Jonah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Now Yahweh ordained that a great fish should swal ow Jonah; and Jonah remained in the bel y of thefish for three days and three nights.	1 E lo Signore Iddio si apparecchiò uno grande pesce ( ch' è chiamato balena) acciò ch' egli inghiottisse Iona; e stette Iona tre dì e tre notti nel ventre del detto pesce.
2 From the bel y of the fish, Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God; he said:	2 E fece orazione al suo Signore Iddio, istando nel ventre del pesce.
3 Out of my distress I cried to Yahweh and he answered me, from the bel y of Sheol I cried out; you heardmy voice!	3 E disse io gridai al Signore nella mia tribulazione, ed esaudi me; dello ventre dello inferno clamai, ed esaudi me nella mia voce.
4 For you threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods closed round me. Al yourwaves and bil ows passed over me;	4 E gittastimi nel profondo, nel cuore del mare, e lo fiume circondòe me; tutti li tuoi gorghi e le tue onde passarono sopra me.
5 then I thought, 'I am banished from your sight; how shal I ever see your holy Temple again?'	5 E io dissi: io sono cacciato dal conspetto dei tuoi occhi; (e io dissi) ancora io vederoe lo tuo santo tempio.
6 The waters round me rose to my neck, the deep was closing round me, seaweed twining round myhead.	6 L'acque circondarono me infino all' anima mia; lo abisso affondò me dintorno, e coperse di pelago lo mio capo.
7 To the roots of the mountains, I sank into the underworld, and its bars closed round me for ever. But youraised my life from the Pit, Yahweh my God!	7 Io scesi all' estremitadi de' monti; e le terre e li chiavistelli mi chiusono in eterno; e tu, Signore, solleverai dalla corruzione la vita mia.
8 When my soul was growing ever weaker, Yahweh, I remembered you, and my prayer reached you inyour holy Temple.	8 E quando l' anima s'angosciava, io mi ricordai del Signore, acciò che la mia orazione vegna a te, (allo tuo santo nome e) allo tuo santo tempio.
9 Some abandon their faithful love by worshipping false gods,	9 Quelli che guardono (e fanno) le vanitadi indarno, lasceranno la loro misericordia.
10 but I shal sacrifice to you with songs of praise. The vow I have made I shall fulfil! Salvation comesfrom Yahweh!	10 E io in voce di lode offerirò a te; e tutte le cose ch' io votai, io renderò al Signore per salute.
11 Yahweh spoke to the fish, which then vomited Jonah onto the dry land.	11 E lo Signore parlò al pesce: (gettalo fuori), e lo pesce gittò (incontanente) Iona (fuori del mare) in su la terra.
