Deuteronomy 11

1 “And so, love the Lord your God, and observe his precepts and ceremonies, his judgments and commandments, at all times.	1 Amarás a Yahveh tu Dios y guardarás siempre sus ritos, sus preceptos, normas y mandamientos.
2 Acknowledge, on this day, the things that your sons did not know. For they did not see the chastisements of the Lord your God, his great acts, and powerful hand, and outstretched arm,	2 Vosotros sabéis hoy - no vuestros hijos, que ni saben ni han visto la lección de Yahveh vuestro Dios, su grandeza, su mano fuerte y su tenso brazo -
3 the signs and works that he did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king, and to his entire land,	3 las señales y hazañas que realizó él en medio de Egipto, contra Faraón rey de Egipto y todo su pueblo;
4 and to the entire army of the Egyptians, and to their horses and chariots: how the waters of the Red Sea covered them as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord wiped them away, even to the present day;	4 lo que hizo con el ejército de Egipto, con sus caballos y sus carros, precipitando sobre ellos las aguas del mar de Suf cuando os perseguían, y aniquilándolos Yahveh hasta el día de hoy;
5 and the things that he accomplished for you in the wilderness, until you arrived at this place;	5 lo que ha hecho por vosotros en el desierto hasta vuestra llegada a este lugar;
6 and to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, who was the son of Reuben, those whom the earth, opening its mouth, engulfed with their households and tents, and with their entire substance which they had in the midst of Israel.	6 lo que hizo con Datán y Abirón, hijos de Eliab el rubenita, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó en medio de todo Israel, con sus familias, sus tiendas y todos los que les seguían.
7 Your eyes have seen all the great works of the Lord, which he has accomplished,	7 Pues vuestros mismos ojos han visto toda esta gran obra que Yahveh ha realizado.
8 so that you would keep all his commandments, which I entrust to you this day, and so that you would be able to enter and possess the land, toward which you are advancing,	8 Guardaréis todos los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, para que os hagaís fuertes y lleguéis a poseer la tierra a la que vais a pasar para tomarla en posesión,
9 and so that you may live, for a long time, in the land which the Lord promised under oath to your fathers, and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.	9 y para que prolonguéis vuestros días en el suelo que Yahveh juró dar a vuestros padres y a su descendencia, tierra que mana leche y miel.
10 For the land, which you shall enter and possess, is not like the land of Egypt, from which you departed, where, when seed has been sown, waters are brought in by irrigation, in the manner of gardens.	10 Porque la tierra a la que vas a entrar para tomarla en posesión no es como el país de Egipto del que habéis salido, donde después de sembrar había que regar con el pie, como se riega un huerto de hortalizas.
11 Rather, it has mountainous regions and plains, which lay waiting for rain from heaven.	11 Sino que la tierra a la que vais a pasar para tomarla en posesión es una tierra de montes y valles, que bebe el agua de la lluvia del cielo.
12 And the Lord your God always visits it, and his eyes are upon it, from the beginning of the year, all the way to its end.	12 De esta tierra se cuida Yahveh tu Dios; los ojos de Yahveh tu Dios están constantemente puestos en ella, desde que comienza el año hasta que termina.
13 So then, if you obey my commandments, which I am instructing to you this day, so that you love the Lord your God, and serve him with your whole heart and your whole soul,	13 Y si vosotros obedecéis puntualmente a los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, amando a Yahveh vuestro Dios y sirviéndole con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma,
14 he will give to your land the early rain and the late rain, so that you may gather your grain, and your wine, and your oil,	14 yo daré a vuestro país la lluvia a su tiempo, lluvia de otoño y lluvia de primavera, y tú podrás cosechar tu trigo, tu mosto y tu aceite;
15 and your hay from the fields in order to feed your cattle, and so that you yourselves may eat and be satisfied.	15 yo daré a tu campo hierba para tu ganado, y comerás hasta hartarte.
16 Be careful, lest perhaps your heart may be deceived, and you might withdraw from the Lord, and serve strange gods, and adore them.	16 Cuidad bien que no se pervierta vuestro corazón y os descarriéis a dar culto o otros dioses, y a postraros ante ellos;
17 And the Lord, becoming angry, might close up heaven, so that the rain would not descend, nor would the earth produce her seedlings, and then you would quickly perish from the excellent land, which the Lord will give to you.	17 pues la ira de Yahveh se encendería contra vosotros y cerraría los cielos, no habría más lluvia, el suelo no daría su fruto y vosotros pereceríais bien pronto en esa tierra buena que Yahveh os da.
18 Place these words of mine in your hearts and minds, and hang them as a sign on your hands, and arrange them between your eyes.	18 Poned estas palabras en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma, atadlas a vuestra mano como una señal, y sean como una insignia entre vuestros ojos.
19 Teach your sons to meditate on them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down or rise up.	19 Enseñádselas a vuestros hijos, hablando de ellas tanto si estás en casa como si vas de viaje, así acostado como levantado.
20 You shall write them upon the doorposts and the gates of your house,	20 Las escribirás en las jambas de tu casa y en tus puertas,
21 so that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your sons, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, that he would give it to them for as long as heaven is suspended above the earth.	21 para que vuestros días y los días de vuestros hijos en la tierra que Yahveh juró dar a vuestros padres sean tan numerosos como los días del cielo sobre la tierra.
22 For if you keep the commandments which I am entrusting to you, and if you do them, so that you love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, clinging to him,	22 Porque, si de verdad guardáis todos estos mandamientos que yo os mando practicar, amando a Yahveh vuestro Dios, siguiendo todos sus caminos y viviendo unidos a él,
23 the Lord will scatter all these nations before your face, and you shall possess them, though they are greater and stronger than you.	23 Yahveh desalojará delante de vosotros a todas esas naciones, y vosotros desalojaréis a naciones más numerosas y fuertes que vosotros.
24 Every place upon which your foot shall tread will be yours. From the desert, and from Lebanon, from the great river Euphrates, as far as the western sea, shall be your borders.	24 Todo lugar que pise la planta de vuestro pie será vuestro; desde el Río, el río Eufrates, hasta el mar occidental, se extenderá vuestro territorio.
25 No one will stand against you. The Lord your God will spread the terror and dread of you over all the land upon which you shall tread, just as he has spoken to you.	25 Nadie podrá resistiros; Yahveh vuestro Dios hará que se os tema y se os respete sobre la haz de toda la tierra que habéis de pisar, como él os ha dicho.
26 Behold, I am setting forth in your sight today a blessing and a curse.	26 Mira: Yo pongo hoy ante vosotros bendición y maldición.
27 It will be a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am instructing to you this day.	27 Bendición si escucháis los mandamientos de Yahveh vuestro Dios que yo os prescribo hoy,
28 It will be a curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but instead you withdraw from the way, which I am revealing to you now, and you walk after foreign gods that you have not known.	28 maldición si desoís los mandamientos de Yahveh vuestro Dios, si os apartáis del camino que yo os prescribo hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no conocéis.
29 Yet truly, when the Lord your God will have led you into the land, to which you are traveling for a habitation, you shall place the blessing upon Mount Gerizim, the curse upon Mount Ebal,	29 Cuando Yahveh tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra a la que vas a entrar para tomarla en posesión, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Garizim y la maldición sobre el monte Ebal.
30 which are across the Jordan, behind the way which slopes toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite, who lives in the plains opposite Gilgal, which is near the valley extending toward and entering a distant place.	30 (Estos montes están, como sabéis, al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino del poniente, en el país de los cananeos que habitan en la Arabá, frente a Guilgal, cerca de la Encina de Moré.)
31 For you shall cross over the Jordan, so that you may possess the land which the Lord your God will give you, so that you may have it and possess it.	31 Ya que vais a pasar el Jordán para ir a tomar posesión de la tierra que Yahveh vuestro Dios os da, cuando la poseáis y habitéis en ella,
32 Therefore, see to it that you fulfill the ceremonies and judgments, which I am placing in your sight this day.”	32 cuidaréis de poner en práctica todos los preceptos y normas que yo os expongo hoy.
