Proverbs 8

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Does not wisdom call out, and prudence bestow her voice?	1 Por ventura não clama a Sabedoria e a inteligência não eleva a sua voz?
2 At the summits and the tops of exalted places, standing above the ways, in the midst of the paths,	2 No cume das montanhas posta-se ela, e nas encruzilhadas dos caminhos.
3 beside the gates of the city, at the very doors, she speaks, saying:	3 Alça sua voz na entrada das torres, junto às portas, nas proximidades da cidade.
4 “O men, to you I call out, and my voice is to the sons of men.	4 É a vós, ó homens, que eu apelo; minha voz se dirige aos filhos dos homens.
5 O little ones, understand discernment. And you who are unwise, turn your souls.	5 Ó simples, aprendei a prudência, adquiri a inteligência, ó insensatos.
6 Listen, for I will speak about great things, and my lips will be opened, so as to foretell what is right.	6 Prestai atenção, pois! Coisas magníficas vos anuncio, de meus lábios só sairá retidão,
7 My throat shall practice truth, and my lips shall detest the impious.	7 porque minha boca proclama a verdade e meus lábios detestam a iniqüidade.
8 All my words are just. There is no depravity in them, and no perversity.	8 Todas as palavras de minha boca são justas, nelas nada há de falso nem de tortuoso.
9 They are upright to those who understand, and equitable to those who discover knowledge.	9 São claras para os que as entendem e retas para o que chegou à ciência.
10 Accept my discipline, and not money. Choose the doctrine that is greater than gold.	10 Recebei a instrução e não o dinheiro. Preferi a ciência ao fino ouro,
11 For wisdom is better than all that is most precious, and everything that is desirable cannot compare to her.	11 pois a Sabedoria vale mais que as pérolas e jóia alguma a pode igualar.
12 I, wisdom, dwell in counsel, and I am inside learned thoughts.	12 Eu, a Sabedoria, sou amiga da prudência, possuo uma ciência profunda.
13 The fear of the Lord hates evil. I detest arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.	13 O temor do Senhor é o ódio ao mal. Orgulho, arrogância, caminho perverso, boca mentirosa: eis o que eu detesto.
14 Counsel is mine, and equity. Prudence is mine. Strength is mine.	14 Meu é o conselho e o bom êxito, minha a inteligência, minha a força.
15 Through me, kings reign and legislators decree just conditions.	15 Por mim reinam os reis e os legisladores decretam a justiça;
16 Through me, princes rule and the powerful decree justice.	16 por mim governam os magistrados e os magnatas regem a terra.
17 I love those who love me. And those who stand watch for me until morning shall discover me.	17 Amo os que me amam. Quem me procura, encontra-me.
18 With me, are wealth and glory, superb riches and justice.	18 Comigo estão a riqueza e a glória, os bens duráveis e a justiça.
19 For my fruit is better than gold and precious stones, and my progeny better than choice silver.	19 Mais precioso que o mais fino ouro é o meu fruto, meu produto tem mais valor que a mais fina prata.
20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,	20 Sigo o caminho da justiça, no meio da senda da eqüidade.
21 so that I may enrich those who love me, and thus complete their treasures.	21 Deixo os meus haveres para os que me amam e acumulo seus tesouros.
22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made anything, from the beginning.	22 O Senhor me criou, como primícia de suas obras, desde o princípio, antes do começo da terra.
23 I was ordained from eternity, and out of antiquity, before the earth was formed.	23 Desde a eternidade fui formada, antes de suas obras dos tempos antigos.
24 The abyss did not yet exist, and I was already conceived; neither had the fountains of waters yet erupted.	24 Ainda não havia abismo quando fui concebida, e ainda as fontes das águas não tinham brotado.
25 The mountains, with their great mass, had not yet been established. Before the hills, I was brought forth.	25 Antes que assentados fossem os montes, antes dos outeiros, fui dada à luz;
26 Still he had not made the earth, and the rivers, and the poles of the globe of the earth.	26 antes que fossem feitos a terra e os campos e os primeiros elementos da poeira do mundo.
27 I was already present: when he prepared the heavens; when, with a certain law and a circuit, he fortified the abyss;	27 Quando ele preparava os céus, ali estava eu; quando traçou o horizonte na superfície do abismo,
28 when he made firm the sky above, and set free the fountains of waters;	28 quando firmou as nuvens no alto, quando dominou as fontes do abismo,
29 when he encompassed the sea within its limits, and laid down a law for the waters, lest they transgress their limits; when he weighed the foundations of the earth.	29 quando impôs regras ao mar, para que suas águas não transpusessem os limites, quando assentou os fundamentos da terra,
30 I was with him in composing all things. And I was delighted, throughout every day, by playing in his sight at all times,	30 junto a ele estava eu como artífice, brincando todo o tempo diante dele,
31 playing in globe of the earth. And my delight was to be with the sons of men.	31 brincando sobre o globo de sua terra, achando as minhas delícias junto aos filhos dos homens.
32 Therefore, sons, hear me now. Blessed are those who preserve my ways.	32 E agora, meus filhos, escutai-me: felizes aqueles que guardam os meus caminhos.
33 Listen to discipline, and become wise, and do not be willing to cast it aside.	33 Ouvi minha instrução para serdes sábios, não a rejeiteis.
34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, and who stands watch at my gates everyday, and who observes at the posts of my doors.	34 Feliz o homem que me ouve e que vela todos os dias à minha porta e guarda os umbrais de minha casa!
35 He who finds me, finds life, and he will draw salvation from the Lord.	35 Pois quem me acha encontra a vida e alcança o favor do Senhor.
36 But he who sins against me will wound his own soul. All who hate me love death.”	36 Mas quem me ofende, prejudica-se a si mesmo; quem me odeia, ama a morte.
