Job 37

1 At this, my heart became frightened, and it has been moved from its place.	1 Mon coeur lui-même en tremble et bondit hors de sa place.
2 Pay close attention to the alarm of his voice and to the sound that proceeds from his mouth.	2 Ecoutez, écoutez le fracas de sa voix, le grondement qui sort de sa bouche!
3 He beholds everything under the heavens, and his light reaches beyond the ends of the earth.	3 Son éclair est lâché sous l'étendue des cieux, il atteint les extrémités de la terre.
4 After this, a noise will sound; he will thunder with the voice of his greatness, and it will not be tracked down, yet his voice will be obeyed.	4 Derrière lui mugit une voix, car Dieu tonne de sa voix superbe. Et il ne retient pas ses foudres tant quesa voix retentit.
5 God will thunder with his voice miraculously, for he performs great and unsearchable things.	5 Oui, Dieu nous fait voir des merveilles, il accomplit des oeuvres grandioses qui nous dépassent.
6 He commands the snow to descend on earth, and the winter rains, and the shower of his strength.	6 Quand il dit à la neige: "Tombe sur la terre!" aux averses: "Pleuvez dru!"
7 He signs the hand of all men, so that each one may know his works.	7 alors il suspend l'activité des hommes, pour que chacun reconnaisse là son oeuvre.
8 The beast will enter his hiding-place, and he will remain in his cave.	8 Les animaux regagnent leurs repaires et s'abritent dans leurs tanières.
9 From the interior, a storm will come forth, and a cold winter from the north.	9 De la Chambre australe sort l'ouragan et les vents du nord amènent le froid.
10 As God breathes out, frost forms, and the waters are poured forth very widely again.	10 Au souffle de Dieu se forme la glace et la surface des eaux se durcit.
11 Crops desire clouds, and the clouds scatter their light.	11 Il charge d'humidité les nuages et les nuées d'orage diffusent son éclair.
12 It shines all around, wherever the will of him that governs them will lead, to anywhere he will command, over the whole face of the earth,	12 Et lui les fait circuler et préside à leur alternance. Ils exécutent en tout ses ordres, sur la face de sonmonde terrestre.
13 whether in one tribe, or in his own region, or in whatever place of his mercy that he will order them to be found.	13 Soit pour châtier les peuples de la terre, soit pour une oeuvre de bonté, il les envoie.
14 Listen to these things, Job. Stand up and consider the wonders of God.	14 Ecoute ceci, Job, sans broncher, et réfléchis aux merveilles de Dieu.
15 Do you know when God ordered the rains, so as to show the light of his clouds?	15 Sais-tu comment Dieu leur commande, et comment sa nuée fait luire l'éclair?
16 Do you know the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect sciences?	16 Sais-tu comment il suspend les nuages en équilibre, prodige d'une science consommée?
17 Are not your garments hot, when the south wind blows across the land?	17 Toi, quand tes vêtements sont brûlants et que la terre se tient immobile sous le vent du sud,
18 Perhaps you have made the heavens with him, which are very solid, as if they had been cast from brass.	18 peux-tu étendre comme lui la nue, durcie comme un miroir de métal fondu?
19 Reveal to us what we should say to him, for, of course, we are wrapped in darkness.	19 Apprends-moi ce qu'il faut lui dire: mieux vaut ne plus discuter à cause de nos ténèbres.
20 Who will explain to him the things that I am saying? Even while a man is still speaking, he will be devoured.	20 Mes paroles comptent-elles pour lui, est-il informé des ordres d'un homme?
21 Although they do not see the light, the air will be thickened suddenly into clouds, and the wind, passing by, will drive them away.	21 Un temps la lumière devient invisible, lorsque les nuages l'obscurcissent; puis le vent passe et lesbalaie,
22 Riches arrive from the north, and fearful praise reaches out to God.	22 et du nord arrive la clarté. Dieu s'entoure d'une splendeur redoutable;
23 We are not worthy to be able to find him. Great in strength, great in judgment, great in justice: he is indescribable.	23 lui, Shaddaï, nous ne pouvons l'atteindre. Suprême par la force et l'équité, maître en justice sansopprimer,
24 Therefore, men will fear him, and all those who seem to themselves to be wise, will not dare to contemplate him.	24 il s'impose à la crainte des hommes; à lui la vénération de tous les esprits sensés!
