1 Chronicles 23

1 Then David, being old and full of days, appointed his son Solomon as king over Israel.	1 Davide, essendo vecchio e sazio di giorni, costituì re su Israele Salomone, suo figlio.
2 And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests as well as the Levites.	2 Egli radunò tutti i capi d'Israele, i sacerdoti e i leviti.
3 And the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward. And there were found thirty-eight thousand men.	3 Si contarono i leviti dai trent'anni in su; il loro numero, contandoli uno a uno, fu di trentottomila uomini:
4 Of these, twenty-four thousand were chosen and distributed to the ministry of the house of the Lord. Then six thousand were overseers and judges.	4 di questi, ventiquattromila dirigevano il lavoro del tempio del Signore, seimila erano scribi e giudici,
5 Moreover, four thousand were porters. And the same number were the singers of psalms to the Lord, with the musical instruments which he had made for the music.	5 quattromila portieri e quattromila lodavano il Signore con gli strumenti che Davide aveva fatti per questo.
6 And David distributed them into courses according to the sons of Levi, specifically, Gershom, and Kohath, and Merari.	6 Davide divise in classi i figli di Levi: Gherson, Keat e Merari.
7 The sons of Gershom: Ladan and Shimei.	7 Per i Ghersoniti: Ladan e Simei.
8 The sons of Ladan: the leader Jahiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.	8 Figli di Ladan furono: Iechièl, il capo, Zetam e Gioele: tre.
9 The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the leaders of the families of Ladan.	9 Figli di Simei furono: Selomìt, Cazièl e Aran: tre. Questi sono i capi dei casati di Ladan.
10 Then the sons of Shimei: Jahath, and Zizah, and Jeush, and Beriah. These were the sons of Shimei, four.	10 Figli di Simei: Iacat, Ziza, Ieus e Beria: questi sono i quattro figli di Simei.
11 Now Jahath was first, Zizah second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, and for this reason they were reckoned as one family and one house.	11 Iacat era il capo, Ziza il secondo. Ieus e Beria non ebbero molti figli, perciò non formarono che un solo casato.
12 The sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel, four.	12 Figli di Keat: Amram, Isear, Ebron, Uzzièl: quattro.
13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Now Aaron was separated so that he might minister in the Holy of Holies, he and his sons forever, and so that he might burn incense to the Lord, according to his rite, and so that he might bless his name in perpetuity.	13 Figli di Amram: Aronne e Mosè. Aronne fu scelto per consacrare le cose sacrosante, lui e i suoi figli, per sempre, per offrire incenso davanti al Signore, per servirlo e benedire in suo nome, per sempre.
14 The sons of Moses, the man of God, were also numbered in the tribe of Levi.	14 Quanto a Mosè, uomo di Dio, i suoi figli furono annoverati fra la tribù di Levi.
15 The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.	15 Figli di Mosè: Gherson ed Eliezer.
16 The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the first.	16 Figli di Gherson: Sebuel, il primo.
17 Now the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the first. And there were no other sons for Eliezer. But the sons of Rehabiah were multiplied exceedingly.	17 I figli di Eliezer furono Recabia, il primo. Eliezer non ebbe altri figli, mentre i figli di Recabia furono moltissimi.
18 The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the first.	18 Figli di Isear: Selomìt, il primo.
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.	19 Figli di Ebron: Ieria il primo, Amaria secondo, Iacaziel terzo, e Iekameam quarto.
20 The sons of Uzziel: Micah the first, Isshiah the second.	20 Figli di Uzzièl: Mica il primo, Icasia secondo.
21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.	21 Figli di Merari: Macli e Musi. Figli di Macli: Eleazaro e Kis.
22 Then Eleazar died, and had no sons, but only daughters. And so the sons of Kish, their brothers, married them.	22 Eleazaro morì senza figli, avendo soltanto figlie; le sposarono i figli di Kis, loro fratelli.
23 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.	23 Figli di Musi: Macli, Eder e Ieremot: tre.
24 These are the sons of Levi, in their kindred and families, leaders in turns, and the number of each of the heads who were doing the works of the ministry of the house of the Lord, from twenty years of age and upward.	24 Questi sono i figli di Levi secondo i loro casati, i capifamiglia, secondo un loro elenco, contando i nomi uno per uno. Dai vent'anni in su attendevano al lavoro del servizio del tempio del Signore.
25 For David said: “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and a habitation in Jerusalem even unto eternity.	25 Poiché Davide aveva detto: "Il Signore, Dio d'Israele, ha concesso la tranquillità al suo popolo ed egli ha preso dimora per sempre in Gerusalemme,
26 Neither shall it be the office of the Levites any more to carry the tabernacle with all its equipment for use in the ministry.”	26 anche i leviti non avranno più da trasportare la dimora con tutte le suppellettili per il suo servizio".
27 Also, according to the last precepts of David, the sons of Levi shall be counted by number from twenty years of age and upward.	27 Secondo le ultime disposizioni di Davide si fece il censimento dei figli di Levi dai vent'anni in su.
28 And they shall be under the hand of the sons of Aaron, in the care of the house of the Lord, in the vestibule, and in the chambers, and in the place of purification, and in the sanctuary, and in all the works of the ministry of the temple of the Lord.	28 Il loro posto infatti è di stare accanto ai figli di Aronne per il servizio del tempio del Signore in ciò che riguarda i cortili, le camere, la purificazione di ogni cosa sacra e l'attività del servizio del tempio di Dio;
29 But the priests shall be over the bread of the presence, and the sacrifice of fine wheat flour, and the unleavened cakes, and the frying pan, and the roasting, and over every weight and measure.	29 inoltre ciò che riguarda il pane dell'offerta, il fior di farina per l'oblazione, le focacce azzime, ciò che è cotto nella teglia o intriso e tutte le misure di capacità e lunghezza.
30 Yet truly, the Levites shall stand to confess and to sing to the Lord, in the morning, and similarly in the evening,	30 Ogni mattino dovevano presentarsi per celebrare e lodare il Signore, così pure alla sera,
31 as much in the oblation of the holocausts of the Lord, as in the Sabbaths and new moons and other solemnities, according to the number and ceremonies for each and every matter, perpetually before the Lord.	31 e ogni volta che si offrono olocausti al Signore, nei sabati, nei noviluni, nelle solennità, secondo il numero fissato loro dalla regola, sempre davanti al Signore.
32 And let them keep the observances of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the rituals of the sanctuary, and the observance of the sons of Aaron, their brothers, so that they may minister in the house of the Lord.	32 Essi inoltre assicuravano la sorveglianza della tenda del convegno e la sorveglianza del santo e l'assistenza dei figli di Aronne, loro fratelli, a servizio del tempio del Signore.
