1 Now he also told them a parable, that we should continually pray and not cease,	1 Il leur raconta cette parabole pour dire qu’il faut prier sans cesse et ne pas se décourager:
2 saying: “There was a certain judge in a certain city, who did not fear God and did not respect man.	2 "Il y avait dans une ville un juge qui ne craignait pas Dieu et se moquait des gens.
3 But there was a certain widow in that city, and she went to him, saying, ‘Vindicate me from my adversary.’	3 Dans cette même ville il y avait une veuve qui venait lui dire: ‘Rends la sentence contre mon adversaire.’
4 And he refused to do so for a long time. But afterwards, he said within himself: ‘Even though I do not fear God, nor respect man,	4 “Tout un temps il refusa; puis il se dit: C’est vrai que je ne crains pas Dieu et que je n’ai rien à faire des gens,
5 yet because this widow is pestering me, I will vindicate her, lest by returning, she may, in the end, wear me out.’ ”	5 mais cette veuve me dérange à un tel point que je vais lui faire justice; sinon elle finira par me casser la tête.”
6 Then the Lord said: “Listen to what the unjust judge said.	6 Le Seigneur ajouta: "Écoutez bien ce qu’a dit ce juge très peu juste.
7 So then, will not God grant the vindication of his elect, who cry out to him day and night? Or will he continue to endure them?	7 Dieu ne fera-t-il pas justice à ses élus s’ils crient vers lui jour et nuit alors qu’il les fait attendre!
8 I tell you that he will quickly bring vindication to them. Yet truly, when the Son of man returns, do you think that he will find faith on earth?”	8 Je vous le dis: Il leur fera justice, et vite. Mais quand viendra le Fils de l’Homme, trouvera-t-il encore la foi sur la terre?”
9 Now about certain persons who consider themselves to be just, while disdaining others, he told also this parable:	9 Jésus dit cette autre parabole pour certains qui se flattaient d’être des “justes” et regardaient avec mépris le reste des hommes:
10 “Two men ascended to the temple, in order to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.	10 "Deux hommes étaient montés au Temple pour prier, l’un était un Pharisien, et l’autre un publicain.
11 Standing, the Pharisee prayed within himself in this way: ‘O God, I give thanks to you that I am not like the rest of men: robbers, unjust, adulterers, even as this tax collector chooses to be.	11 “Le Pharisien se tenait debout, et il priait ainsi en lui-même: Ô Dieu, je te rends grâce parce que je ne suis pas comme le reste des hommes, rapaces, injustes, adultères, ou même comme ce publicain.
12 I fast twice between Sabbaths. I give tithes from all that I possess.’	12 Je jeûne deux fois par semaine et je paie la dîme de tous mes revenus.
13 And the tax collector, standing at a distance, was not willing to even lift up his eyes to heaven. But he struck his chest, saying: ‘O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’	13 “Le publicain, lui, se tenait à distance: il n’osait même pas lever les yeux vers le ciel, mais il se frappait la poitrine et disait: Ô Dieu, aie pitié du pécheur que je suis!
14 I say to you, this one descended to his house justified, but not the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”	14 “Je vous le dis: Celui-ci était en grâce de Dieu quand il est descendu chez lui, mais pas l’autre! Car celui qui s’élève sera humilié, et celui qui s’humilie sera élevé.”
15 And they were bringing little children to him, so that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.	15 On lui présentait jusqu’à des bébés pour qu’il les touche; voyant cela, les disciples sermonnaient tout ce monde.
16 But Jesus, calling them together, said: “Allow the children to come to me, and do not be an obstacle to them. For of such is the kingdom of God.	16 Jésus alors les fait approcher et il dit: "Laissez les enfants venir à moi, ne les empêchez pas! Sachez que le Royaume de Dieu est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.
17 Amen, I say to you, whoever will not accept the kingdom of God like a child, will not enter into it.”	17 En vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui n’accueille pas le Royaume de Dieu comme un petit enfant n’y entrera pas.”
18 And a certain leader questioned him, saying: “Good teacher, what should I do to possess eternal life?”	18 Un chef interrogea Jésus: "Bon maître, que me faut-il faire si je veux recevoir la vie éternelle?”
19 Then Jesus said to him: “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.	19 Jésus lui répondit: "Pourquoi m’appelles-tu bon? Dieu seul est bon, et personne d’autre.
20 You know the commandments: You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony. Honor your father and mother.”	20 Tu connais les commandements: Ne commets pas l’adultère. Ne tue pas. Ne vole pas. Ne porte pas de faux témoignage. Respecte ton père et ta mère”.
21 And he said, “I have kept all these things from my youth.”	21 L’autre reprit: "J’ai observé tout cela depuis ma jeunesse.”
22 And when Jesus heard this, he said to him: “One thing is still lacking for you. Sell all the things that you have, and give to the poor. And then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.”	22 Alors Jésus lui dit: "Quelque chose te manque encore: vends tout ce que tu as et distribue-le à des pauvres, tu auras ainsi un trésor dans le ciel; puis reviens et suis-moi.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sorrowful. For he was very rich.	23 En entendant ces paroles l’homme devint tout triste, car il était fort riche.
24 Then Jesus, seeing him brought to sorrow, said: “How difficult it is for those who have money to enter into the kingdom of God!	24 Voyant cela, Jésus dit: "Comme il est difficile à ceux qui ont de l’argent d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu!
25 For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a wealthy man to enter into the kingdom of God.”	25 Il est plus facile pour un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille que pour un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”
26 And those who were listening to this said, “Then who is able to be saved?”	26 Ceux qui l’entendaient lui dirent alors: "Qui donc peut être sauvé?”
27 He said to them, “Things that are impossible with men are possible with God.”	27 Jésus répond: "Ce qui est impossible aux hommes est possible pour Dieu.”
28 And Peter said, “Behold, we have left everything, and we have followed you.”	28 Pierre lui dit: "Nous, nous avons tout quitté pour te suivre.”
29 And he said to them: “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has left behind home, or parents, or brothers, or a wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,	29 Jésus répondit: "En vérité, je vous le dis, personne ne laissera maison, femme, frères, parents ou enfants à cause du Royaume de Dieu,
30 who will not receive much more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”	30 sans recevoir beaucoup plus dès à présent et, dans le monde à venir, la vie éternelle.”
31 Then Jesus took the twelve aside, and he said to them: “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and everything shall be completed which was written by the prophets about the Son of man.	31 Jésus prit avec lui les Douze et leur dit: "Voici que nous montons à Jérusalem et tout ce qui a été écrit par les prophètes à propos du Fils de l’Homme va s’accomplir.
32 For he will be handed over to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked and scourged and spit upon.	32 Il sera livré aux païens, humilié, insulté, couvert de crachats,
33 And after they have scourged him, they will kill him. And on the third day, he will rise again.”	33 et après l’avoir fouetté, ils le tueront. Mais le troisième jour il ressuscitera.”
34 But they understood none of these things. For this word was concealed from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.	34 Eux ne comprenaient rien de tout cela; ce langage leur paraissait mystérieux et ils ne voyaient pas ce qu’il voulait leur dire.
35 Now it happened that, as he was approaching Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting beside the way, begging.	35 Jésus approchait de Jéricho, et il y avait un mendiant assis sur le bord du chemin. C’était un aveugle.
36 And when he heard the multitude passing by, he asked what this was.	36 Quand il entendit passer la foule, il demanda ce que c’était
37 And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.	37 et on le mit au courant: "C’est Jésus de Nazareth qui passe!”
38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”	38 Il se mit alors à crier: "Jésus, fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”
39 And those who were passing by rebuked him, so that he would be silent. Yet truly, he cried out all the more, “Son of David, take pity on me!”	39 Ceux qui étaient en tête voulurent le faire taire, mais lui criait de plus belle: "Fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”
40 Then Jesus, standing still, ordered him to be brought to him. And when he had drawn near, he questioned him,	40 Jésus s’arrêta et ordonna de le lui amener. Quand il fut tout près, Jésus l’interrogea:
41 saying, “What do you want, that I might do for you?” So he said, “Lord, that I may see.”	41 "Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi?” L’aveugle répondit: "Seigneur, que la vue me revienne!”
42 And Jesus said to him: “Look around. Your faith has saved you.”	42 Jésus lui dit: "Recouvre la vue, ta foi t’a sauvé!”
43 And immediately he saw. And he followed him, magnifying God. And all the people, when they saw this, gave praise to God.	43 Aussitôt il recouvra la vue, et il suivait Jésus en glorifiant Dieu. Voyant cela, tout le peuple proclama la louange de Dieu.
