NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 He went on to speak to them in parables, 'A man planted a vineyard; he fenced it round, dug out atrough for the winepress and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad.	1 E cominciò a parlare loro per parabole. Un uomo piantò una vigna, la cinse di siepe, ci scavò un frantoio, vi fabbricò una torre, l'affidò ai coloni e partì.
2 When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to col ect from them his share of the produce ofthe vineyard.	2 Poi a suo tempo mandò dai coloni un servo per riscuotere del frutto della vigna.
3 But they seized the man, thrashed him and sent him away empty handed.	3 Ma quelli presolo, lo batterono e lo rimandarono a mani vuote.
4 Next he sent another servant to them; him they beat about the head and treated shameful y.	4 Allora mandò ioro un altro servo, e questo lo ferirono nel capo e lo svillaneggiarono.
5 And he sent another and him they kil ed; then a number of others, and they thrashed some and killedthe rest.	5 Di nuovo ne mandò un altro e lo ammazzarono; e poi molti altri, dei quali chi batterono, chi uccisero.
6 He had still someone left: his beloved son. He sent him to them last of al , thinking, "They wil respectmy son."	6 Non restandogli che l'unico figlio prediletto, da ultimo mandò anche lui da loro, dicendo: Avran riguardo al mio figliolo.
7 But those tenants said to each other, "This is the heir. Come on, let us kil him, and the inheritance wilbe ours."	7 Ma i coloni dissero tra sè: Questo è l'erede: venite, uccidiamolo, e l'eredità sarà nostra.
8 So they seized him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.	8 E presolo, lo uccisero, e lo gettarono fuori della vigna.
9 Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do? He wil come and make an end of the tenants and givethe vineyard to others.	9 Or che farà il padrone della vigna? Verrà e sterminerà quei coloni, e darà la vigna ad altri.
10 Have you not read this text of scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become thecornerstone;	10 E non avete letta questa scrittura: La pietra che gli edificatori scartarono quella è divenuta pietra angolare:
11 this is the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it ?'	11 dal Signore è stato fatto questo ed è mirabile agli occhi nostri?
12 And they would have liked to arrest him, because they realised that the parable was aimed at them,but they were afraid of the crowds. So they left him alone and went away.	12 E tentavano di prenderlo, chè intesero come per loro avesse detta quella parabola: ma ebbero paura del popolo, e lasciatolo se ne andarono.
13 Next they sent to him some Pharisees and some Herodians to catch him out in what he said.	13 E gli mandarono dei Farisei e degli Erodiani, per coglierlo in parola.
14 These came and said to him, 'Master, we know that you are an honest man, that you are not afraid ofanyone, because human rank means nothing to you, and that you teach the way of God in al honesty. Is itpermissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not?'	14 I quali, venuti, gli dicono: Maestro, sappiamo che sei veritiero e non ti curi di alcuno, perchè non guardi in faccia agli uomini, ma insegni la via di Dio con verità: E' lecito o no pagare il tributo a Cesare? Dobbiamo pagarlo o no?
15 Recognising their hypocrisy he said to them, 'Why are you putting me to the test? Hand me adenarius and let me see it.'	15 Ma egli, conosciutane la malizia, rispose loro: Perchè mi tentate? Portatemi un danaro, che lo veda.
16 They handed him one and he said to them, 'Whose portrait is this? Whose title?' They said to him,'Caesar's.'	16 E glielo presentarono. Ed egli chiese: Di chi è quest'imagine e l'iscrizione? Risposero: Di Cesare.
17 Jesus said to them, 'Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.' And theywere amazed at him.	17 Allora Gesù disse a loro: Date a Cesare quel che è di Cesare, e a Dio quel che è di Dio. E si maravigliarono di lui.
18 Then some Sadducees -- who deny that there is a resurrection -- came to him and they put thisquestion to him,	18 Poi vennero a lui dei Sadducei che negano la risurrezione, e così lo interrogarono:
19 'Master, Moses prescribed for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no child, the manmust marry the widow to raise up children for his brother.	19 Maestro, Mosè ci lasciò scritto che se il fratello di uno muore e lascia la moglie senza figli, il fratello ne sposi la vedova e ravvivi il seme dell'altro.
20 Now there were seven brothers; the first married a wife and then died leaving no children.	20 Or c'erano sette fratelli: e il primo s'ammogliò e morì senza figli.
21 The second married the widow, and he too died leaving no children; with the third it was the same,	21 La sua vedova la prese il secondo, che morì pure senza figli. Così il terzo.
22 and none of the seven left any children. Last of al the woman herself died.	22 E nella stessa guisa l'ebbero tutti e sette, senza lasciar prole. Ultima di tutti morì anche la donna.
23 Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife wil she be, since she had been married toal seven?'	23 Nella risurrezione, quando saran risuscitati, di chi sarà la donna? chè sette l'ebbero in moglie.
24 Jesus said to them, 'Surely the reason why you are wrong is that you understand neither thescriptures nor the power of God.	24 Gesù rispose loro: Non v'ingannate forse perchè non sapete la Scrittura e la potenza di Dio?
25 For when they rise from the dead, men and women do not marry; no, they are like the angels inheaven.	25 Quando dunque risusciteranno i morti, non si ammoglieranno nè si mariteranno, ma saranno come gli angeli del cielo.
26 Now about the dead rising again, have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage aboutthe bush, how God spoke to him and said: I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?	26 In quanto poi alla risurrezione dei morti non avete letto nel libro di Mosè, come dal roveto Dio gli parlò dicendo: Io sono il Dio di Abramo e il Dio d'Isacco e il Dio di Giacobbe.
27 He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken.'	27 Non è il Dio dei morti, ma dei vivi. Voi dunque sbagliate e molto.
28 One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a goodanswer and put a further question to him, 'Which is the first of al the commandments?'	28 Or uno degli Scribi che li aveva sentiti discutere, visto che aveva loro ben risposto, si accostò e gli domandò quale fosse il primo dei comandamenti.
29 Jesus replied, 'This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord,	29 E Gesù gli rispose: Il primo di tutti i comandamenti è: Ascol­ta Israele; il Signore Dio tuo è l'unico Dio.
30 and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with al your mind and withal your strength.	30 E amerai il Signo­re Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuo­re, con tutta l'anima tua, e con tutta la tua intelligenza e con tutta la tua forza. Questo è il pri­mo comandamento.
31 The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greaterthan these.'	31 Il secondo poi è simile a questo: Amerai il prossimo tuo come te stesso. Non c'è comandamento maggiore di questo.
32 The scribe said to him, 'Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there isno other.	32 E lo Scriba rispose: Hai detto benissimo, o Maestro, e con verità, che Dio è uno solo, e che non vi è altri fuori che lui,
33 To love him with al your heart, with al your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbouras yourself, this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice.'	33 che amarlo con tutto il cuore e con tutto l'intelletto, con tutta l'anima e con tutte le forze, e amare il prossimo come se stesso, vai più d'ogni olocausto o sacrifizio.
34 Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And afterthat no one dared to question him any more.	34 E Gesù vedendo come egli aveva risposto assennatamente, gli disse: Non sei lontano dal regno di Dio. E nessuno ardì più d'interrogarlo.
35 While teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, 'How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son ofDavid?	35 E Gesù mentre insegnava nel tempio prese a dire: Come fanno a dire gli Scribi che il Cristo è il Figlio di David,
36 David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand til I have made your enemies your footstool.	36 mentre lo stesso David dice in Spirito Santo: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: siedi alla mia destra sinché io non ponga i tuoi nemici sgabello ai tuoi piedi?
37 David himself calls him Lord; in what way then can he be his son?' And the great crowd listened tohim with delight.	37 Lo stesso David lo chiama Signore, come può dunque essere suo Figlio? E la gran folla lo ascoltava con piacere.
38 In his teaching he said, 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes, to be greetedrespectfully in the market squares,	38 Nell'insegnare diceva loro: Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali ambiscono passeggiare in lunghe vesti, essere riveriti nelle piazze,
39 to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets;	39 e avere i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe ed i primi posti nei conviti;
40 these are the men who devour the property of widows and for show offer long prayers. The moresevere wil be the sentence they receive.'	40 essi che divorano le case delle vedove col pretesto di lunghe orazioni; costoro avranno più rigorosa condanna.
41 He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, andmany of the rich put in a great deal.	41 Poi, sedutosi dinanzi al gazofilacio, osservava come il popolo metteva, danaro nella cassa: e molti ricchi ne gettavano assai.
42 A poor widow came and put in two smal coins, the equivalent of a penny.	42 Venuta poi una povera vedova ci mise due spiccioli che fanno un quadrante.
43 Then he cal ed his disciples and said to them, 'In truth I tell you, this poor widow has put more in thanal who have contributed to the treasury;	43 E chiamati i suoi discepoli, disse loro: In verità vi assicuro che questa povera vedova ha dato più di tutti quelli che han gettato nel gazofìlacio,
44 for they have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in everything shepossessed, all she had to live on.'	44 perchè tutti gli altri han gettato del loro superfluo, essa invece, nella sua povertà, ha dato quanto possedeva, tutto il suo sostentamento.
