Genesis 2

NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 Thus heaven and earth were completed with al their array.	1 Так закінчено небо й землю з усіма її оздобами.
2 On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh dayafter al the work he had been doing.	2 Бог закінчив сьомого дня своє діло, що його творив був, і спочив сьомого дня від усього свого діла, що творив був.
3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after al his work ofcreating.	3 І благословив Бог сьомий день і освятив його; того бо дня спочив Бог від усього свого діла, що творячи зробив був.
4 Such was the story of heaven and earth as they were created. At the time when Yahweh God madeearth and heaven	4 Таке було походження неба й землі, коли сотворено їх. — Коли Господь Бог творив небо й землю,
5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God hadnot sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to til the soil.	5 не було ще на землі ніякої польової рослини й не росла ще ніяка трава на полі, бо Господь Бог не посилав дощу на землю, і не було людини, щоб порати землю.
6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and watered al the surface of the soil.	6 Але виходила волога з землі й напувала всю поверхню землі.
7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, andman became a living being.	7 Тоді Господь Бог утворив чоловіка з земного пороху та вдихнув йому в ніздрі віддих життя, і чоловік став живою істотою.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which is in the east, and there he put the man he hadfashioned.	8 Господь Бог насадив сад у Едемі, на сході, й оселив там чоловіка, що його був утворив.
9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, withthe tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.	9 І виростив Господь Бог із землі всяке дерево, принадне на погляд і добре для поживи, і дерево життя посеред саду та й дерево пізнання добра й зла.
10 A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided to make four streams.	10 З Едему ж виходила ріка, щоб зрошувати сад, і звідти розділялась вона на чотири течії.
11 The first is named the Pishon, and this winds al through the land of Havilah where there is gold.	11 Ім’я першої — Пішон; це та, що обтікає ввесь Хавіла-край, де є золото.
12 The gold of this country is pure; bdel ium and cornelian stone are found there.	12 А золото цього ж краю добре. Там же є пахуча смола й онікс-камінь.
13 The second river is named the Gihon, and this winds all through the land of Cush.	13 Ім’я другої ріки — Гіхон; вона обтікає ввесь Куш-край.
14 The third river is named the Tigris, and this flows to the east of Ashur. The fourth river is theEuphrates.	14 Ім’я третьої ріки — Тигр; вона тече на схід від Ашшуру. Четверта ж ріка — Ефрат.
15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.	15 Узяв Господь Бог чоловіка й осадив його в Едемському саді порати його й доглядати його.
16 Then Yahweh God gave the man this command, 'You are free to eat of al the trees in the garden.	16 Та й дав Господь Бог чоловікові таку заповідь: «З усякого дерева в саду їстимеш;
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat; for, the day you eat of that, youare doomed to die.'	17 з дерева ж пізнання добра й зла не їстимеш, бо того самого дня, коли з нього скуштуєш, напевно вмреш».
18 Yahweh God said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone. I shal make him a helper.'	18 Тоді сказав Господь Бог: «Не добре чоловікові бути самому; сотворю йому поміч, відповідну для нього».
19 So from the soil Yahweh God fashioned al the wild animals and al the birds of heaven. These hebrought to the man to see what he would call them; each one was to bear the name the man would give it.	19 І сотворив Господь Бог з землі всіляких польових звірів і всіляких птахів піднебесних і привів їх до чоловіка побачити, як він назве їх; як саме чоловік назве кожне живе сотворіння, щоб воно так і звалось.
20 The man gave names to al the cattle, al the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helpersuitable for the man was found for him.	20 І дав чоловік назви всякій скотині, всякому птаству піднебесному і всякому звірові польовому, але для чоловіка не знайшлося помочі, йому придатної.
21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fal into a deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of hisribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.	21 Тоді Господь Бог навів глибокий сон на чоловіка, і коли він заснув, узяв одне з його ребер і затулив те місце тілом.
22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.	22 Потім з ребра, що його взяв від чоловіка, утворив Господь Бог жінку і привів її до чоловіка.
23 And the man said: This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be cal edWoman, because she was taken from Man.	23 І чоловік сказав: «Це справді кість від моїх костей і тіло від мого тіла. Вона зватиметься жінкою, бо її взято від чоловіка».
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they becomeone flesh.	24 Так то полишає чоловік свого батька й матір і пристає до своєї жінки, і стануть вони одним тілом.
25 Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.	25 А були вони обоє, чоловік і його жінка, нагі, та (одне одного) не соромилися.
