1 Therefore, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which as we have said before is called Adar, when all the Jews were prepared to be executed and their enemies were greedy for their blood, the situation turned around, and the Jews began to have the upper hand and to vindicate themselves of their adversaries.	1 La regina Ester, udendo il pericolo in che ella venia, ricorse a Dio incontanente.
2 And they gathered together throughout each city, and town, and place, so as to extend their hands against their enemies and their persecutors. And no one dared to resist them, because their great power had pierced all the peoples.	2 E pose giuso le vestimenta regali, e piglioe le vestimenta (di cilicio) aspre e atte al pianto; e per varii unguenti, che si soleva mettere, piglioe e sparsesi in capo cenere; e lo corpo suo umiliò in molti digiuni, e in tutti i luoghi, ov' ella solea avere allegrezza, (faceva grande pianto e) laceravasi i capelli.
3 For even the judges of the provinces, and the rulers, and the procurators, and everyone of dignity, who presided over every place and work, extolled the Jews for fear of Mordecai.	3 E orazione facea a Dio d' Israel in questo modo: Signore Iddio, il quale se' (nostro Iddio e) nostro re, solo, aiutami; chè io sono sola, che fuori di te niuno altro adiutorio hoe.
4 For they knew him to be the leader of the palace and to have much power. Likewise, the fame of his name increased daily and flew everywhere through word of mouth.	4 E veggio così grande rumore venirmi adosso.
5 And so the Jews struck their enemies like a great plague and killed them, repaying according to what they had prepared to do to them,	5 Io udii (più volte) dal mio padre, che tu liberasti il popolo d' Israel delle mani d'ogni gente, e gli antichi nostri dietro da te maggiori cose ricevettero, perchè possedessero la eredità tua in sempiterno; secondo che tu promettesti loro, sempre lo facesti.
6 so much so that even in Susa they executed five hundred men, besides the ten sons of Haman the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews, and their names are these:	6 Noi abbiamo peccato nel tuo cospetto, e perciò ci hai posti nelle mani de' nostri nemici.
7 Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha	7 E noi abbiamo adorato i loro iddii. Signore Iddio, tu sei giusto.
8 and Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,	8 Ragguarda che non basta a loro, e sempre ci castigano, e vogliono mutare la tua potenza nelli idoli sordi.
9 and Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vaizatha.	9 E vogliono fare venire meno coloro che t' adorano, e distruggere la tua ereditade; e vogliono chiuder la bocca a quelli che ti lodano, e vogliono guastare lo tempio e l'altare,
10 When they had slain them, they were unwilling to touch the spoils of their belongings.	10 acciò che le genti possano adorare gl' idoli,. e predicare la potenza loro sempre mai.
11 And immediately the number of those who had been killed in Susa was reported to the king.	11 Signore, non mettere la verga tua nelle mani loro, acciò che (non possiamo fare la loro mala volontà, e acciò che) non se ne ridino nella nostra ruina; ma converti il consiglio loro sopra loro, e colui che questo incominciò, fallo venire meno.
12 He said to the queen, “In the city of Susa, the Jews have executed five hundred men, and also the ten sons of Haman. How many executions do you think that they have carried out in all the provinces? What more do you ask, and what do you wish, so that I may order it to be done?”	12 E priegoti, Signore, che di noi tu abbi memoria; e nel tempo della tribolazione dimòstrati a noi (e non ci abbandonare); dàmmi baldanza e ardire, Signore mio d'ogni cosa.
13 And she answered, “If it pleases the king, may power be granted to the Jews, so as to do tomorrow in Susa just as they have done today, and that the ten sons of Haman may be hung up the gallows.”	13 E dàmmi nella mia lingua parole perfette e che piacciano a questo re, il quale è fatto come uno leone; e lo suo cuore trasmutalo contro al nostro nemico; e fallo venire meno con tutti coloro che in questo lui sèguitano.
14 And the king instructed that it should be so done. And immediately the edict was hung up in Susa, and the ten sons of Haman were hung up.	14 E liberaci nella tua potenza, e mi aiuta; però che non hoe fede se non in te, lo qual sai ogni cosa.
15 On the fourteenth day of the month Adar, the Jews gathered themselves together, and they executed in Susa three hundred men, but they did not seize their belongings from them.	15 E sai ch' io ho avuto in odio la gloria degli iniqui, e sempre mi spiacque di stare con loro che non sono circoncisi, e con ogni altra gente aliena.
16 Moreover, throughout all the provinces which were subject to the king’s dominion, the Jews made a stand for their lives, and they executed their enemies and their persecutors, so much so that the number of those who were killed amounted to seventy-five thousand, and yet no one touched any of their belongings.	16 Tu sai come sempre io hoe avuta in abominazione la superbia e la gloria nella quale io sono posta, e che giammai in buono cuore in questo istato io non fui.
17 Now the thirteenth day of the month Adar was the first day with all of the executions, and on the fourteenth day they ceased the killing. This day they established to be sacred, so that in all times hereafter they would be free for feasting, joyfulness, and celebration.	17 E alla mensa d'Aman (nè a' suoi conviti) non fui volontieri, nè anco mi piacquero mai i conviti del re, e non ho bevuto lo vino de' loro sacrificii.
18 But, as for those who were carrying out the killings in the city of Susa, they turned to killing on the thirteenth and fourteenth day of the same month. But on the fifteenth day they ceased to attack. And for that reason they established that day as sacred, with feasting and with gladness.	18 E da poi ch' io fui portata in questo paese, non fui giammai contenta, e giammai non mi rallegrai, se non in te, Signore mio, Iddio di Abraam.
19 and all things which are contained in the history of this book, which is called Esther.	19 O Iddio fortissimo, esaudisci (Signore) coloro i quali non hanno speranza se non in te, e liberaci delle mani degli uomini malvagi, e campami di questa paura nella quale io sto.
