1 Now these are the sons of the province, who ascended from the captivity, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had transferred to Babylon, and who were returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, each one to his own city.1 These were the people of the province who returned from the captivity of the Exile, those whomNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each tohis own town.
2 They arrived with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:2 They were the ones who arrived with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Nahamani,Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum and Baanah. The number of the men of the people of the country ofIsrael:

58 all the temple servants and the sons of the servants of Solomon, three hundred ninety-two.58 The total of the temple slaves and the sons of Solomon's slaves: three hundred and ninety-two.
59 And these were the ones who ascended from Telmelah, Telharsha, Cherub, and Addan, and Immer. And they were not able to indicate the house of their fathers and their offspring, whether they were of Israel:59 The following, who came from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Cherub, Addan and Immer, could not prove thattheir families and ancestry were of Israelite origin:
60 The sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty-two.60 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda: six hundred and fifty-two.
61 And from the sons of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai, the Gileadite, and who were called by their name.61 And among the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzil ai --who had married one of the daughters of Barzil ai the Gileadite, whose name he adopted.
62 These sought the writing of their genealogy, and they did not find it, and so they were cast out of the priesthood.62 These had looked for their entries in the official genealogies but were not to be found there, and werehence disqualified from the priesthood.
63 And the cupbearer said to them that they should not eat from the Holy of Holies, until there would arise a priest, learned and perfect.63 Consequently, His Excellency forbade them to eat any of the consecrated food until a priest appearedwho could consult urim and thummim.
64 The entire multitude joined together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,64 The whole assembly numbered forty-two thousand, three hundred and sixty people,
65 not including their men and women servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And among these were singing men and singing women, two hundred.65 not counting their male and female slaves to the number of seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. They also had two hundred male and female singers.
66 Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules were two hundred forty-five;66 Their horses numbered seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five,
67 their camels were four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys were six thousand seven hundred twenty.67 their camels four hundred and thirty-five and their donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 And some of the leaders among the fathers, when they entered into the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, freely offered some of these to the house of God, in order to construct it in its location.68 When they arrived at the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem, a certain number of heads of families madevoluntary offerings for the Temple of God, for its rebuilding on its site.
69 They gave to the expenses of the work in accord with their ability: sixty-one thousand gold coins, five thousand silver minas, and one hundred priestly vestments.69 In accordance with their means they gave sixty-one thousand gold drachmas, five thousand silverminas and one hundred priestly robes to the sacred treasury.
70 Therefore, the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singing men, and the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all of Israel lived in their cities.70 The priests, the Levites and some of the people settled in Jerusalem; the singers, the gatekeepers andthe temple slaves in their appropriate towns; and al the other Israelites in their own towns.
