1 Joseph was unable to restrain himself any longer, standing before so many. Therefore, he instructed that all should go outside, and that no stranger should be among them as they recognized one another.	1 Joseph ne put se retenir davantage devant tous ceux qui étaient présents autour de lui. Alors il donna cet ordre: “Faites sortir tout le monde d’ici!” Il n’y avait plus personne près de lui lorsque Joseph se fit reconnaître par ses frères.
2 And he lifted up his voice with weeping, which the Egyptians heard, along with the entire house of Pharaoh.	2 Il pleurait si fort que les Égyptiens l’entendirent, ainsi que toute la maison du Pharaon.
3 And he said to his brothers: “I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?” His brothers were unable to respond, being terrified by a very great fear.	3 Joseph dit alors à ses frères: “Je suis Joseph! Mon père est-il encore en vie?” Ses frères étaient tellement effrayés qu’ils étaient incapables de lui répondre.
4 And he said to them mildly, “Approach toward me.” And when they had approached close by, he said: “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.	4 Joseph dit alors à ses frères: “Approchez-vous de moi!” Et ils s’approchèrent. Il dit: “Je suis Joseph, votre frère, c’est moi que vous avez vendu aux Égyptiens.
5 Do not be afraid, and let it not seem to you to be a hardship that you sold me into these regions. For God sent me before you into Egypt for your salvation.	5 Maintenant, n’en soyez pas tristes, n’ayez pas de regrets de m’avoir vendu, car Dieu m’a envoyé ici en avant de vous pour vous sauver la vie.
6 For it is two years since the famine began to be upon the land, and five years more remain, in which there can be neither plowing, nor reaping.	6 “Depuis deux ans la famine règne dans le pays et il y aura encore cinq années sans labours ni moisson.
7 And God sent me ahead, so that you may be preserved upon the earth, and so that you would be able to have food in order to live.	7 Dieu m’a donc envoyé devant vous pour vous assurer de quoi vivre dans le pays et vous faire connaître une grande libération.
8 I was sent here, not by your counsel, but by the will of God. He has caused me to be like a father to Pharaoh, and to be the lord of his entire house, as well as governor throughout all the land of Egypt.	8 Ainsi, ce n’est pas vous qui m’avez envoyé ici, mais c’est Dieu lui-même. Il a fait de moi un père pour le Pharaon, un seigneur pour toute sa maison et un gouverneur pour tout le pays d’Égypte.
9 Hurry, and go up to my father, and say to him: ‘Your son Joseph commands this: God has caused me to be lord of the entire land of Egypt. Come down to me, do not delay,	9 “Dépêchez-vous donc de remonter vers mon père et vous lui direz: Voici ce qu’a dit ton fils Joseph: Dieu a fait de moi un seigneur pour toute l’Égypte. Descends vers moi, ne t’arrête pas en chemin.
10 and you will live in the land of Goshen. And you will be next to me, you and your sons and the sons of your sons, your sheep and your herds, and all that you possess.	10 Tu t’installeras dans le pays de Gossen où tu seras près de moi, toi, tes fils, les fils de tes fils, ton petit et ton gros bétail, en un mot: tout ce qui t’appartient.
11 And there I will pasture you, (for there are still five years of famine remaining) lest both you and your house perish, along with all that you possess.’	11 J’assurerai ta nourriture pour que vous ne manquiez de rien, ni toi, ni ta famille, ni tous ceux qui sont avec toi, car il y aura encore cinq années de famine.
12 Behold, your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin can see that it is my mouth speaking to you.	12 Vous voyez de vos propres yeux, et mon frère Benjamin le voit aussi, c’est bien moi qui vous parle.
13 You will report to my father about all my glory, and about all that you have seen in Egypt. Hurry, and bring him to me.”	13 Vous raconterez à mon père toute ma gloire en Égypte, tout ce que vous avez vu, et vous vous dépêcherez de ramener mon père ici.”
14 And then falling upon the neck of his brother Benjamin, he embraced him and wept. And likewise, Benjamin wept at the same time on his neck.	14 Il se jeta alors au cou de son frère Benjamin et il pleura; Benjamin pleurait aussi sur son cou.
15 And Joseph kissed all his brothers, and he cried over each one. After this, they were emboldened to speak to him.	15 Puis il embrassa tous ses frères et pleura dans leurs bras. Ensuite ses frères parlèrent avec lui.
16 And it was overheard, and the news spread by word throughout the king’s court. The brothers of Joseph had arrived, and Pharaoh was gladdened along with all his family.	16 La nouvelle arriva jusque dans la maison du Pharaon: “Les frères de Joseph sont arrivés!” Cela ne déplut pas au Pharaon et à ses serviteurs.
17 And he told Joseph that he should command his brothers, saying: “ ‘Burden your beasts, and go into the land of Canaan,	17 Le Pharaon donna alors ce conseil à Joseph: “Dis à tes frères: Voici ce que vous allez faire. Chargez vos bêtes et retournez au pays de Canaan.
18 and take from there your father and kindred, and come to me. And I will give you all the good things of Egypt, so that you may eat from the marrow of the land.’ ”	18 Prenez-y votre père et vos familles, puis revenez vers moi pour que je vous donne la meilleure part dans le pays d’Égypte et que vous profitiez des richesses du pays.
19 “And you may even instruct that they take wagons from the land of Egypt, in order to transport their little ones as well as their wives. And say: ‘Take your father, and come quickly, as soon as possible.	19 Quant à toi, donne-leur cet ordre: Procurez-vous en Égypte des chariots pour vos petits enfants et pour vos femmes. Prenez votre père et revenez ici!
20 You need not give up anything from your household, for all the riches of Egypt will be yours.’ ”	20 N’ayez pas de regrets pour tout ce que vous laisserez là-bas, car ce qu’il y a de meilleur en Égypte sera pour vous.”
21 And the sons of Israel did just as they were commanded. And Joseph gave them wagons, according to the command of Pharaoh, and provisions for the journey.	21 C’est ainsi que firent les fils d’Israël. Joseph leur fournit des chariots selon l’ordre du Pharaon et il leur donna des provisions pour la route.
22 Likewise, he ordered two robes for each of them to be brought. Yet truly, to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver along with five of the best robes.	22 Il leur donna à tous des vêtements de rechange, mais il donna à Benjamin 300 pièces d’argent et cinq vêtements de rechange.
23 And he sent just as much money and clothing to his father, adding also ten male donkeys, with which to transport all the riches of Egypt, and as many female donkeys, carrying wheat and bread for the journey.	23 Voici ce qu’il envoya à son père: dix ânes avec ce qu’il y avait de meilleur en Égypte et dix ânesses qui portaient du blé, du pain et de la nourriture pour le voyage de son père.
24 Thus he sent away his brothers, and as they set out he said, “Do not become angry on the way.”	24 Ensuite il renvoya ses frères en leur disant: “Ne vous faites pas de soucis en chemin.” Et ils partirent.
25 And they ascended out of Egypt, and they arrived in the land of Canaan, to their father Jacob.	25 Ils revinrent donc d’Égypte et arrivèrent au pays de Canaan près de leur père Jacob.
26 And they reported to him, saying: “Your son Joseph is alive, and he is ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. When Jacob heard this, he was stirred up, as if from a deep sleep, yet he did not believe them.	26 Ils lui annoncèrent aussitôt: “Joseph est encore en vie! Et c’est lui qui gouverne toute l’Égypte!” Mais il n’en fut pas ému, car il ne les croyait pas.
27 To the contrary, they explained the entire matter in order. And when he had seen the wagons, and all that he had sent, his spirit revived,	27 Ils lui dirent donc tout ce que Joseph leur avait dit. Il vit les chariots que Joseph avait envoyés pour le transporter, et c’est alors que leur père Jacob se ressaisit.
28 and he said: “It is enough for me, if my son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”	28 Israël leur dit: “Cela me suffit de savoir que mon fils Joseph est en vie. Je vais aller le revoir avant de mourir.”
