1 The impious flees, though no one pursues. But the just, like a confident lion, shall be without dread.	1 Fugge l'empio senza avere chi lo incalzi: ma il giusto è franco come un lione, e senza timore.
2 Because of the sins of the land, it has many princes. And because of the wisdom of a man, and the knowledge of those things that are said, the life of the leader shall be prolonged.	2 A motivo de' peccati del mondo si moltiplicano li suoi principi; ma per la sapienza di un uomo, e per la cognizione delle cose che si insegnano, la vita del principe sarà più lunga.
3 A poor man slandering the poor is like a violent rainstorm in advance of a famine.	3 Un uomo povero, che opprime i poveri, è simile ad una pioggia violenta, che prepara la carestia.
4 Those who abandon the law praise the impious. Those who guard it are inflamed against him.	4 Quelli, che abbandonan la legge, lodano l'empio: quelli, che la osservano ardono di zelo contro di lui.
5 Evil men do not intend judgment. But those who inquire after the Lord turn their souls toward all things.	5 I malvaggi non pensano a quel, che è giusto; ma quelli, che cercano il Signore badano a ogni cosa.
6 Better is the pauper walking in his simplicity, than the rich walking in ways of depravity.	6 E più stimabile il povero, che cammina nella sua semplicità, che il ricco negli storti suoi andamenti.
7 Whoever keeps the law is a wise son. But whoever feeds gluttons brings shame to his father.	7 Chi osserva la legge è un saggio figliuolo; ma chi pasce i mangiatori, fa vergogna a suo padre.
8 Whoever piles up riches by usury and profit gathers them for him who will give freely to the poor.	8 Chi aduna ricchezze per mezzo di usure, e di scrocchi, le aduna per un uomo liberale verso de' poveri.
9 Whoever turns away his ears from listening to the law: his prayer will be detestable.	9 Chi chiude le orecchie per non ascoltare la legge, la orazione di lui sarà in esecrazione.
10 Whoever deceives the just in a malicious way will fall into his own perdition. And the simple shall possess his goods.	10 Chi con frode conduce i giusti nella mala via, precipiterà nella propria sua fossa: e gli innocenti saran padroni de' beni di lui.
11 The rich one seems wise to himself. But the poor one, being prudent, shall evaluate him.	11 L'uomo ricco si crede sapiente: ma il povero dotato di prudenza lo smaschererà.
12 In the exultation of the just, there is great glory. When the impious reign, men are brought to ruin.	12 Nella prosperità de' giusti travasi gloria grande: sotto il regno degli empj vanno in rovina gli uomini.
13 Whoever hides his crimes will not be guided. But whoever will have confessed and abandoned them shall overtake mercy.	13 Chi nasconde i suoi delitti, non avrà bene; ma chi li confessa, e gli abbandona, otterrà misericordia.
14 Blessed is the man who is ever fearful. Yet truly, whoever is hardened in mind will fall into evil.	14 Beato l'uomo, che è sempre timoroso; ma chi è duro di cuore precipiterà in sciagure.
15 An impious leader over a poor people is like a roaring lion and a hungry bear.	15 Lion che rugge, orso affamato egli è un principe empio, che regna sopra un povero popolo.
16 A leader destitute of prudence will oppress many through false accusations. But whoever hates avarice shall prolong his days.	16 Un principe che manca di prudenza, opprimerà molti con vessazioni: ma chi odia l'avarizia farà lunga vita.
17 A man who slanders the blood of a life, even if he flees to the pit, no one will tolerate him.	17 Chi per via di calunnie sparge il sangue, in cui è la vita, quand'anche fugga sino a gittarsi in un baratro, nissuno lo riterrà.
18 Whoever walks simply shall be saved. Whoever is perverse in his steps will fall all at once.	18 Chi cammina con semplicità, avrà salute; chi batte vie storte, caderà una volta.
19 Whoever works his land shall be satisfied with bread. But whoever pursues leisure will be filled with need.	19 Chi lavora la sua terra, avrà del pane da satollarsi; ma chi è amico dell'ozio, abbonderà di miserie.
20 A faithful man shall be greatly praised. But whoever rushes to become rich will not be innocent.	20 L'uomo leale sarà lodato assai: ma chi ha fretta di farsi ricco, non sarà innocente.
21 Whoever shows favoritism in judgment does not do well; even if it is for a morsel of bread, he forsakes the truth.	21 Chi in giudizio è accettator di persone, non fa bene; costui anche per un tozzo di pane abbandona la verità.
22 A man who hurries to become rich, and who envies others, does not know that destitution will overwhelm him.	22 L'uomo, che ha fretta di arricchire, e porta invidia ad altri, ci non sa che lo invaderà repentinamente la povertà.
23 Whoever corrects a man, afterward he shall find favor with him, more so than he who deceives him with a flattering tongue.	23 Chi corregge un uomo sarà alla fine più accetto a lui, che quegli, il quale con lingua lusinghiera lo inganna.
24 Whoever takes away anything from his father or mother, and who says, “This is not a sin,” is the associate of a murderer.	24 Chi ruba a suo padre, ed a sua madre, e dice ciò non esser peccato, è compagno dell'omicida.
25 Whoever boasts and enlarges himself stirs up conflicts. Yet truly, whoever trusts in the Lord will be healed.	25 Colui, che si millanta, e si gonfia, fa nascere delle contese; ma chi spera nel Signore otterrà salute.
26 Whoever trusts in his own heart is a fool. But whoever treads wisely, the same shall be saved.	26 Chi si confida ne' suoi consigli è uno stolto; ma chi cammina con saggezza, sarà salvo:
27 Whoever gives to the poor shall not be in need. Whoever despises his petition will suffer scarcity.	27 Chi dona al povero non sarà mai in bisogno; ma chi disprezza colui che domanda, soffrirà penuria.
28 When the impious rise up, men will hide themselves. When they perish, the just shall be multiplied.	28 Quando gli empj alzeranno il capo, gli uomini anderanno a nascondersi: quando quelli saranno spenti, moltiplicheranno i giusti.
