.	14 And so, Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 Allestì pure l'interno delle pareti del tempio con tavole di cedro, rivestendole internamente di legno dal pavimento del tempio fino alle travi del soffitto e coprì il pavimento del tempio con tavole di cipresso.	15 And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.
16 Rivestì di tavole di cedro anche lo spazio di venti cubiti in fondo al tempio, dal pavimento alle travi, riservandolo per la cella, cioè il santo dei santi.	16 And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.
17 L'aula era di quaranta cubiti dinanzi alla cella.	17 And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.
18 Il legno di cedro all'interno del tempio era scolpito a rosoni e a ghirlande di fiori; il tutto era di cedro né si vedeva alcuna pietra.	18 And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.
19 Dentro il tempio fece approntare una cella per collocarvi l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore.	19 Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20 La cella misurava venti cubiti di lunghezza, venti di larghezza e venti di altezza; egli la rivestì di oro finissimo e fece un altare di cedro.	20 And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.
21 Salomone rivestì il tempio all'interno di oro finissimo e stese catenelle auree dinanzi alla cella, tutta rivestita d'oro.	21 Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.
22 Rivestì completamente di oro tutto il tempio e tutto l'altare ch'era dinanzi alla cella.	22 And there was nothing in the temple that was not covered with gold. Moreover, the entire altar of the oracle he overlaid with gold.
23 Nella cella poi fece due cherubini di legno d'ulivo, alti ciascuno dieci cubiti.	23 And he made in the oracle two cherubim from wood of the olive tree, of ten cubits in height.
24 Un'ala del cherubino misurava cinque cubiti e l'altra ala del cherubino misurava pur essa cinque cubiti: c'erano dieci cubiti dall'estremità di un'ala all'estremità dell'altra.	24 One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.
25 Il secondo cherubino era pure di dieci cubiti; identica era la dimensione e identica la figura dei due cherubini.	25 Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,
26 L'altezza del primo cherubino era di dieci cubiti, e così anche quella del secondo.	26 that is, one cherub had a height of ten cubits, and similarly the second cherub.
27 Collocò i due cherubini nell'interno del tempio, in fondo; qui tenevano le loro ali distese in modo che l'ala del primo toccava la parete e l'ala del secondo toccava la parete opposta e le ali di mezzo al tempio si toccavano, ala ad ala.	27 And he stationed the cherubim in the middle of the inner temple. And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.
28 Rivestì d'oro i cherubini.	28 He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Su tutte le pareti del tempio, all'intorno, scolpì figure di cherubini, palme e ghirlande di fiori, tanto all'interno che all'esterno.	29 And all the walls of the temple all around he engraved with diverse carvings and turnings. And he made in them cherubim, and palm trees, and various images, as if these were projecting out, and going forth from, the wall.
30 Ricoprì d'oro il pavimento del tempio, tanto all'interno che all'esterno.	30 Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.
31 Fece la porta della cella con battenti in legno d'ulivo; l'architrave e gli stipiti formavano un pentagono.	31 And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.
32 Fece anche due battenti in legno d'ulivo su cui scolpì figure di cherubini, palme e ghirlande di fiori, che ricoprì d'oro; in particolare pose foglie d'oro sui cherubini e sulle palme.	32 And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.
33 Ugualmente per la porta dell'aula sacra fece stipiti in legno d'ulivo, stipiti quadrangolari	33 And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,
34 e due battenti in legno di cipresso: ognuno constava di due pezzi pieghevoli su se stessi.	34 and two doors, from wood of the spruce tree, on the other side. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.
35 Vi scolpì cherubini, palme e ghirlande di fiori e li rivestì d'oro perfettamente aderente.	35 And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.
36 Quindi costruì il muro del cortile interno con tre strati di pietre squadrate e uno strato di tavole di cedro.	36 And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.
37 Nel quarto anno, il mese di Ziv, furono gettate le fondamenta del tempio del Signore;	37 In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.
38 nell'anno undicesimo, nel mese di Bul, che è l'ottavo, il tempio fu condotto a termine secondo tutto il suo piano e tutto il suo ordinamento. Egli lo costruì in sette anni.	38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
