Exodus 24

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.	1 E disse a Mosè: "Sali dal Signore, tu, Aronne, Nadab, Abiu e settanta tra gli anziani d'Israele e vi prostrerete da lontano.
2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'	2 Mosè si avvicini da solo al Signore, ma essi non si avvicinino; il popolo non salirà con lui".
3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'	3 Mosè venne e raccontò al popolo tutte le parole del Signore e tutte le leggi, e tutto il popolo rispose a una sola voce: "Faremo tutte le cose che il Signore ha detto".
4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.	4 Mosè scrisse tutte le parole del Signore. Si alzò al mattino e costruì un altare sotto il monte, con dodici stele per le dodici tribù d'Israele.
5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.	5 Poi mandò alcuni giovani tra i figli d'Israele e offrirono olocausti e immolarono dei torelli come sacrifici di comunione in onore del Signore.
6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.	6 Mosè prese la metà del sangue e la mise in bacini e metà del sangue la versò sull'altare.
7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'	7 Prese il libro dell'alleanza e lo lesse agli orecchi del popolo e dissero: "Faremo e ascolteremo tutto quello che il Signore ha detto".
8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'	8 Mosè prese il sangue e lo versò sul popolo e disse: "Ecco il sangue dell'alleanza, che il Signore ha contratto con voi con tutte queste parole".
9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,	9 Mosè salì, con Aronne, Nadab, Abiu e i settanta anziani d'Israele.
10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,	10 Videro il Dio d'Israele: sotto i suoi piedi c'era come un pavimento in piastre di zaffiro, della purezza dello stesso cielo.
11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.	11 Non stese la sua mano contro i privilegiati dei figli d'Israele: guardarono il Signore, poi mangiarono e bevvero.
12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'	12 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Sali da me sul monte e tienti là: ti darò delle tavole di pietra, la legge e i comandamenti che ho scritto per istruirli".
13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.	13 Mosè si alzò con Giosuè suo servo, e salì sul monte di Dio.
14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'	14 Agli anziani disse: "Restate qui fino a quando ritorneremo da voi. Ecco Aronne e Cur con voi: chi avrà qualcosa si avvicinerà a loro".
15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.	15 Mosè salì sul monte e la nube coprì il monte.
16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.	16 La gloria del Signore dimorò sul monte Sinai e la nube lo coprì per sei giorni: al settimo giorno il Signore chiamò Mosè dal mezzo della nube.
17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.	17 Al vederla, la gloria del Signore era come fuoco divorante in cima al monte, agli occhi dei figli d'Israele.
18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.	18 Mosè entrò nel mezzo della nube, salì sul monte e rimase sul monte quaranta giorni e quaranta notti.
