1 Therefore call, if there are any who will respond to you, and turn to one or another of the saints.	1 Appelle maintenant! Est-ce qu'on te répondra? Auquel des saints t'adresseras-tu?
2 Truly, anger condemns the foolish to death, and envy kills the petty.	2 En vérité, le dépit tue l'insensé et l'emportement fait mourir le sot.
3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I have cursed his excellence without hesitation.	3 J'ai vu ceci, moi: l'un d'eux prenait racine, quand sa demeure fut soudain maudite.
4 His sons will be far from prosperity and will be crushed at the gate, and there will be none who can rescue them.	4 Ses fils sont privés de tout appui, accablés à la Porte sans défenseur;
5 Their harvest, the starving will eat. The armed man will rob him, and the thirsty will drink his resources.	5 leur moisson nourrit des affamés, car Dieu la leur ôte de la bouche, et des hommes altérés convoitentleurs biens.
6 Nothing on earth occurs without a reason, and sorrow does not rise from the earth.	6 Non, la misère ne sourd pas de terre, la peine ne germe pas du sol.
7 Man is born to labor, and the bird to fly.	7 C'est l'homme qui engendre la peine comme le vol des aigles recherche l'altitude.
8 Therefore, because of this, I will beg the Lord, and place my eloquence before God.	8 Pour moi, j'aurais recours à Dieu, à lui j'exposerais ma cause.
9 He does great and unfathomable and miraculous things without number.	9 Il est l'auteur d'oeuvres grandioses et insondables, de merveilles qu'on ne peut compter.
10 He gives rain over the face of the earth and irrigates all things with the waters.	10 Il répand la pluie sur la terre, envoie les eaux sur les campagnes.
11 He places the humble on high and encourages the grieving towards health.	11 S'il veut relever les humiliés, pousser les affligés au comble du bonheur,
12 He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.	12 il déjoue les desseins des astucieux, incapables de mener à bien leurs intrigues.
13 He catches the wise in their cleverness and dissipates the counsel of the perverse.	13 Il prend les sages au piège de leurs astuces, rend stupides les conseillers retors.
14 They will encounter darkness in the daytime, and they will grope at midday just as in the night.	14 En plein jour ils se heurtent aux ténèbres, ils tâtonnent à midi comme dans la nuit.
15 Thereafter, he will act to save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.	15 Il arrache de leur gueule l'homme ruiné et le pauvre des mains du puissant.
16 And there will be hope for those in need, for iniquity will diminish its speech.	16 Alors le faible renaît à l'espoir et l'injustice doit fermer la bouche.
17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.	17 Oui, heureux l'homme que Dieu corrige! Aussi, ne méprise pas la leçon de Shaddaï.
18 For he wounds and he cures; he strikes and his hands will heal.	18 Lui, qui blesse, puis panse la plaie, qui meurtrit, puis guérit de sa main,
19 He will deliver you into six tribulations, and in the seventh, evil will not touch you.	19 six fois de l'angoisse il te délivrera, et une septième le mal t'épargnera.
20 During famine, he will rescue you from death, and during war, from the hand of the sword.	20 Dans une famine, il te sauvera de la mort; à la guerre, des atteintes de l'épée.
21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you will not fear calamity when it arrives.	21 Tu seras à l'abri du fouet de la langue, sans crainte à l'approche du pillard.
22 In desolation and in famine, you will laugh, and you will not dread the beasts of the earth.	22 Tu riras de la sécheresse et du gel et tu ne craindras pas les bêtes de la terre.
23 For you are in harmony with the stones of the land, and the beasts of the earth will make peace with you.	23 Tu auras un pacte avec les pierres des champs, les bêtes sauvages seront en paix avec toi.
24 And you will know that your home has peace, and, concerning your appearance, you will not sin.	24 Tu trouveras ta tente prospère, ton bercail au complet quand tu le visiteras.
25 Likewise, you will know that your offspring will be manifold and your progeny will be like the grass of the earth.	25 Tu verras ta postérité s'accroître, tes rejetons pousser comme l'herbe des champs.
26 You will enter the grave with abundance, just as a crop of wheat is gathered in its time.	26 Tu entreras dans la tombe bien mûr, comme on entasse la meule en son temps.
27 Behold, this is just as we have found it, which you have heard; walk it through your mind.	27 Tout cela, nous l'avons observé: c'est la vérité! A toi d'écouter et d'en faire ton profit.
