Ezekiel 33

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	1 E fu fatta la parola di Dio a me, e disse:
2 “Son of man, speak to the sons of your people, and you shall say to them: Concerning the land, when I will have led the sword over it: if the people of the land take a man, one of their least, and appoint him over themselves as a watchman,	2 O figliuolo d' uomo, parla a' figliuoli delli uomini di Tiro, e dirai loro: questa terra, quando io averò mandato sopra lei lo coltello, e lo popolo della terra averà tolto uno uomo de' suoi novissimi, e averallo constituito ragguardatore sopra sè;
3 and if he sees the sword approaching over the land, and he sounds the trumpet, and he announces to the people,	3 e quello averà veduto lo coltello venente sopra la terra, e averà fatto segno colla tromba, e averallo annunziato al popolo;
4 then, having heard the sound of the trumpet, whoever he is, if he also does not take care of himself, and the sword arrives and takes him: his blood will be upon his own head.	4 e udendo, chi [egli] si sia, lo suono della tromba, non si sarà ritenuto, e lo coltello sarà venuto, e torrallo, lo suo sangue sarà sopra lo suo capo.
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and he did not take care of himself, so his blood will be upon him. But if he guards himself, he will save his own life.	5 Egli udio lo suono della tromba, e non si osservò (cioè di mal fare); però lo suo sangue sarà sopra lui; e se si sarà guardato (cioè di mal fare), egli salverà l'anima sua.
6 And if the watchman sees the sword approaching, and he does not sound the trumpet, and so the people do not guard themselves, and the sword arrives and takes some of their lives, certainly these have been taken due to their own iniquity. But I will attribute their blood to the hand of the watchman.	6 E se lo suo ragguardatore averà veduto lo coltello che vegnìa, e non averà sonata la tromba, e lo popolo non si sarà guardato, e lo coltello sarà venuto, e averà tolto l'anima di loro; in verità quello sì è preso nella sua iniquità, e io richiederò lo sangue [suo] della mano dello riguardatore.
7 And as for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore, having heard the word from my mouth, you shall announce it to them from me.	7 O tu, figliuolo d' uomo, io t'ho posto ragguardatore sopra la casa d' Israel; e tu udendo la parola della mia bocca, annunziera'la loro da me.
8 When I say to the impious, ‘O impious man, you will die a death,’ if you have not spoken so that the impious man will keep himself from his way, then that impious man will die in his iniquity. But I will attribute his blood to your hand.	8 Se io dicendo al malvagio: tu sarai morto di morte, allora se tu non averai parlato che si guardi dalla sua mala via; egli morrà nella sua iniquità, ma lo suo sangue io richiederò della tua mano.
9 But if you have announced to the impious man, so that he may be converted from his ways, and he has not converted from his way, then he will die in his iniquity. Yet you will have freed your own soul.	9 E se tu annunzierai allo malvagio, che si converta delle sue male vie, e non sarà convertito, egli morrà nella sua iniquità; e alla fine tu hai liberata l'anima tua.
10 You, therefore, O son of man, say to the house of Israel: You have spoken in this way, saying: ‘Our iniquities and our sins are upon us, and we waste away in them. So then, how would we be able to live?’	10 Adunque tu, figliuolo d' uomo, di' alla casa d' Israel: così avete parlato, dicendo: le nostre iniquitadi e li nostri peccati sì sono sopra noi, e in quelli noi ci stiamo; adunque come potremo noi vivere?
11 Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I do not desire the death of the impious, but that the impious should convert from his way and live. Be converted, be converted from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?	11 E tu di' a loro: io vivo, dice lo Signore Iddio; io non voglio la morte del peccatore, ma voglio che si converta dal suo male, e viva. E però convertitevi delle vostre vie ree; e, o tu, casa d'Israel, per che morrete?
12 And as for you then, son of man, say to the sons of your people: The justice of the just man will not deliver him, on whatever day he will have sinned. And the impiety of the impius man will not harm him, on whatever day he will have been converted from his impiety. And the just man will not be able to live by his justice, on whatever day he will have sinned.	12 E tu, figliuolo d' uomo, di' alli figliuoli del popolo tuo: la giustizia del giusto non lo liberrà, in qualunque die averà peccato; e la malvagità del malvagio non li nocerà, in qualunque die egli sarà convertito dalla sua malvagità; e lo giusto non potrà vivere nella sua giustizia, in qualunque die egli averà peccato.
13 Even now, if I say to the just man that he shall certainly live, and so, with confidence in his justice, he commits iniquity, all his justices will be delivered into oblivion, and by his iniquity, which he has done, by this he shall die.	13 Ancora s' io averò detto al giusto, che la sua vita viva, e confidato nella sua giustizia averà fatto male; tutte le sue giustizie (cioè tutti i suoi beni) saranno dimenticati, e nel suo male che averà adoperato, in quello morrà.
14 And if I say to the impious man, ‘You shall certainly die,’ and yet he repents from his sin, and he does judgment and justice,	14 E se io averò detto al malvagio: tu morrai, ed egli poi averà fatta penitenza del suo peccato, e farà (bene e) giustizia e giudicio,
15 and if that impious man returns the collateral, and repays what he has taken by force, and if he walks in the commandments of life, and does not do anything unjust, then he shall certainly live, and he shall not die.	15 e (quello malvagio) averà restituito lo pegno, e averà renduta la rapina, e sarà andato ne' comandamenti della vita (cioè di Dio), e non averà fatta alcuna cosa ingiusta; viverà, e non morrà.
16 None of his sins, which he has committed, will be imputed to him. He has done judgment and justice, so he shall certainly live.	16 Tutti i suoi peccati, ch' egli ha fatti, non gli saranno imputati; però ch' egli ha fatto giudicio e giustizia, averà vita.
17 And the sons of your people have said, ‘The way of the Lord is not a fair balance,’ even while their own way is unjust.	17 E dissono li figliuoli del tuo popolo: la via del Signore non è d' egual peso; e la via di queste cose si è ingiusta.
18 For when the just man will have withdraw from his justice, and committed iniquities, he shall die by these.	18 Però che quando lo giusto si partirà della sua giustizia, e averà fatto le iniquitadi, morrà in quelle.
19 And when the impious man will have withdrawn from his impiety, and have done judgment and justice, he shall live by these.	19 E quando lo malvagio sarà partito della sua malvagità, e averà fatto giudicio e giustizia, egli viverà in quello.
20 And yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not right.’ But I shall judge each one of you according to his own ways, O house of Israel.”	20 E voi dite: la via di Dio non è diritta. Ciascuno di voi, della casa d' Israel, io giudicherò secondo ch' ello averà fatto.
21 And it happened that, in the twelfth year of our transmigration, in the tenth month, on the fifth of the month, one who had fled from Jerusalem arrived saying, “The city has been laid waste.”	21 E fu fatto nel XII anno, nel mese X, a' V di del mese della nostra transmigrazione, venne uno a me, il quale era fuggito di Ierusalem, e disse: la cittade sì è guastata.
22 But the hand of the Lord had been upon me in the evening, before the one who had fled arrived. And he opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning. And since my mouth had been opened, I was no longer silent.	22 E la mano di Dio era fatta a me la sera, inanzi che venisse quello ch' era fuggito; e aperso la mia bocca, infino a tanto ch' elli venne la mattina, e aperta la mia bocca non taceo più.
23 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	23 E disse Iddio a me:
24 “Son of man, as for those who live in these ruinous ways on the soil of Israel, when speaking, they say: ‘Abraham was one man, and he possessed the land as an inheritance. But we are many; the land has been given to us as a possession.’	24 O figliuolo d' uomo, quelli che àbitano la terra d'Israel ne' luoghi rovinosi, parlando dicono: uno era Abraam, e possedeo la terra per ereditate; e noi siamo molti, e la terra è data a noi in possessione.
25 Therefore, you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: You who eat even the blood, and who lift up your eyes to your uncleannesses, and who shed blood: will you possess the land as an inheritance?	25 Però dirai a loro: questo dice lo Signore: voi i quali manicate in sangue, e levate li vostri occhi alle [vostre] brutture, e spargete lo sangue, adunque voi possederete la terra per ereditate?
26 You stood by your swords, you committed abominations, and each one has defiled his neighbor’s wife. And will you possess the land as an inheritance?	26 Voi siete stati nelli vostri coltelli, e faceste le (vostre) abominazioni, e ciascuno corruppe la moglie del suo prossimo; e possederete la terra per ereditate?
27 You shall say these things to them: So says the Lord God: As I live, those who live in ruinous ways will fall by the sword. And whoever is in the field will be delivered over to wild beasts to be devoured. But those who are in fortresses and in caves will die of the pestilence.	27 Questo dirai a loro: così dice lo Signore Iddio: io vivo, però che quelli che àbitano nelli luoghi rovinosi, cadranno per lo coltello; e quello del campo sarà dato a rovinare alle bestie; e quelli che sono nelle fortezze e nelle spelonche, morranno di pestilenza.
28 And I will make the land into a wilderness and a desert. And its arrogant strength will fail. And the mountains of Israel will be desolate; for there will be no one who crosses through them.	28 E la terra darò per deserto e per isbandeggiamento, e la superbia e la sua fortezza verrà meno; e li monti d' Israel saranno desolati, però che non sarà chi passi per quelli.
29 And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have make their land desolate and deserted, because of all their abominations, which they have worked.	29 E sapranno ch' io sono Iddio, quando io averò fatta la loro terra desolata per le universe loro abominazioni, le quali hanno adoperate.
30 And as for you, O son of man: the sons of your people speak about you beside the walls and in the doorways of houses. And they speak to one another, each man to his neighbor, saying: ‘Come, and let us hear what may be the word going forth from the Lord.’	30 E tu, figliuolo d' uomo, li figliuoli del popolo tuo, i quali parlano di te a lato alle mura e nelli usci delle case, dicono l' uno all' altro, l'uomo al suo prossimo, parlando: venite, e udiamo che parola è quella che procede da Dio.
31 And they come to you, as if the people were entering, and my people sit before you. And they listen to your words, but they do not do them. For they turn them into a song for their mouth, but their heart pursues their own avarice.	31 E veneno a te, così come se lo mio popolo v' entrasse, e lo mio popolo sederanno inanzi a te; e odono le tue parole, e non le osservano, però che le mutano in canzoni, e lo loro cuore sèguita pure l'avarizia.
32 And you are to them like a verse set to music, which is sung with a sweet and pleasing voice. And they hear your words, but they do not do them.	32 Ed è a loro come uno verso di canto, lo quale si canta con dolce e con suave suono; e udiranno le tue parole, e non le osserveranno.
33 And when what has been predicted occurs, for behold it is approaching, then they shall know that a prophet was among them.”	33 E quando sarà venuto quello che è predetto; ed ecco che verrà; allora sapranno che li profeti saranno istati in loro.
