Job 20

1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered by saying:	1 Rispose Sofar Naamatite, e disse:
2 In response, various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind moves quickly through different ideas.	2 Adunque li miei pensieri varii succedono a loro, e la mente nelle cose diverse è tolta.
3 The teaching you use to admonish me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding will respond for me.	3 La dottrina, colla quale mi riprendi, udirò; e lo spirito della mia intelligenza mi risponderà.
4 This, I know, is from the beginning, from the time that man was set over the earth:	4 Questo so, dal principio che posto è l' uomo sopra la terra,
5 that the praise of the impious shall be short, and the joy of the hypocrite lasts only a moment.	5 che la lode delli malvagi è breve, e l' allegrezza delli ipocriti è assomigliata a uno punto.
6 If his pride ascends even towards the heavens, and his head touches the clouds,	6 (E questo so dal principio della mia intelligenza :) se salirà insino al cielo la [sua] superbia, e lo capo suo toccherà li nuvoli,
7 in the end, he will be destroyed like a trash heap, and those who had seen him will say: “Where is he?”	7 sarà perduto nella fine, sì come immondizia; e coloro che l' aveano veduto, diranno: dov'è?
8 Like a dream that flies away, he will not be found; he will pass away like a nightmare.	8 E, sì come sogno volante, non sarà trovato; e passerà sì come visione di notte.
9 The eyes that had seen him, will not see him; no longer will his own place admire him.	9 E l'occhio, che l' avea veduto, non lo vedrà; e non più oltre (non lo) ragguarderà lui lo suo luogo.
10 His sons will be worn away by poverty, and his own hands will deliver his grief to him.	10 Li suoi figliuoli saranno asseccati colla povertà, e le sue mani li renderanno lo dolore suo.
11 His bones will be filled with the vices of his youth, and they will sleep with him in the dust.	11 L'ossa sue saranno ripiene de' vizii della sua giovenza, e con lui [nel] la polvere dormiranno.
12 For, when evil will be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue.	12 E conciosia cosa che dolce sarà stato lo male nella bocca [sua], nasconderà quello sotto la sua lingua.
13 He will permit it, and not abandon it, and he will conceal it in his throat.	13 Perdonerà a colui, e non abbandonerà lui, e asconderallo nella gola sua.
14 His bread in his belly will be turned into the venom of snakes within him.	14 Lo pane nel ventre suo tornerà in fiele delli aspidi dentro.
15 The riches that he devours, he will vomit up, and from his stomach God will draw them out.	15 Le ricchezze, le quali devoroe, rimanderae fuori; del ventre suo ne le caverà Iddio.
16 He will suck the head of snakes, and the tongue of the viper will kill him.	16 Lo capo delli aspidi suggerae, e ucciderae lui la lingua della vipera.
17 (May he never see the streams of the river, the torrents of honey and butter.)	17 Non vedrà li rivoli del fiume, menante miele e butirro.
18 He will be repaid for all he has done, yet he will not be consumed; according to the multitude of his schemes, so also will he suffer.	18 E piagnerae ogni cosa che fece; impertanto non si consumerae, e così sofferrà secondo la moltitudine delle sue cose ritrovate.
19 For, having broken in, he stripped the poor. He has quickly stolen away a house he did not build.	19 Perciò che costrignente spoglioe la casa del povero; rapilla e non la edificoe.
20 And yet his stomach will not be satisfied, and when he has the things he desires, he will not be able to possess them.	20 E non è saziato lo suo ventre; e quando avrà quello ch' avrà desiderato, nol potrae possedere.
21 Nothing remained of his portion, and, because of this, nothing will continue of his kind.	21 Non rimanerae del suo cibo; e perciò neuna cosa rimarrà de' suoi beni.
22 When he will be satisfied, he will be constrained; he will seethe, and all anguish will fall upon him.	22 Quando sarà saziato, s'astrignerà e riscalderassi; ogni dolore rimarrà in lui e rovinerae.
23 May his stomach be filled, so that God may send forth the fury of his wrath to him and may rain down his battle upon him.	23 E Iddio il volesse, che sia empiuto lo ventre suo, acciò che mandi in lui l'ira del suo furore, e piova sopra lui la sua battaglia.
24 He will flee from weapons of iron, and he will fall in an arc of brass,	24 L'arme del ferro fuggirà, e caderae nell'arco del metallo.
25 which had been drawn and had issued forth from its sheath, glittering in its bitterness: the horrible ones will go forth and approach over him.	25 Menato e tratto della sua guaina, e mandando lampi nella sua amaritudine; andranno e verranno sopra lui le orribili cose.
26 All darkness has been hidden in his secrecy. A fire that has not been set will devour him; he will be thrown down and forsaken in his tabernacle.	26 Tutte le tenebre sono nascose negli occhii suoi, e devorerae lui il fuoco il quale non si spegnerae; sarae tormentato, abbandonato nel suo tabernacolo.
27 The heavens will reveal his sinfulness, and the earth will rise up against him.	27 Riveleranno i cieli la sua iniquitade, e la terra si rizzerae contra lui.
28 The offspring of his house will be exposed; he will be pulled down in the day of God’s wrath.	28 Aperto sarà lo germoglio della sua casa, e sarà detratto nel dì del furore di Dio.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his words from the Lord.	29 Questa è la parte dell' uomo malvagio da Dio, e la eredità delle sue parole (veramente verranno).
