Psalms 5

1 Unto the end. For her who pursues the inheritance. A Psalm of David.	1 For the leader; with wind instruments. A psalm of David.
2 O Lord, listen closely to my words. Understand my outcry.	2 Hear my words, O LORD; listen to my sighing.
3 Attend to the voice of my prayer, my King and my God.	3 Hear my cry for help, my king, my God! To you I pray, O LORD;
4 For to you, I will pray. In the morning, Lord, you will hear my voice.	4 at dawn you will hear my cry; at dawn I will plead before you and wait.
5 In the morning, I will stand before you, and I will see. For you are not a God who wills iniquity.	5 You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you;
6 And the malicious will not dwell close to you, nor will the unjust endure before your eyes.	6 the arrogant cannot stand before you. You hate all who do evil;
7 You hate all who work iniquity. You will destroy all who speak a lie. The bloody and deceitful man, the Lord will abominate.	7 you destroy all who speak falsely. Murderers and deceivers the LORD abhors.
8 But I am in the multitude of your mercy. I will enter your house. I will show adoration toward your holy temple, in your fear.	8 But I can enter your house because of your great love. I can worship in your holy temple because of my reverence for you, LORD.
9 Lord, lead me in your justice. Because of my enemies, direct my way in your sight.	9 Guide me in your justice because of my foes; make straight your way before me.
10 For there is no truth in their mouth: their heart is vain.	10 For there is no sincerity in their mouths; their hearts are corrupt. Their throats are open graves; on their tongues are subtle lies.
11 Their throat is an open sepulcher. They have acted deceitfully with their tongues. Judge them, O God. Let them fall by their own intentions: according to the multitude of their impiety, expel them. For they have provoked you, O Lord.	11 Declare them guilty, God; make them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many sins; they have rebelled against you.
12 But let all those who hope in you rejoice. They will exult in eternity, and you will dwell in them. And all those who love your name will glory in you.	12 Then all who take refuge in you will be glad and forever shout for joy. Protect them that you may be the joy of those who love your name.
13 For you will bless the just. You have crowned us, O Lord, as if with a shield of your good will.	13 For you, LORD, bless the just; you surround them with favor like a shield.
