Giona 2

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Intanto il Signore aveva preparato un gran pesce, affinchè ingoiasse Giona, e Giona stette nel ventre del pesce tre dì e tre notti.	1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.
2 E dal ventre del pesce, Giona pregò il Signore.	2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:
3 E disse: «Nella mia tribolazione ho invocato il Signore ed egli mi ha esaudito. Nel seno degli Inferi ho gridatoe tu hai udita la mia voce.	3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!
4 Tu mi hai gettato nel profondo in mezzo al mare e le acque mi circondarono, e le tue onde e i tuoi flutti passarono tutti sopra di me.	4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;
5 E dissi: - Sono stato rigettato lontano dalla presenza dei tuoi occhi, ma pure rivedrò di nuovo il tuo tempio santo.	5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'
6 Le acque mi hanno circondato fino all'anima; l'abisso mi ha inghiottitoe il pelago ha coperto il mio capo.	6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.
7 Sono sceso alle radici dei monti; le sbarre della terra s'erano chiuse dietro di me per sempre; ma tu sottrarrai alla distruzione la mia vita, o Signore Dio mio.	7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!
8 Quando l'anima mia era nelle angoscemi sono ricordato del Signorefacendo giungere a te la mia preghiera, al tuo tempio santo.	8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.
9 Coloro che prestano culto alle vanità inutiliperdono la loro pietà.	9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,
10 Ma io offrirò a te un sacrifizio con voce di lode, renderò tutti i voti fatti al Signore per la mia salvezza -».	10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!
11 E il Signore diede ordine al pesce, e vomitò Giona sulla terra ferma.	11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.
