For the First Sabbath. A Psalm of David. The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord: the whole world and all that dwells in it.1 Psaume de David. Yahvé est mon berger, rien ne me manque.
For he has founded it upon the seas, and he has prepared it upon the rivers.2 Sur des prés d'herbe fraîche il me parque. Vers les eaux du repos il me mène,
Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? And who will stand in his holy place?3 il y refait mon âme; il me guide aux sentiers de justice à cause de son nom.
The innocent of hands and the clean of heart, who has not received his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.4 Passerais-je un ravin de ténèbre, je ne crains aucun mal car tu es près de moi; ton bâton, ta houlettesont là qui me consolent.
He will receive a blessing from the Lord, and mercy from God, his Saviour.5 Devant moi tu apprêtes une table face à mes adversaires; d'une onction tu me parfumes la tête, macoupe déborde.
This is the generation that seeks him, that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.6 Oui, grâce et bonheur me pressent tous les jours de ma vie; ma demeure est la maison de Yahvé enla longueur des jours.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle.
Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.
