NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 Whoever is stiff-necked under reproof wil be suddenly and irremediably broken.	1 A férfira, aki a dorgálót nyakaskodva megveti, hirtelen eljön a romlás, amelyből nincs számára felépülés.
2 When the upright are on the increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked are in power, the peoplegroan.	2 Örvend a nép, ha az igazak gyarapodnak, de sóhajt a nép, ha gonoszok jutnak uralomra.
3 The lover of Wisdom makes his father glad, but the patron of prostitutes fritters his wealth away.	3 A férfi, aki kedveli a bölcsességet, megörvendezteti atyját, aki azonban céda nőket tart, elherdálja a vagyont.
4 A king gives a country stability by justice, an extortioner brings it to ruin.	4 Az igazságos király talpraállítja az országot, a kapzsi férfiú azonban tönkreteszi.
5 Whoever flatters his companion spreads a net for his feet.	5 A férfi, aki hízelgő, tettetett beszéddel szól barátjához, hálót vet lába elé.
6 In the sin of the wicked lies a snare, but the upright exults and rejoices.	6 A gonosz ember beleakad bűnei tőrébe, az igaz pedig ujjong és örvendezik.
7 The upright understands the cause of the weak, the wicked has not the wit to understand it.	7 Az igaz gondol a szegények jogával, a gonosz pedig nem vesz róla tudomást.
8 Scoffers set a city in ferment, but the wise moderate anger.	8 Az arcátlan emberek fellázítják a várost, a bölcsek ellenben csitítják az indulatot.
9 Let someone wise argue with a fool, anger and good humour alike wil be wasted.	9 Ha bölcs ember balgával vitába száll, akár haragudjék, akár nevessen, nyugalmat nem talál.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek them out.	10 Vérszomjas emberek megvetik az ártatlant, az igazak pedig keresik a lelkét.
11 The fool blurts out every angry feeling, but the wise subdues and restrains them.	11 A balga rögtön kiadja egész lelkét, a bölcs pedig elhalasztja és későbbre tartogatja.
12 When a ruler listens to false reports, al his ministers wil be scoundrels.	12 Amely király örömest hallgat hazug beszédekre, annak szolgái egytől egyig gonosztevők.
13 Poor and oppressor are found together, Yahweh gives light to the eyes of both.	13 Van egymás mellett szegény is, elnyomó is, mindegyik az Úrtól kapja szeme világát.
14 The king who judges the weak with equity sees his throne set firm for ever.	14 Örökre szilárd a király trónja, aki a szegénynek igazságot szolgáltat.
15 The stick and the reprimand bestow wisdom, a young man left to himself brings shame on his mother.	15 Vessző és korholás bölcsességet adnak, az ifjú pedig, akit szabadjára hagynak, szégyent hoz anyjára.
16 When the wicked are on the increase, sin multiplies, but the upright wil witness their downfal .	16 Ha a gonoszok gyarapodnak, a bűn is erőre kap, az igazak azonban meglátják bukásukat.
17 Correct your child, and he wil give you peace of mind; he will delight your soul.	17 Fenyítsd fiadat, akkor nyugodalmat ad neked, és gyönyörűséget szerez lelkednek.
18 Where there is no vision the people get out of hand; happy are they who keep the law.	18 Látomás nélkül a nép féktelenné lesz, de boldog, ha megtartja a törvényt.
19 Not by words is a slave corrected: even if he understands, he will take no notice.	19 Szolgát nem lehet csak szép szóval kitanítani, mert érti ugyan, mit mondasz, de mégsem fogad szót.
20 You see someone too ready of speech? There is more to be hoped for from a fool!	20 Láttál-e embert, aki elsieti beszédét? A balgának több a reménye, mint neki!
21 If a slave is pampered from childhood, he wil prove ungrateful in the end.	21 Aki szolgáját gyermekkorától kényezteti, később majd makacsnak találja.
22 The hot-head provokes disputes, someone in a rage commits al sorts of sins.	22 Indulatos férfi viszályt támaszt, s a heveskedő bővelkedik bűnökben.
23 Pride brings humiliation, whoever humbles himself will win honour.	23 Az embert kevélysége megalázza, az alázatosnak pedig megbecsülés jut.
24 To hear the curse and disclose nothing is to share with the thief and to hate oneself.	24 Aki tolvajjal osztozik, ellensége önmagának, hallja az átkot, és még sem tesz jelentést!
25 To be afraid of human beings is a snare, whoever trusts in Yahweh is secure.	25 Az emberektől való félelem tőrbe ejt, aki pedig az Úrban bízik, oltalmat nyer.
26 Many people seek a ruler's favour, but the rights of each come from Yahweh.	26 Sokan keresik az uralkodó színét, de az Úrtól jön mindenki ítélete.
27 Abhorrent to the upright is the sinful, abhorrent to the wicked is one whose way is straight.	27 Az igazak utálják a gonosztevőt, a gonoszok pedig attól irtóznak, aki egyenes úton jár. A fiú, aki szót fogad, megmenekszik a romlástól.
