Hosea 1

1 The word of the Lord that came to Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel.	1 Questo è lo detto, che disse lo Signore Iddio a Osea profeta, il quale fu figliuolo di Beeri, e fu nel tempo dello re Ozia e di Ioatan, di Acaz e di Ezechia re di Giuda, e nel tempo di Ieroboam figliuolo di Ioas, re d' Israel.
2 The beginning of the Lord’s conversation with Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea: “Go, take to yourself a wife of fornications, and make for yourself sons of fornications, because, by fornicating, the land will fornicate away from the Lord.”	2 Fue questo lo principio del parlare di Dio a Osea; e disse lo Signore a Osea: va, e piglia una moglie di fornicazioni, e fàtti figliuoli di fornicazioni; però che la terra commetterà contro a me fornicazioni.
3 And he went out and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived and bore him a son.	3 E andò Osea, e pigliò per moglie (una che avea nome) Gomer figliuola di (uno che si chiamava) Debelaim; e generò e partorì uno figliuolo.
4 And the Lord said to him: “Call his name Jezreel because, after a little while, I will visit the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and I will put the kingdom of the house of Israel to rest.	4 E Iddio li disse: fa che tu poni lo nome a questo figliuolo, che t' è nato, Iezrael; però che di qui a poco io visiterò lo sangue di Iezrael sopra la casa di Ieu, e farò tacere lo reame della casa d' Israel.
5 And in that day, I will crush the stronghold of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.”	5 E in quel dì spezzerò l'arco d'Israel nella valle di Iezrael.
6 And after a while, she conceived and bore a daughter. And he said to him: “Call her name, Without Mercy, for I will no longer have mercy on the house of Israel, but I will utterly forget them.	6 E anco generò e partorì una figliuola. E disse: ponli nome (e chiamala) Sanza misericordia; però ch' io non mi riducerò più ad avere misericordia [alla casa] d' Israel; ma io la porrò per dimenticare, e dimenticherolla.
7 Yet I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the Lord their God. And I will not save them by bow and sword and battle and horses and horsemen.”	7 E averò misericordia della casa di Giuda, e salverolli nello (libro del) Signore Iddio; e non li salverò in battaglia nè in coltello, nè nello arco nè ne' cavalli nè ne' cavalieri; (cioè tanto vuole dire che lo Signore non ha misericordia di noi per nostre gagliardie e per nostre leggiadrie, ma ello ha misericordia di coloro che istaranno al suo servigio e vivono sanza malizia).
8 And she weaned her, who was called Without Mercy. And she conceived and bore a son.	8 E quella che si chiamava Sanza misericordia levò dalla poppa. E anche generò e partori uno figliuolo.
9 And he said: “Call his name, Not My People, for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.	9 E disseli: chiamalo per nome Non (per) popolo mio; però che voi non siete mio popolo, e io non sarò vostro Iddio.
10 And the number of the sons of Israel will be like the sand of the sea, which is without measure and cannot be numbered. And in the place where it will be said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ this will happen: it will be said to them, ‘You are the sons of the living God.’	10 E sarà lo numero de' figliuoli d' Israel quasi come la rena del mare, la quale è sanza misura, e non si puote annumerare. E saranno in quello luogo dove sarà loro detto: non popolo mio voi; [sarà loro detto]: siete figliuoli dello Iddio vivente.
11 And the sons of Judah, and the sons of Israel, will be gathered together. And they will place over themselves one head, and they will rise up from the earth, for great is the day of Jezreel.”	11 E li figliuoli di Giuda si raduneranno, e somigliantemente li figliuoli d' Israel, e farannosi uno capo loro, (per che è lo tempo), e leverannosi della terra; però che lo dì di Iezrael sarà grande.
