1 For, behold, the day will arrive, kindled like a furnace, and all the arrogant and all those who act impiously will be stubble. And the approaching day will inflame them, says the Lord of hosts; it will leave behind for them neither root, nor sprout.	1 Ecco che il giorno verrà come ardente fornace: tutti i superbi e tutti gli empi saranno stoppie, e quel giorno, quando viene, li brucerà senza lasciare in loro nè radici, nè polloni.
2 But unto you, who fear my name, the Sun of justice will arise, and health will be in his wings. And you will go forth and leap like the calves of the herd.	2 Invece per voi che temete il mio nome, allora spunterà il Sole di giustizia, sotto le ali del quale sta la salute, e voi saltellerete come vitelli di armento;
3 And you will trample the impious, while they will be ashes under the sole of your foot, on the day that I act, says the Lord of hosts.	3 e calpesterete gli empi, diventati cenere sotto le piante dei vostri piedi, nel giorno in cui agirò io — dice il Signore degli eserciti.
4 Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him on Horeb for all Israel, the precepts and the judgments.	4 Ricordatevi della legge di Mosè mio servo, ai quale io la detti sull'Oreb per tutto Israele, coi miei precetti e comandamenti.
5 Behold, I will send to you Elijah the prophet, before the arrival of the great and terrible day of the Lord.	5 Ecco, io manderò a voi il profeta Elia, avanti che venga il giorno grande e tremendo del Signore.
6 And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with anathema.	6 Egli farà tornare il cuore dei padri verso i figli, e il cuore dei figli verso i padri, chè io non venga e non stermini la terra.
