Jeremiah 50

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 The word that Yahweh spoke against Babylon, against the country of the Chaldaeans, through theprophet Jeremiah.	1 Parola pronunziata dal Signore contro Babilonia, contro la terra dei Caldei, per mezzo del profeta Geremia:
2 Announce it to the nations, proclaim it, hoist a signal and proclaim it, making no secret of it, say,'Babylon is captured, Bel disgraced, Marduk shattered. (Her idols are disgraced, her Obscenities shattered.)'	2 « Annunziatelo in mezzo ai popoli, pubblicatelo; alzate la bandiera, ditelo ad alta voce, senza nasconderlo: dite: — Babilonia è presa, Bel è confuso, Merodac è vinto; i suoi simulacri sono svergognati, i suoi idoli conquisi. —
3 For a nation is marching on her from the north, to turn her country into a desert: no one will live thereany more; human and animal have fled and gone.	3 Contro di lui muove dal settenttrione un popolo che ne desolerà la terra, essa non avrà più abitatori, nè uomini nè bestie: spauriti, son fuggiti.
4 In those days and at that time the people of Israel will return (they and the people of Judah); they wilcome weeping in search of Yahweh their God.	4 In quei giorni e in quel tempo — dice il Signore — i figli d'Israele ritorneranno, uniti ai figli di Giuda cammineranno, si affretteranno piangendo, e cercheranno il Signore loro Dio.
5 They will ask the way to Zion and turn their faces towards her, 'Come, let us bind ourselves to Yahwehby an everlasting covenant never to be forgotten!'	5 Domandato della strada di Sion, ad essa si volgeranno. Torneranno e si congiungeranno col Signore con eterna alleanza che non sarà mai dimenticata.
6 Lost sheep, such were my people; their shepherds led them astray, the mountains misled them; frommountain to hil they went, forgetful of their fold.	6 Il mio popolo è divenuto un gregge disperso: i suoi pastori l'han sedotto, l'han fatto vagolar sui monti, passò dal monte alla collina, dimenticando il proprio ovile.
7 Whoever came across them devoured them, their enemies said, 'We are not to blame, since they havesinned against Yahweh, the Home of Justice, against Yahweh, the Hope of their ancestors.'	7 Tutti quelli che li incontravano li divoravano, e i loro nemici dicevano: « Non facciamo alcun male, perchè essi han peccato contro il Signore, splendore di giustizia, contro il Signore, speranza dei loro padri ».
8 Escape from Babylon, leave the country of the Chaldaeans. Be like he-goats, leading the sheep!	8 Fuggite di mezzo a Babilonia, uscite dalla terra dei Caldei, siate come capri alla testa del gregge.
9 For look, I shall raise a league of mighty nations to attack Babylon, from the land of the north. They wiltake up position against her; by them she wil be taken. Their arrows, like an experienced soldier's, never returnin vain.	9 Perchè io ecco metto in movimento e farò venire contro Babilonia un'adunata di grandi nazioni dalla terra del Settentrione. Si prepareranno ad assalirla, e per quella via essa sarà presa: le loro frecce, come quelle di uomini forti nell'uccidere, non torneranno a vuoto.
10 Chaldaea wil be plundered, al her plunderers wil be satisfied, Yahweh declares.	10 E la Caldea sarà saccheggiata, tutti i suoi depredatori arricchiranno — dice il Signore.
11 Rejoice! Have your triumph, you plunderers of my heritage! Be playful like a heifer let out to grass!Neigh like stallions!	11 Perchè voi esultate e parlate altezzosamente, o devastatori della mia eredità, perchè vi siete sparsi a saltare come vitelli sull'erba, e muggite come tori,
12 But your mother is covered with shame, disgraced is the woman who bore you; she is the least ofnations now; a desert, a parched land, a wasteland.	12 la vostra madre è oltremodo svergognata, è assomigliata al fango colei che vi ha generati: ecco, sarà l'ultima tra le nazioni, deserta, impraticabile, senza acque,
13 Because of Yahweh's anger, no one wil live there any more, she wil become a total solitude. All whopass by Babylon wil be appal ed and whistle at the sight of al her wounds.	13 a causa dello sdegno del Signore non sarà più abitata, ma sarà ridotta tutta a un deserto. Chiunque passerà per Babilonia resterà maravigliato e fischierà alla vista di tante sue piaghe.
14 Take position against Babylon, surround her, al you who bend the bow. Shoot at her! Do not spareyour arrows, for she has sinned against Yahweh!	14 Preparatevi contro Babilonia da ogni parte, voi tutti, arceri, tirate contro di lei, non risparmiate le frecce, perchè ha peccato contro il Signore.
15 Raise the war cry against her from all sides. She surrenders! Her bastions fal ! Her wal s collapse!This is Yahweh's vengeance! Take revenge on her. Treat her as she has treated others.	15 Alzate le grida contro di lei da ogni parte, essa tende le mani; i suoi fondamenti son caduti, le sue mura son distrutte, perchè è la vendetta del Signore. Vendicatevi su di lei, fate a lei come essa ha fatto.
16 Deprive Babylon of the man who sows, of the man who wields the sickle at harvest. Away from thedevastating sword, let everyone return to his own people, let everyone flee to his own country!	16 Sterminate da Babilonia il seminatore, e chi tiene in mano la falce al tempo della messe. Davanti alla spada della colomba, ciascuno tornerà al suo popolo, ciascuno fuggirà al proprio paese.
17 Israel was a straying sheep pursued by lions. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and latterlyNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon crunched his bones.	17 Israele è un gregge disperso, i leoni l'han cacciato: il primo a divorarlo fu il re di Assur, e quest'ultimo l'ha disossato, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia ».
18 So Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shall punish the king of Babylon and his countryas I punished the king of Assyria.	18 Per questo così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: « Ecco che io visiterò il re di Babilonia e la sua terra, come visitai il re di Assur.
19 I wil bring Israel back to his pastures to browse on Carmel and in Bashan, on the highlands ofEphraim and in Gilead, and he wil be satisfied.	19 E farò tornare Israele alla sua dimora, ed egli andrà a pascolare sul Carmelo e in Basan, sulla montagna d'Efraim e in Galaad sazierà le sue brame.
20 In those days and at that time, Yahweh declares, you may look for Israel's guilt, it will not be there, forJudah's sins, you wil not find them, for I shal pardon the remnant that I leave.	20 In quei giorni, in quel tempo — dice il Signore — si cercherà l'iniquità d'Israele, e non esisterà più, il peccato di Giuda e non sarà trovato, perchè io userò misericordia con quelli che avrò lasciati.
21 March on the country of Merathaim, march on it and on the inhabitants of Pekod; slaughter and cursewith destruction every last one of them, Yahweh declares, carry out my orders to the letter!	21 Muovi contro la terra dei dominatori, castiga i suoi abitanti, disperdi, uccidi chi li segue — dice il Signore — ed eseguisci tutti gli ordini che t'ho dati.
22 The din of battle fil s the country, immense destruction.	22 Rumor di battaglia sulla terra, e grande strage:
23 How utterly shattered that hammer of the whole world! What a thing of horror Babylon has becomethroughout the nations!	23 come è stato rotto e stritolato il martello di tutta la terra? Come mai Babilonia è divenuta un deserto tra le nazioni?
24 I set a snare for you, Babylon; you were caught before you knew it. You have been found andoverpowered for having defied Yahweh.	24 Ti ho teso il laccio e ti ho presa, o Babilonia, senza che te ne accorgessi. Sei stata trovata e presa, perchè hai provocato il Signore.
25 Yahweh has opened his armoury and taken out the weapons of his fury. For Lord Yahweh Sabaothhas work to do in the country of the Chaldaeans.	25 Il Signore ha aperto i suoi arsenali e ne ha tratte le armi del suo sdegno, avendo il Signore Dio degli eserciti da operare nella terra dei Caldei.
26 Fal on her from every side, open her granaries, pile her in heaps, curse her with destruction, untilnothing is left of her.	26 Accorrete contro di lei dagli ultimi confini, fate largo, perchè passino coloro che devono conculcarla, togliete dalla strada le pietre, e fatene dei mucchi, e uccidetela, che nulla resti.
27 Slaughter al her bulls, down to the slaughterhouse with them! Disaster on them, their day has come,their time for being punished.	27 Sterminate tutti i suoi guerrieri, scendano al macello. Guai a loro, perchè è venuto il loro giorno, il tempo del loro castigo!
28 Listen! Fugitives and runaways from the country of Babylon arrive in Zion and proclaim the revenge ofYahweh our God, revenge for his Temple!	28 Voci di fuggiaschi, di scampati dalla terra di Babilonia, per annunziare in Sion la vendetta del suo tempio.
29 Call up the archers against Babylon! Al you who bend the bow, invest her on al sides, leave her noway of escape. Repay her as her deeds deserve; treat her as she has treated others, for she was arrogant toYahweh, to the Holy One of Israel.	29 Chiamate contro Babilonia moltissimi, tutti quelli che tendono l'arco: accampatevi contro di lei all'intorno, chè nessuno scappi, rendetele secondo le sue opere, tutto quello che ha fatto fatelo a lei, perchè essa s'è inalberata contro il Santo d'Israele.
30 And so in her squares her young men wil fall, and all her fighting men wil perish, that day, Yahwehdeclares.	30 Per questo la sua gioventù cadrà sulle sue piazze, e tutti i suoi guerrieri resteran senza fiato in quel giorno — dice il Signore. —
31 My quarrel is with you, 'Arrogance!' Lord Yahweh Sabaoth declares, your day has come, the time forme to punish you.	31 Eccomi a te, o superbo — dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti — perchè è venuto il tuo giorno, il tempo del tuo castigo.
32 'Arrogance' wil stumble, she will fal , no one wil lift her up: I shal set fire to her towns and it wildevour all around it.	32 Cadrà il superbo, precipiterà, nessuno potrà rialzarlo, e metterò nelle sue città il fuoco, che divorerà tutte le cose all'intorno ».
33 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: The people of Israel are oppressed (and the people of Judah too), al theircaptors hold them fast, they will not let them go.	33 Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: « I figli d'Israele sono oppressi, e con essi i figli di Giuda, tutti quelli che li presero li ritengono, non vogliono lasciarli andare.
34 But their redeemer is strong: Yahweh Sabaoth is his name. He wil take up their cause, to give ourcountry rest but make the inhabitants of Babylon tremble.	34 Ma il loro Redentore è forte, si chiama il Signore degli eserciti, difenderà in giudizio la loro causa, da mettere in spavento la terra e far tremare gli abitanti di Babilonia.
35 A sword against the Chaldaeans, Yahweh declares, against the inhabitants of Babylon, against herprinces and her sages!	35 La spada contro i Caldei — dice il Signore — e contro gli abitanti di Babilonia, e contro i suoi principi e contro i suoi sapienti.
36 A sword against her diviners: may they lose their wits! A sword against her warriors: may they panic!	36 La spada contro i suoi indovini, che saranno insensati, la spada contro i suoi eroi, che avran paura.
37 A sword against her horses, her chariots and the conglomeration of people inside her: may they belike women! A sword against her treasures: may they be plundered!	37 La spada contro i suoi cavalli e i suoi cocchi, e contro tutto il popolo che è dentro di lei, e saran come donne; la spada contro i suoi tesori, che saran saccheggiati.
38 Drought on her waters: may they dry up! For it is a country of idols, and they are mad about those bogeys of theirs!	38 La siccità sopra le sue acque, e seccheranno; perchè è la terra degli idoli, e si glorian dei mostri.
39 Hence wild cats and jackals wil live there, and ostriches make their home there. She will never againbe inhabited, for ever, but remain uninhabited age after age.	39 Per questo i dragoni abiteranno coi fauni mangiafichi, e vi abiteranno gli struzzi, essa non sarà più abitata in eterno, non sarà più rifabbricata per generazioni e generazioni,
40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and their neighbouring towns, Yahweh declares, noone will live there any more, no human being settle there again.	40 come il Signore distrusse Sodoma e Gomorra e le città vicine — dice il Signore — nessuno vi abiterà, e non vi dimorerà il figlio dell'uomo.
41 Look, a people is coming from the north, a mighty nation; from the far ends of the earth many kingsare stirring.	41 Ecco venire un popolo dal settentrione, una grande nazione e molti re che muovono dai confini della terra;
42 They are armed with bow and spear, they are cruel and pitiless; their noise is like the roaring of thesea; they ride horses, ready as one man to fight you, daughter of Babylon!	42 essi daran di piglio all'arco e allo scudo, son crudeli e senza misericordia, il loro rumore farà un rombo come il mare, saliranno sopra i cavalli come un sol uomo preparato a combattere contro di te, o figlia di Babilonia.
43 The king of Babylon has heard the news, his hands fal limp, anguish has seized him, pain like that ofa woman in labour.	43 Il re di Babilonia ne ha sentita la fama, e gli son cadute le braccia, l'han preso le angosce, i dolori come partoriente.
44 Look, like a lion he climbs the thickets of the Jordan to the perennial pasture! In a flash I shal makethem run away and there appoint someone I shal choose. For who is there like me? Who can hale me intocourt? Name me the shepherd who can stand up to me.	44 Ecco qual leone salirà dal superbo Giordano alla robusta bellezza, perchè io subito lo farò correre a lei. E chi sarà scelto ad esserne capo? E chi è simile a me? chi mi potrà sostenere? E qual pastore potrà resistere alla mìa faccia?
45 So now hear the plan that Yahweh has laid against Babylon, the schemes he has in mind against thecountry of the Chaldaeans: they wil certainly be dragged away like the smallest in the flock! Their pastures willcertainly be sacked before their eyes!	45 Or dunque state a sentire le risoluzioni che il Signore ha prese contro Babilonia, e i suoi disegni che ha fatti sopra la terra dei Caldei: « Giuro che i piccoli del gregge li getteran per terra e saran distrutte con esse le loro dimore ».
46 The earth quakes at the sound of Babylon's capture, and the shouting echoes through the nations.	46 All‘annunzio della schiavitù di Babilonia s'è scossa la terra, le grida si son sentite fra le nazioni ».
