Esther 7

1 The king and Haman went to Queen Esther's banquet,	1 Andati che furono lo re e Aman alla regina per mangiare con lei,
2 and this second day, during the banquet, the king again said to Esther, 'Tel me your request, QueenEsther. I grant it to you. Whatever you want; even if it is half my kingdom, it is yours for the asking.'	2 e (avendo bene bevuto, ed) essendo lo re caldo di vino, disse alla regina Ester: qual è la tua domanda, Ester, acciò che ti sia data, e quello che tu vuoi che ti sia fatto? (Chiedi securamente, chè) se tu domandassi la metà del reame, la metà del reame sì avrai.
3 'If I have found favour in your eyes, O king,' Queen Esther replied, 'and if it please your majesty, grantme my life -- that is my request; and the lives of my people -- that is what I want.	3 E la regina rispose: se io hoe trovata grazia nel cospetto tuo, e se a te piace ch' io dimandi, pregoti ch' io non muoia, e che il popolo mio non perisca.
4 For we have been handed over, my people and I, to destruction, slaughter and annihilation; had wemerely been sold as slaves and servant-girls, I should not have said anything; but in the present case, it wil bebeyond the persecutor's means to make good the loss that the king is about to sustain.'	4 Però che con grandi inganni io e il popolo mio ti siamo accusati, perchè noi muoiamo; e piacesse a Dio che più tosto ci avessi venduti per ischiavi e per servi (e avessi posti in grandi fatiche); sarebbe male da portare, e piagnendo saremmo contenti; e costui (che questo hae ordinato, per sua falsità) la benignità dello re hae mutata in grande crudeltà.
5 King Ahasuerus interrupted Queen Esther, 'Who is this man?' he exclaimed. 'Where is the man who hasthought of doing such a thing?'	5 E lo re (con grande ira) disse: chi è costui che hae avuta tanta potenza e tanto ardire? (Molto me ne maraviglio).
6 Esther replied, 'The persecutor, the enemy? Why, this wretch Haman!' Haman quaked with terror in thepresence of the king and queen.	6 Rispose la regina: il nemico e il perseguitatore nostro, pessimo uomo, è Aman. E udendo Aman nominarsi, venne tutto meno; e non ardiva d' alzare gli occhi innanzi al re, nè innanzi alla regina.
7 In a rage the king got up from the banquet and went into the palace garden; while Haman, realising thatthe king was determined on his ruin, stayed behind to beg Queen Esther for his life.	7 Lo re turbato (con malo animo) levossi da tavola, e andonne nel giardino dove erano molti arbori. Aman si levò per pregare la regina, gli dovesse perdonare; perciò ch' egli conobbe l'ira del re, e perciò egli ebbe grande paura.
8 When the king came back from the palace garden into the banqueting hal , he found Haman sprawledacross the couch where Esther was reclining. 'What!' the king exclaimed. 'Is he going to rape the queen in myown palace?' The words were scarcely out of his mouth than a veil was thrown over Haman's face.	8 E lo re, tornando dentro, vidde stare Aman ove la regina si posava. E allora il re disse (a coloro ch' erano con lui): non basta ad Aman quello che ha fatto, che anche vuole fare in mia presenza villania alla regina nella casa mia. E giammai niuna altra parola disse lo re ad Aman; e sùbito coprirono la faccia sua.
9 In the royal presence, Harbona, one of the officers, said, 'There is that fifty-cubit gal ows, too, whichHaman ran up for Mordecai, who spoke up to the king's great advantage. It is al ready at his house.' 'Hang himon it,' said the king.	9 (Ma i servi, vedendo il re adirato), disse uno, che si chiamava Arbona, eunuco del re: (santa corona), questo Aman pessimo avea fatto fare uno paro di forche, le quali sono alte cinquanta cubiti, in casa sua per appiccare Mardocheo (il quale vi deliberoe dalla morte). E lo re comandò incontanente, che vi fosse posto suso Aman.
10 So Haman was hanged on the gal ows which he had erected for Mordecai, and the king's wrathsubsided.	10 E così fu impiccato sopra quelle, forche le quali avea fatte per impiccare Mardocheo; e la ira del re cessò fatto questo; (sì che chi gitterà la pietra inverso Iddio, ispesso interviene che sopra il capo suo gli ritorna. E così intervenne ad Aman, uomo pessimo e malizioso).
