1 After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth,	1 E dopo queste cose partendosi Paulo di Atene, pervenne in Corinto.
2 where he met a Jew called Aquila whose family came from Pontus. He and his wife Priscil a hadrecently left Italy because an edict of Claudius had expel ed al the Jews from Rome. Paul went to visit them,	2 E trovando uno giudeo, che avea nome Aquila, della insula di Ponto, con la sua donna che avea nome Priscilla, li quali erano nuovamente venuti d'Italia, però che Claudio (imperatore) avea comandato che tutti li giudei uscisseno di Roma, andò a stare con loro;
3 and when he found they were tentmakers, of the same trade as himself, he lodged with them, and theyworked together.	3 perciò ch' erano d' un' arte medesima, cioè che facevano (le funi e le corde, e sapeano fare) tende e trabacche; e operava (e lavorava) con loro.
4 Every Sabbath he used to hold debates in the synagogues, trying to convert Jews as wel as Greeks.	4 ...
5 After Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted al his time to preaching, declaringto the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.	5 E quivi venendo (a lui, tornando) da Macedonia (li predetti) Sila e Timoteo (per li quali elli mandato aveva), predicavano insieme con Paulo, dicendo a' iudei che per certo Iesù era Cristo, (cioè il Messia promesso loro).
6 When they turned against him and started to insult him, he took his cloak and shook it out in front ofthem, saying, 'Your blood be on your own heads; from now on I wil go to the gentiles with a clear conscience.'	6 E contradicendo elli e biastemiando, squassando Paulo le vestimenta sue sopra loro, sì disse: lo sangue vostro (cioè il peccato vostro tornerà) sopra il capo vostro; io (son ormai scusato, e) mondo (e innocente) mi parto da voi, e vado a predicare alle genti pagane.
7 Then he left the synagogue and moved to the house next door that belonged to a worshipper of Godcal ed Justus.	7 E così, partendosi da loro, entrò in casa d'uno fedele, che aveva nome Tito, uomo giusto; la quale casa era congiunta a lato della sinagoga (de' iudei).
8 Crispus, president of the synagogue, and his whole household, al became believers in the Lord. ManyCorinthians when they heard this became believers and were baptised.	8 E il principe della sinagoga, che avea nome Crispo, e tutta la sua famiglia, e altri molti da Corinto, udendo credettero, e ricevettero il battesimo.
9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, 'Be fearless; speak out and do not keep silence:	9 E (dopo queste cose) il Signore apparve in visione a Paulo, e disseli: non temere, ma parla (arditamente), e non tacere;
10 I am with you. I have so many people that belong to me in this city that no one wil attempt to hurtyou.'	10 però ch' io sono teco; niuno sarà ardito. d' offenderti; ma sappi che tu mi guadagnerai molto popolo in questa città.
11 So Paul stayed there preaching the word of God among them for eighteen months.	11 Onde Paulo rimase quivi uno anno e sei mesi a predicare, e molti ne convertitte.
12 But while Gal io was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a concerted attack on Paul and brought himbefore the tribunal, saying,	12 E (dopo queste cose) tutti li giudei di quelle contrade, provocati contra Paulo, sì il presero a furore, e menarolo inanzi a Gallione proconsole (della provincia) di Acaia (della quale provincia era la detta terra di Corinto).
13 'We accuse this man of persuading people to worship God in a way that breaks the Law.'	13 E (accusaronlo e) dissero: questo rio predica contra la legge nostra, e introduce un altro Iddio (cioè Iesù), e induce la gente a crederli.
14 Before Paul could open his mouth, Gal io said to the Jews, 'Listen, you Jews. If this were amisdemeanour or a crime, it would be in order for me to listen to your plea;	14 E incominciando Paulo a rispondere e a scusarsi, disse (il proconsole) Gallione a' giudei (che l'accusavano): se voi avete nissuna cosa iniqua o alcuno grande male contra a costui, ditelo, e io ne farò giustizia.
15 but if it is only quibbles about words and names, and about your own Law, then you must deal with ityourselves -- I have no intention of making legal decisions about these things.'	15 Ma se voi (contendete e) questionate di vostre leggi, fra voi la partite, ch' io per me non voglie essere giudice in queste cose.
16 Then he began to hustle them out of the court,	16 E così gli mandò via.
17 and at once they all turned on Sosthenes, the synagogue president, and beat him in front of thetribunal. Gal io refused to take any notice at al .	17 E allora tutti, prendendo Sostene principe della sinagoga (il quale era molto principale contra a Paulo), sì lo percotevano (eziandio) dinanzi al proconsole; ma esso non se ne curava niente.
18 After staying on for some time, Paul took leave of the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied byPriscil a and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had his hair cut off, because of a vow he had made.	18 E poi dopo alquanti di Paulo, accomiatandosi da' cristiani, navigò in Siria, e con lui (li predetti) Aquila e Priscilla, li quali in Cencri s' avevano tonduti li capilli (per segno di rifiutare il mondo, e) per certo voto che avevano.
19 When they reached Ephesus, he left them, but first he went alone to the synagogue to debate with theJews.	19 E giunti che furono a Efeso, li lasciò quivi. Ed elli entrava per le sinagoghe de' giudei, disputando con loro (e predicandoli).
20 They asked him to stay longer, but he declined,	20 Ed elli pregandolo che vi stèsse alquanto tempo, non volse.
21 though when he took his leave he said, 'I wil come back another time, God wil ing.' Then he sailedfrom Ephesus.	21 Ma togliendo comiato da loro, promise di tornar un' altra volta se Iddio glielo permettesse; e partendosi da Efeso,
22 He landed at Caesarea and went up to greet the church. Then he came down to Antioch	22 pervenne in Cesarea, e visitò e salutò la Chiesa de' fedeli; e poi si partì, e andò in Antiochia.
23 where he spent a short time before continuing his journey through the Galatian country and thenthrough Phrygia, encouraging al the followers.	23 E poi che vi fu stato alquanto tempo, si partì, (e cercò) e visitò quasi tutte le contrade di Galazia e di Frigia, (predicando e) confermando li fedeli.
24 An Alexandrian Jew named Apol os now arrived in Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, with a soundknowledge of the scriptures, and yet,	24 E uno iudeo ch' era nato d' Alessandria, che avea nome Apollo, il quale era molto eloquente, si venne in Efeso. Questo essendo molto dotto delle Scritture,
25 though he had been given instruction in the Way of the Lord and preached with great spiritual fervourand was accurate in al the details he taught about Jesus, he had experienced only the baptism of John.	25 e ammaestrato della fede di Cristo, parlava con grande fervore di spirito, e insegnava diligentemente la fede di Iesù; ma non sapea (e non aveva) se non il battesimo di Giovanni (Battista).
26 He began to teach fearlessly in the synagogue and, when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, theyattached themselves to him and gave him more detailed instruction about the Way.	26 Ma con grande fidanza predicava contra ai iudei nelle loro sinagoghe. Il quale udendo li predetti Aquila e Priscilla, ricevetterlo e insegnorongli meglio la via (della fede) di Cristo (e dieronli il vero battesimo).
27 When Apol os thought of crossing over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote asking thedisciples to welcome him. When he arrived there he was able by God's grace to help the believers considerably	27 E volendo elli andare in Acaia, scrissero ai discepoli (in Acaia) da parte loro e degli altri fedeli, che il ricevessero (con onore sicuramente). Onde giungendo a loro, (essendo ben ricevuto) fu molto utile ai fedeli.
28 by the energetic way he refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating from the scriptures that Jesus wasthe Christ.	28 Però che essendo giudeo (e sapendo la legge), molto li convincea, mostrando loro pubblicamente per le (loro) Scritture, che Iesù era Cristo (cioè il Messia promesso).
