CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINGREEK BIBLE
So what shall we say? Should we remain in sin, so that grace may abound?1 Τι λοιπον θελομεν ειπει; θελομεν επιμενει εν τη αμαρτια, δια να περισσευση η χαρις;
Let it not be so! For how can we who have died to sin still live in sin?2 Μη γενοιτο? ημεις, οιτινες απεθανομεν κατα την αμαρτιαν, πως θελομεν ζησει πλεον εν αυτη;
Do you not know that those of us who have been baptized in Christ Jesus have been baptized into his death?3 Η αγνοειτε οτι οσοι εβαπτισθημεν εις Χριστον Ιησουν, εις τον θανατον αυτου εβαπτισθημεν;
For through baptism we have been buried with him into death, so that, in the manner that Christ rose from the dead, by the glory of the Father, so may we also walk in the newness of life.4 Συνεταφημεν λοιπον μετ' αυτου δια του βαπτισματος εις τον θανατον, ινα καθως ο Χριστος ανεστη εκ νεκρων δια της δοξης του Πατρος, ουτω και ημεις περιπατησωμεν εις νεαν ζωην.
For if we have been planted together, in the likeness of his death, so shall we also be, in the likeness of his resurrection.5 Διοτι εαν εγειναμεν συμφυτοι με αυτον κατα την ομοιοτητα του θανατου αυτου, θελομεν εισθαι και κατα την ομοιοτητα της αναστασεως,
For we know this: that our former selves have been crucified together with him, so that the body which is of sin may be destroyed, and moreover, so that we may no longer serve sin.6 τουτο γινωσκοντες, οτι ο παλαιος ημων ανθρωπος συνεσταυρωθη, δια να καταργηθη το σωμα της αμαρτιας, ωστε να μη ημεθα πλεον δουλοι της αμαρτιας?
For he who has died has been justified from sin.7 διοτι ο αποθανων ηλευθερωθη απο της αμαρτιας.
Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live together with Christ.8 Εαν δε απεθανομεν μετα του Χριστου, πιστευομεν οτι και θελομεν συζησει μετ' αυτου,
For we know that Christ, in rising up from the dead, can no longer die: death no longer has dominion over him.9 γινωσκοντες οτι ο Χριστος αναστας εκ νεκρων δεν αποθνησκει πλεον, θανατος αυτον δεν κυριευει πλεον.
For in as much as he died for sin, he died once. But in as much as he lives, he lives for God.10 Διοτι καθ' ο απεθανεν, απεθανεν απαξ δια την αμαρτιαν, αλλα καθ' ο ζη, ζη εις τον Θεον.
And so, you should consider yourselves to be certainly dead to sin, and to be living for God in Christ Jesus our Lord.11 Ουτω και σεις φρονειτε εαυτους οτι εισθε νεκροι μεν κατα την αμαρτιαν, ζωντες δε εις τον Θεον δια Ιησου Χριστου του Κυριου ημων.
Therefore, let not sin reign in your mortal body, such that you would obey its desires.12 Ας μη βασιλευη λοιπον η αμαρτια εν τω θνητω υμων σωματι, ωστε κατα τας επιθυμιας αυτου να υπακουητε εις αυτην,
Nor should you offer the parts of your body as instruments of iniquity for sin. Instead, offer yourselves to God, as if you were living after death, and offer the parts of your body as instruments of justice for God.13 μηδε παριστανετε τα μελη σας οπλα αδικιας εις την αμαρτιαν, αλλα παραστησατε εαυτους εις τον Θεον ως ζωντας εκ νεκρων, και τα μελη σας οπλα δικαιοσυνης εις τον Θεον.
For sin should not have dominion over you. For you are not under the law, but under grace.14 Διοτι η αμαρτια δεν θελει σας κυριευσει? επειδη δεν εισθε υπο νομον, αλλ' υπο χαριν.
What is next? Should we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? Let it not be so!15 Τι λοιπον; θελομεν αμαρτησει διοτι δεν ειμεθα υπο νομον, αλλ' υπο χαριν; μη γενοιτο.
Do you not know to whom you are offering yourselves as servants under obedience? You are the servants of whomever you obey: whether of sin, unto death, or of obedience, unto justice.16 Δεν εξευρετε οτι εις οντινα παριστανετε εαυτους δουλους προς υπακοην, εισθε δουλοι εκεινου εις τον οποιον υπακουετε, η της αμαρτιας προς θανατον η της υπακοης προς δικαιοσυνην;
But thanks be to God that, though you used to be the servants of sin, now you have been obedient from the heart to the very form of the doctrine into which you have been received.17 Χαρις ομως εις τον Θεον, διοτι υπηρχετε δουλοι της αμαρτιας, πλην υπηκουσατε εκ καρδιας εις τον τυπον της διδαχης, εις τον οποιον παρεδοθητε,
And having been freed from sin, we have become servants of justice.18 ελευθερωθεντες δε απο της αμαρτιας, εδουλωθητε εις την δικαιοσυνην?
I am speaking in human terms because of the infirmity of your flesh. For just as you offered the parts of your body to serve impurity and iniquity, for the sake of iniquity, so also have you now yielded the parts of your body to serve justice, for the sake of sanctification.19 ανθρωπινως λεγω δια την ασθενειαν της σαρκος σας.
For though you were once the servants of sin, you have become the children of justice.20 Διοτι οτε υπηρχετε δουλοι της αμαρτιας, υπηρχετε ελευθεροι απο της δικαιοσυνης.
But what fruit did you hold at that time, in those things about which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.21 Τινα λοιπον καρπον ειχετε τοτε εξ εκεινων των εργων, δια τα οποια τωρα αισχυνεσθε; διοτι το τελος εκεινων ειναι θανατος.
Yet truly, having been freed now from sin, and having been made servants of God, you hold your fruit in sanctification, and truly its end is eternal life.22 Αλλα τωρα ελευθερωθεντες απο της αμαρτιας και δουλωθεντες εις τον Θεον, εχετε τον καρπον σας εις αγιασμον, το δε τελος ζωην αιωνιον.
For the wages of sin is death. But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.23 Διοτι ο μισθος της αμαρτιας ειναι θανατος, το δε χαρισμα του Θεου ζωη αιωνιος δια Ιησου Χριστου του Κυριου ημων.
