Jeremiah 36

1 And it happened in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah: it happened that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:	1 - E avvenne nel quarto anno di Joachim, figlio di Josia, re di Giuda, che il Signore comunicò a Geremia questa parola dicendogli:
2 “Take the volume of a book, and you shall write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel and Judah, and against all the nations, from the day when I first spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.	2 «Prendi un rotolo da scrivere e metti per iscritto tutte le parole che ti ho detto contro Israele e Giuda e contro tutte le genti, dal giorno in cui ho parlato con te ai tempi di Josia fino ad oggi:
3 Perhaps it may be that the house of Judah, upon hearing all the evils that I have decided to do to them, may return, each one from his wicked way, and then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.”	3 se mai per avventura, udendo quei della casa di Giuda tutte le sciagure che ho disposto di mandar loro, si ravvedano ritraendosi ciascuno dalla sua mala via, e m'induca a perdonare la loro iniquità e il loro peccato».
4 Therefore, Jeremiah called Baruch, the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote, from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of the Lord, which he had spoken to him, in the volume of a book.	4 Allora Geremia chiamò Baruc, figlio di Neria; e Baruc scrisse dalla bocca di Geremia in quel libro, tutte le parole divine che il Signore gli aveva dette.
5 And Jeremiah instructed Baruch, saying: “I am confined, and so I am unable to enter into the house of the Lord.	5 Poi Geremia diede ordine a Baruc dicendogli: «Io sono sotto custodia e non posso recarmi alla casa del Signore:
6 Therefore, you shall enter and read from the volume, in which you have written from my mouth the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the house of the Lord on the day of the fast. Moreover, you shall also read them in the hearing of all those of Judah who are arriving from their cities.	6 recati tu e dal rotolo, sul quale hai scritto sotto la mia dettatura, leggi le parole del Signore in guisa che le oda il popolo nella casa del Signore durante la festa del digiuno e inoltre per farle udire a tutto il popolo di Giuda che accorre dai propri paesi le leggerai,
7 Perhaps it may happen that they pray in the sight of the Lord, and each one may return from his wicked way. For great is the fury and indignation that the Lord has declared against this people.”	7 se mai avvenga che umilino la loro preghiera nel cospetto del Signore e che si ravveda ciascuno dalla sua pessima via, sentendo quanto grande è l'ira e la indignazione che il Signore ha manifestato contro questo popolo».
8 And Baruch, the son of Neriah, acted in accord with all that Jeremiah, the prophet, had instructed him, reading from the volume the words of the Lord, in the house of the Lord.	8 E Baruc, figlio di Neria, fece secondo tutto quello che gli aveva ordinato Geremia profeta, leggendo dal libro le parole del Signore nella casa del Signore.
9 And it happened that, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, in the ninth month, they proclaimed a fast, in the sight of the Lord, to all the people in Jerusalem, and to the entire multitude which had flowed together, from the cities of Judah, into Jerusalem.	9 E avvenne, nel quinto anno di Joachim figlio di Josia, re di Giuda, nel nono mese, che bandirono il digiuno nel cospetto del Signore, per tutto il popolo in Gerusalemme e per tutta la moltitudine che si era riversata dalle città di Giuda in Gerusalemme.
10 And Baruch read from the volume the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, at the treasury of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper vestibule, at the entrance to the new gate of the house of the Lord, in the hearing of all the people.	10 E Baruc si pose a leggere dal libro le parole di Geremia nella casa del Signore, nella tesoreria di Gamaria figlio di Safan scriba nell'atrio superiore all'ingresso della porta nuova della casa del Signore, alle orecchie di tutto il popolo.
11 And when Micaiah, the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard all the words of the Lord from the book,	11 E Michea, figlio di Gamaria, figlio di Safan, avendo udite tutte le parole del Signore che venivano lette dal libro,
12 he descended to the house of the king, to the treasury of the scribe. And behold, all the leaders were sitting there: Elishama, the scribe, and Delaiah, the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah, the son of Hananiah, and all the leaders.	12 discese al palazzo del re, alla tesoreria dello scriba, ed ecco che tutti i principi tenevano seduta: Elisama scriba e Dalaia, figlio di Semeia, Elnatan figlio di Acobor, e Gamaria figlio di Safan, e Sedecia figlio di Anania e tutti gli altri principi.
13 And Micaiah announced to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read from the volume to the ears of the people.	13 E Michea espose tutti i sermoni uditi dietro la lettura che Baruc faceva del libro, davanti al popolo che l'ascoltava.
14 And so, all the leaders sent Jehudi, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the volume, from which you have read in the hearing of the people, and come.” Therefore, Baruch, the son of Neriah, took the volume in his hand, and he went to them.	14 Allora tutti i principi mandarono Judi, figlio di Natania, figlio di Selemia, figlio di Cusi a Baruc per dirgli: «Prendi il libro che hai tra mano su cui hai fatto lettura in presenza del popolo che ascolta e vieni». E Baruc, figlio di Neria, prese il libro in mano e se ne venne a loro.
15 And they said to him, “Sit and read these things in our hearing.” And Baruch read in their hearing.	15 Gli dissero: «Siedi e leggi che sentiamo». E Baruc lesse mentre stavano ad ascoltare.
16 Therefore, when they had heard all the words, each one looked at his neighbor in astonishment, and they said to Baruch: “We ought to report all these words to the king.”	16 Dopo dunque che ebbero udito tutte quelle parole, si guardarono a vicenda con stupore e dissero a Baruc: «Bisogna che noi denunciamo al re tutte queste parole».
17 And they questioned him, saying, “Describe to us how you wrote all these words from his mouth.”	17 Poi lo interrogarono dicendogli: «Raccontaci un po' come hai scritto tutte queste parole raccogliendole dalla sua bocca».
18 Then Baruch said to them: “He was speaking with his mouth, as if reading to me. And I wrote in a volume with ink.”	18 E Baruc rispose loro: «Recitava a viva voce come se mi leggesse tutte queste parole ed io le metteva per iscritto sul libro coll'inchiostro».
19 And the leaders said to Baruch: “Go away and hide, you and Jeremiah, and let no one know where you are.”	19 E i principi dissero a Baruc: «Va' e state nascosti tu e Geremia, che nessuno sappia dove siete».
20 And they entered to the king, in the court. Furthermore, they stored the volume in the treasury of Elishama, the scribe. And they announced all the words in the hearing of the king.	20 Poi entrarono dal re nell'aula; il libro però l'avevano lasciato nella tesoreria in consegna a Elisama scriba; portarono alle orecchie del re tutte quelle parole.
21 And the king sent Jehudi to take the volume. And bringing it from the treasury of Elishama, the scribe, he read it in the hearing of the king and of all the leaders who were standing around the king.	21 Allora il re mandò Judi a prendere il libro e questi, recatolo dalla tesoreria di Elisama scriba, lo lesse davanti al re che ascoltava e a tutti i principi che lo attorniavano.
22 Now the king was sitting in the winter house, in the ninth month. And there was a hearth placed before him, filled with burning coals.	22 Il re stava allora nell'appartamento d'inverno, essendo il nono mese, e un braciere era stato collocato dinanzi a lui pieno di brace.
23 And when Jehudi had read three or four pages, he cut it with a small knife, and he threw it into the fire which was upon the hearth, until the entire volume was consumed by the fire which was upon the hearth.	23 Letto che ebbe Judi tre o quattro colonne del libro, il re col temperino dello scriba lo fece in pezzi e lo gettò sul fuoco che era nel braciere, finchè tutto il libro fu consumato dal fuoco che era nel braciere.
24 And the king and all his servants, who had heard all these words, were not afraid, and they did not rend their garments.	24 Ma nè il re, nè alcuno di tutti i suoi ministri che avevano udito quelle parole furono compresi di timore, nè si stracciarono le vestimenta in segno di pentimento.
25 Yet truly, Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah contradicted the king, so that he might not burn the book. But he did not listen to them.	25 Però Elnatan, Dalaia e Gamaria si erano opposti al re perchè non bruciasse il libro, ma egli non li ascoltò.
26 And the king instructed Jerahmeel, the son of Amelech, and Seraiah, the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah, the son of Abdeel, so that they would apprehend Baruch, the scribe, and Jeremiah, the prophet. But the Lord concealed them.	26 Poi il re diede ordine a Jeremiel, figlio di Amelec, e a Saraia, figlio di Ezriel, e a Selemia, figlio di Abdeel che arrestassero lo scrivano Baruc e il profeta Geremia, ma il Signore li nascose.
27 And after the king had burned the volume and the words that Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremiah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, the prophet, saying:	27 E il Signore comunicò la sua parola a Geremia profeta, dopo che il re ebbe bruciato il libro coi discorsi che Baruc vi aveva scritti dalla bocca di Geremia, e gli disse:
28 “Again, take another volume and write in it all the former words, which were in the first volume that Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, has burned.	28 «Prendi di nuovo un altro libro e scrivi sopra tutti i precedenti discorsi che erano sul libro di prima, quello che bruciò Joachim, re di Giuda.
29 And you shall say to Jehoiakim, the king of Judah: Thus says the Lord: You have burned that volume, saying: ‘Why have you written in it, announcing that the king of Babylon will advance quickly, and will devastate this land, and will cause both man and beast to cease from it?’	29 E a Joachim re di Giuda dirai: - Così dice il Signore: "Tu hai bruciato quel libro dicendo: Perchè hai scritto in esso pubblicando che verrà, verrà presto il re di Babilonia e devasterà questa terra e la lascerà vuota di uomini e di animali?".-
30 Because of this, thus says the Lord against Jehoiakim, the king of Judah: There will be, from him, no one who may sit upon the throne of David. And his dead body shall be cast out: to the heat by day, and to the frost by night.	30 Per questo, il Signore dice così contro Joachim, re di Giuda: - Non lascerà dietro di sè alcuno che segga sul trono di David e il suo cadavere resterà abbandonato al raggio cocente del giorno e al gelo della notte.
31 And I will visit against him, and against his offspring, and against his servants for their iniquities. And I will lead over them, and over the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and over the men of Judah, all the evil that I have declared against them, for they have not listened.”	31 E farò scontare sopra di lui e sopra alla sua discendenza e sopra i suoi ministri le sue iniquità, e farò venire su di loro e sopra gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e sopra le gente di Giuda tutto il male che ho loro annunziato del quale non hanno ascoltato la minaccia -».
32 Then Jeremiah took up another volume, and he gave it to Baruch, the son of Neriah, the scribe, who wrote in it, from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of the book that Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, had burned with fire. And moreover, there were many more words added than there had been before.	32 Indi Geremia prese un altro libro e lo diede a Baruc, figlio di Neria, suo scrivano, il quale riscrisse su di esso, dalla bocca di Geremia, tutte le parole del libro che Joachim, re di Giuda, aveva bruciato sul fuoco e di più vi furono aggiunti molti altri sermoni che prima non erano.
