1 Now, when the wal had been rebuilt and I had hung the doors, the gatekeepers (the singers and theLevites) were then appointed.	1 E dopo che fu edificato il muro, e poste le porte, e numerai i portieri e' cantori e' Leviti,
2 I entrusted the administration of Jerusalem to my brother Hanani, and to Hananiah the commander ofthe citadel, for he was a more trustworthy, God-fearing man than many others.	2 comandai ad Anani mio fratello, e ad Anania principe della casa di Ierusalem; però che costui era uomo (quasi più) verace, e parea che temesse Dio più degli altri;
3 I said to them, 'The gates of Jerusalem must not be opened until the sun gets hot; and the doors mustbe shut and barred before it begins to go down. Detail guards from the residents of Jerusalem, each to his post,in front of his own house.'	3 e dissi loro: non si aprino le porte di Ierusalem persino al calore del sole. E anco essendo io presente, sono le porte chiuse e otturate; e puosi le guardie degli abitatori di Ierusalem, tutti secondo che li toccava, e ciascuno dirimpetto alla casa sua.
4 The city was large and spacious but the population was smal , and the houses had not been rebuilt.	4 La città era grande molto e lata; e dentro v'era poco popolo, e le case non erano edificate.
5 My God then inspired me to assemble the nobles, the officials and the people for the purpose of takinga census by families. I discovered the genealogical register of those who had returned in the first group, andthere I found entered:	5 E diede Iddio nel mio cuore, e congregai gli nomini principali e' magistrati e il popolo, acciò ch' io li numerassi; e trovato lo libro del numero loro, di quelli che vennero prima, fu trovato scritto in esso.
6 These are the people of the province who returned from the captivity of the Exile, those whomNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his owntown.	6 Questi sono i figliuoli della provincia i quali vennero della pregione di quelli che Nabucodonosor re avea condotto in Babilonia, e tornorono in Ierusalem e in Giudea, ciascuno nella sua cittade.
7 They were the ones who arrived with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani,Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:	7 Li quali vennero con Zorobabel: Iosue, Neemia, Azaria, Raamia, Naamani, Mardocheo, Belsam, Mesfarat, Begoai, Naum, Baana. 71 The gifts made by the rest of the people amounted to twenty thousand gold drachmas, two thousandsilver minas, and sixty-seven priestly robes.	71 E da' principi delle famiglie fu dato nel tesoro dell' opera, dramme XX migliaia [d' oro], e mine duo migliaia [e CC] d'ariento.
72 The priests, the Levites and some of the people lived in Jerusalem and thereabouts; the singers, thegatekeepers, and the temple slaves in their appropriate towns; and al the other Israelites, in their own towns.Now when the seventh month came round -- the Israelites being in their towns-	72 [E diede il rimanente popolo] dramme venti migliaia [d' oro] e mine due migliaia d'ariento, e tuniche sacerdotali sessantasette.
