Sirach 50

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 It was the High Priest Simon son of Onias who repaired the Temple during his lifetime and in his day fortified the sanctuary.	1 Simeone, figliuolo di Onia, grande sacerdote, che in sua vita levoe (e inalzoe) la casa, e nelli di suoi fortificoe il tempio.
2 He laid the foundations of double depth, the high buttresses of the Temple precincts.	2 E l'altezza del tempio fu fondata da lui, doppia edificazione, e li alti muri del tempio.
3 In his day the pool was excavated, a reservoir as huge as the sea.	3 Nelli suoi dì abbondarono li pozzi delle acque, e come mare s'empirono oltra modo.
4 Anxious to save the people from ruin, he fortified the city against siege.	4 Il quale curoe la gente sua, e liberolla da perdizione.
5 How splendid he was with the people thronging round him, when he emerged from the curtained shrine,	5 Il quale antivalse in amplificare la cittade, il quale acquistoe fama nella conversazione della gente; e si amplioe l'entrata della casa e dello atrio.
6 like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon at the ful ,	6 Sì come stella mattutina in mezzo della nuvola, e sì come luna piena nelli dì suoi luce.
7 like the sun shining on the Temple of the Most High, like the rainbow gleaming against bril iant clouds,	7 E sì come sole risplendente, così colui risplendette (e riluce) nel tempio di Dio.
8 like a rose in springtime, like a lily by a spring, like a branch of the incense tree in summer,	8 E sì come l'arco del cielo risplendendo nelli nuvoli della gloria, e sì come il fiore della rosa nelli dì della primavera, e sì come li gigli che sono nel transito dell' acqua, e sì come incenso rendente odore nelli di della state.
9 like fire and incense in the censer, like a massive golden vessel encrusted with every kind of preciousstone,	9 E sì come fuoco chiaro, e sì come incenso ardente nel fuoco.
10 like an olive tree loaded with fruit, like a cypress soaring to the clouds;	10 E sì come vasello d'oro sodo, ornato d'ogni pietra preziosa.
11 when he took his ceremonial robe and put on his magnificent ornaments, when he went up to the holyaltar and fil ed the sanctuary precincts with his grandeur;	11 E come uliva pollulante, e sì come cipresso levandosi in alto, in togliendo esso stola di gloria, e in vestirsi in compimento di virtù.
12 when he received the portions from the hands of the priests, himself standing by the altar hearth,crowned with the circle of his brothers, as a cedar of Lebanon is by its foliage, as though surrounded by thetrunks of palm trees.	12 Nella salita dell' altare santo, diede coprimento, gloria di santitade.
13 When all the sons of Aaron in their glory, with the offerings of the Lord in their hands, stood before thewhole assembly of Israel,	13 In tòrre le parti di mano del sacerdote, elli stando a lato all' altare, intorno a lui la corona dei fratelli fue sì come piantagione di cedro in monte Libano.
14 while he completed the rites at the altars, nobly presenting the offerings to the Almighty, Most High!	14 Così stettono intorno a lui come rami di palma, e tutti li figliuoli di Aaron nella gloria sua.
15 He would reach out his hand to the cup and pour a libation of wine, pouring it at the foot of the altar, afragrance pleasing to the Most High, King of All;	15 L'offerta del Signore nelle loro mani, dinanzi a ogni sinagoga d' Israel; e spandendo nello altare, in compimento del sacrificio, amplificare la oblazione del re sublime.
16 then the sons of Aaron would shout and blow their metal trumpets, making a mighty sound ring out asa reminder before the Most High;	16 Porse la mano sua nel sacrificio, e bevè del sangue dell' uva.
17 and immediately the people al together would fal on their faces to the ground, in adoration of theirLord, the Almighty, God Most High,	17 Gittoe nel fondamento dello altare odore divino allo eccelso principe.
18 and with the cantors chanting their hymns of praise. Sweet was the melody of al these voices,	18 Allora gridarono li figliuoli di Aaron, e sonarono le trombe, e in ricordanza feciono udire grande voce dinanzi da Dio.
19 as the people pleaded with the Lord Most High and prayed in the presence of the Merciful, until theservice of the Lord was completed and the ceremony at an end.	19 Allora il popolo tutto insieme si studiarono, e caddono bocconi in terra ad adorare Iddio suo, e a pregare l' Onnipotente Iddio eccelso.
20 Then he would come down and raise his hands over the whole assembly of the Israelites, to give themthe Lord's blessing from his lips, being privileged to pronounce his name;	20 E amplificarono li cantori nelle voci sue; ed è fatto suono pieno di suavitade nella grande casa.
21 and once again the people would bow low to receive the blessing of the Most High.	21 E pregò il popolo Iddio eccelso, insino a tanto che fue compiuto l'onore del Signore; e compierono l'onore nel dono suo.
22 And now bless the God of al things, the doer of great deeds everywhere, who has exalted our daysfrom the womb and has acted merciful y towards us.	22 Allora discendendo levoe le mani verso tutta la radunanza de' figliuoli d' Israel, a dare gloria a Dio delle lingue loro, e gloriarsi nel nome suo.
23 May he grant us cheerful hearts and bring peace in our time, in Israel for ages on ages.	23 E ricominciò l'orazione sua, volendo mostrare la virtù di Dio.
24 May his mercy be faithfully with us, may he redeem us in our own times!	24 E più adorò Iddio di tutti, il quale fece grandi cose in ogni terra, il quale crebbe li dì nostri dal ventre della madre nostra, e fece con noi secondo la sua misericordia.
25 There are two nations that my soul detests, the third is not a nation at al :	25 Diaci gioconditade del cuor nostro, e a fare pace nelli di nostri in Israel per sempre mai.
26 the inhabitants of Mount Seir, the Philistines, and the stupid people living at Shechem.	26 Israel, credi essere con noi la misericordia di Dio, acciò ch' elli [ci] liberi nelli dì suoi.
27 Instruction in wisdom and knowledge is what has been written in this book by Jesus son of SiraEleazar of Jerusalem, who has poured a rain of wisdom from his heart.	27 Due genti odia l' anima mia; la terza non è gente la quale io abbia odiata;
28 Blessed is he who devotes his time to these and grows wise by taking them to heart!	28 Coloro che seggono in monte Seir, i Filistei, il stolto popolo che abita in Sichem.
29 If he practises them he will be strong enough for anything, since the light of the Lord is his path.	29 Dottrina di sapienza e disciplina scrisse in questo libro Iesù, figliuolo di Sirac di Ierusalem, il quale rinnovoe la sapienza del suo cuore.
	30 Beato colui che conversa in questi beni; colui che li metterae nel cuore suo, sarà savio sempre.
	31 Se egli farae queste cose, varrae a tutte le cose; però che la luce di Dio sì è sua guida.
