2 Thessalonians 2

1 But we ask you, brothers, concerning the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering to him,	1 Acerca de la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y de nuestra reunión con él, les rogamos, hermanos,
2 that you not be readily disturbed or terrified in your minds, by any spirit, or word, or epistle, supposedly sent from us, claiming that the day of the Lord is close by.	2 que no se dejen perturbar fácilmente ni se alarmen, sea por anuncios proféticos, o por palabras o cartas atribuidas a nosotros, que hacen creer que el Día del Señor ya ha llegado.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For this cannot be, unless the apostasy will have arrived first, and the man of sin will have been revealed, the son of perdition,	3 Que nadie los engañe de ninguna manera. Porque antes tiene que venir la apostasía y manifestarse el hombre impío, el Ser condenado a la perdición,
4 who is an adversary to, and who is lifted up above, all that is called God or that is worshipped, so much so that he sits in the temple of God, presenting himself as if he were God.	4 el Adversario, el que se alza con soberbia contra todo lo que lleva el nombre de Dios o es objeto de culto, hasta llegar a instalarse en el Templo de Dios, presentándose como si fuera Dios.
5 Do you not recall that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?	5 ¿No recuerdan que cuando estuve con ustedes les decía estas cosas?
6 And now you know what it is that holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own time.	6 Ya saben qué es lo que ahora lo retiene, para que no se manifieste sino a su debido tiempo.
7 For the mystery of iniquity is already at work. And only one now holds back, and will continue to hold back, until he is taken from our midst.	7 El misterio de la iniquidad ya está actuando. Sólo falta que desaparezca el que lo retiene,
8 And then that iniquitous one shall be revealed, the one whom the Lord Jesus shall bring to ruin with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy at the brightness of his return:	8 y entonces se manifestará el Impío, a quien el Señor Jesús destruirá con el aliento de su boca y aniquilará con el resplandor de su Venida.
9 him whose advent is accompanied by the works of Satan, with every kind of power and signs and false miracles,	9 La venida del Impío será provocada por la acción de Satanás y está acompañada de toda clase de demostraciones de poder, de signos y falsos milagros,
10 and with every seduction of iniquity, toward those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth, so that they may be saved. For this reason, God will send to them works of deception, so that they may believe in lies,	10 y de toda clase de engaños perversos, destinados a los que se pierden por no haber amado la verdad que los podía salvar.
11 in order that all those who have not believed in the truth, but who have consented to iniquity, may be judged.	11 Por eso, Dios les envía un poder engañoso que les hace creer en la mentira,
12 Yet we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved of God, because God has chosen you as first-fruits for salvation, by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.	12 a fin de que sean condenados todos los que se negaron a creer en la verdad y se complacieron en el mal.
13 He has also called you into truth through our Gospel, unto the acquisition of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.	13 Nosotros, por nuestra parte, siempre debemos dar gracias a Dios, a causa de ustedes, hermanos amados por el Señor. En efecto, Dios los eligió desde el principio para que alcanzaran la salvación mediante la acción santificadora del Espíritu y la fe en la verdad.
14 And so, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions that you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.	14 El los llamó, por medio de nuestro Evangelio, para que posean la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
15 So may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and who has given us an everlasting consolation and good hope in grace,	15 Por lo tanto, hermanos, manténganse firmes y conserven fielmente las tradiciones que aprendieron de nosotros, sea oralmente o por carta.
16 exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and deed.	16 Que nuestro Señor Jesucristo y Dios, nuestro Padre, que nos amó y nos dio gratuitamente un consuelo eterno y una feliz esperanza,
	17 los reconforte y fortalezca en toda obra y en toda palabra buena.
