1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:	1 Тож пресвітерів з-поміж вас заклинаю, я — сам теж пресвітер і свідок мук Христових і співучасник слави, що має об’явитись:
2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.	2 Пасіте довірене вам Боже стадо, доглядаючи за ним не примусово, а добровільно, по-божому; не для лихого зиску, а доброхіть,
3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.	3 і не як пануючі над вибраними, але бувши зразком для стада.
4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.	4 І як з’явиться архипастир, отримаєте нев’янущий вінець слави.
5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.	5 Так само ви, молоді, коріться старшим. А всі ви вдягніться в покірливість одного супроти одного, Бог бо гордим противиться, а покірливим дає благодать.
6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;	6 Смиріться, отже, під могутньою Божою рукою, щоб він підняв вас угору своєчасно.
7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.	7 Усяку журбу вашу покладіть на нього, бо він піклується про вас.
8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.	8 Будьте тверезі і чувайте! Противник ваш, диявол, ходить навколо вас, як лев ревучий, шукаючи, кого б пожерти.
9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.	9 Противтеся йому, сильні вірою, відаючи, що таких самих страждань зазнають і брати ваші скрізь по світі.
10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.	10 А Бог усякої благодаті, що вас покликав до вічної своєї слави у Христі, він сам, коли постраждаєте трохи, вас удосконалить, утвердить, зміцнить, утривалить.
11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.	11 Йому слава й сила по віки вічні! Амінь.
12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!	12 Пишу вам це коротко через Сильвана, вірного, як гадаю, брата, закликаючи і свідчивши вам, що це правдива благодать Божа, та, в якій стоїте.
13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.	13 Вітає вас Церква, що у Вавилоні, вибрана з вами, і Марко, мій син.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.	14 Вітайте один одного цілунком любови. Мир вам усім, що у Христі!
