1 Five days later the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and an advocate, a certain Tertullus, and they presented formal charges against Paul to the governor.	1 Cinco días después, el Sumo Sacerdote Ananías bajó con algunos ancianos y un abogado llamado Tértulo, para presentar delante del gobernador la acusación que tenían contra Pablo.
2 When he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, "Since we have attained much peace through you, and reforms have been accomplished in this nation through your provident care,	2 Hicieron comparecer a Pablo, y Tértulo presentó la acusación en estos términos: «Excelentísimo Félix: La profunda paz de que gozamos gracias a ti y las reformas que nuestra nación debe a tu gobierno,
3 we acknowledge this in every way and everywhere, most excellent Felix, with all gratitude.	3 constituyen para nosotros, siempre y en todas partes, un motivo de inmensa gratitud.
4 But in order not to detain you further, I ask you to give us a brief hearing with your customary graciousness.	4 Como no queremos importunarte demasiado, te ruego que nos escuches un momento con tu habitual cordialidad.
5 We found this man to be a pest; he creates dissension among Jews all over the world and is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazoreans.	5 Hemos comprobado que este hombre es una verdadera peste: él suscita disturbios entre todos los judíos del mundo y es uno de los dirigentes de la secta de los nazarenos.
6 He even tried to desecrate our temple, but we arrested him.	6 Ha intentado incluso profanar el Templo, y por eso, nosotros lo detuvimos. Queríamos juzgarlo de acuerdo con nuestra Ley,
7	7 pero intervino el tribuno Lisias, que lo arrancó violentamente de nuestras manos
8 If you examine him you will be able to learn from him for yourself about everything of which we are accusing him."	8 y ordenó a sus acusadores que comparecieran delante de ti. Si lo interrogas, tú mismo reconocerás que nuestros cargos contra él son bien fundados».
9 The Jews also joined in the attack and asserted that these things were so.	9 Los judíos ratificaron esto, asegurando que era verdad.
10 Then the governor motioned to him to speak and Paul replied, "I know that you have been a judge over this nation for many years and so I am pleased to make my defense before you.	10 Cuando el gobernador hizo señas a Pablo de que hablara, este respondió: «Con entera confianza voy a defender mi causa, por sé que gobiernas esta nación desde hace varios años.
11 As you can verify, not more than twelve days have passed since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.	11 Como tú mismo puedes averiguarlo, no hace todavía doce días que subí en peregrinación a Jerusalén
12 Neither in the temple, nor in the synagogues, nor anywhere in the city did they find me arguing with anyone or instigating a riot among the people.	12 y nunca se me vio ni en el Templo, ni en las sinagogas, ni en la ciudad, discutiendo con alguien o amotinando a la gente.
13 Nor can they prove to you the accusations they are now making against me.	13 Ellos tampoco pueden probarte aquello de lo que me acusan ahora.
14 But this I do admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our ancestors and I believe everything that is in accordance with the law and written in the prophets.	14 Pero sí te confieso que sirvo al Dios de mis padres, siguiendo el Camino que mis acusadores consideran una secta. Creo en todo lo que está contenido en la Ley y escrito en los Profetas,
15 I have the same hope in God as they themselves have that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous.	15 y tengo la misma esperanza en Dios que ellos tienen: la esperanza de que habrá una resurrección de justos y pecadores.
16 Because of this, I always strive to keep my conscience clear before God and man.	16 Por eso trato de conservar siempre una conciencia irreprochable delante de Dios y de los hombres.
17 After many years, I came to bring alms for my nation and offerings.	17 Después de unos cuantos años, vine a traer limosnas a mis compatriotas y a presentar ofrendas.
18 While I was so engaged, they found me, after my purification, in the temple without a crowd or disturbance.	18 Así fue cómo algunos judíos de la provincia de Asia me encontraron en el Templo: yo me había purificado y no estaba provocando ninguna clase de amotinamiento ni de tumulto.
19 But some Jews from the province of Asia, who should be here before you to make whatever accusation they might have against me--	19 Son ellos los que hubieran debido presentarse ante ti para acusarme, si tenían alguna queja contra mí.
20 or let these men themselves state what crime they discovered when I stood before the Sanhedrin,	20 Por lo menos, que digan los que están aquí de qué delito me encontraron culpable cuando comparecí delante del Sanedrín.
21 unless it was my one outcry as I stood among them, that 'I am on trial before you today for the resurrection of the dead.'"	21 A no ser que se trate de lo único que dije, puesto de pie en medio de ellos: «Hoy ustedes me juzgan a causa de la resurrección de los muertos».
22 Then Felix, who was accurately informed about the Way, postponed the trial, saying, "When Lysias the commander comes down, I shall decide your case."	22 Félix, que estaba muy bien informado de todo lo concerniente al Camino del Señor, postergó la causa, diciendo: «Cuando descienda de Jerusalén el tribuno Lisias, me expediré en este asunto».
23 He gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but have some liberty, and that he should not prevent any of his friends from caring for his needs.	23 Después ordenó al centurión que custodiara a Pablo, pero dejándole una cierta libertad y sin impedir que sus amigos lo atendieran.
24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He had Paul summoned and listened to him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.	24 Algunos días después, se presentó Félix con su mujer Drusila, que era judía. El mandó llamar a Pablo y lo oyó hablar acerca de la fe en Jesucristo.
25 But as he spoke about righteousness and self-restraint and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, "You may go for now; when I find an opportunity I shall summon you again."	25 Pero cuando Pablo se puso a tratar sobre la justicia, la continencia y el juicio futuro, Félix, lleno de temor, le respondió: «Por ahora puedes irte; te volveré a llamar en la primera ocasión».
26 At the same time he hoped that a bribe would be offered him by Paul, and so he sent for him very often and conversed with him.	26 Al mismo tiempo, él esperaba que Pablo le diera dinero, y por eso lo hacía llamar frecuentemente para conversar con él.
27 Two years passed and Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. Wishing to ingratiate himself with the Jews, Felix left Paul in prison.	27 Al cabo de dos años, Porcio Festo sucedió a Félix; y como este quería congraciarse con los judíos, dejó a Pablo en la prisión.
