Zechariah 8

1 This word of the LORD of hosts came: Thus says the LORD of hosts:	1 E fu fatta la parola di Dio (a me), e disse:
2 I am intensely jealous for Zion, stirred to jealous wrath for her.	2 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: io hoe amato Sion con grande amore, e ora l'hoe amata con grande indegnamento.
3 Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and I will dwell within Jerusalem; Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.	3 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: io sono ritornato a Sion, e abiterò nel mezzo di Ierusalem; e Ierusalem sarà chiamata Città di verità; e il monte (della casa) del Signore delli esèrciti (sarà lo) Monte santificato.
4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women, each with staff in hand because of old age, shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem.	4 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: ancora abiteranno li vecchi, e l'uomo pieno d' anni nelle piazze di Ierusalem; e li uomini staranno colli bastoncelli in mano per la moltitudine delli dì.
5 The city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets.	5 E le piazze della città saranno ripiene di fanciulli e di fanciulle, e trastullerannosi nelle sue piazze.
6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Even if this should seem impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people, shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also, says the LORD of hosts?	6 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: se parrà che sia malagevole nelli occhi delli antichi di questo popolo in quel tempo, or (non) sarà malagevole a me, [dice lo Signore delli eserciti]?
7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Lo, I will rescue my people from the land of the rising sun, and from the land of the setting sun.	7 [Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti]: ecco, io salverò lo mio popolo della terra d'oriente, e della terra di ponente.
8 I will bring them back to dwell within Jerusalem. They shall be my people, and I will be their God, with faithfulness and justice.	8 E menorolli, e abiteranno nel mezzo di Ierusalem; e saranno a me in popolo, e io sarò a loro. Iddio, nella veritade e nella giustizia.
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who in these days hear these words spoken by the prophets on the day when the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid for the building of the temple.	9 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: sieno confortate le vostre mani di voi, i quali udite in questi di queste parole per la bocca de' profeti, nel dì che fu fondata la casa del Signore delli esèrciti, acciò che lo tempio fusse edificato.
10 For before those days there were no wages for men, or hire for beasts; those who came and went had no security from the enemy, for I set every man against his neighbor.	10 E inanzi a quelli dì non aveano li uomini merito, e non era prezzo di bestiame; e niuno che entrasse e che uscisse avea pace per la tribulazione; e lasciai tutti li uomini, ciascuno contra il suo prossimo.
11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in former days, says the LORD of hosts,	11 Ma ora io non farò secondo li dì che sono andati, alli rimanenti di questo popolo, dice lo Signore delli eserciti.
12 for it is the seedtime of peace: the vine shall yield its fruit, the land shall bear its crops, and the heavens shall give their dew; all these things I will have the remnant of the people possess.	12 Ma sarà seme di pace; la vigna darà il suo frutto, e la terra darà li suoi germogli, e li cieli daranno la loro rugiada; e farò che li rimanenti di questo popolo possederanno tutte queste cose.
13 Just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you that you may be a blessing; do not fear, but let your hands be strong.	13 E sarete; come eravate la maledizione nelle [genti, la] terra di Giuda, e la casa d' Israel, così salverò voi, e sarete benedizione; non temete; confortate le vostre mani.
14 Thus says the LORD of hosts: As I determined to harm you when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I did not relent,	14 Però che questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: com' io pensai d' affliggere voi, conciosia cosa che li vostri padri provocassono me ad ira,
15 so again in these days I have determined to favor Jerusalem and the house of Judah; do not fear!	15 e io non ebbi misericordia; così convertito io pensai in questi dì di far bene a Ierusalem e alla casa di Giuda; non temete.
16 These then are the things you should do: Speak the truth to one another; let there be honesty and peace in the judgments at your gates,	16 Queste sono le parole che voi farete; parli ciascuno verità col suo prossimo; e giudicate la verità e il giudicio di pace nelle vostre porte.
17 and let none of you plot evil against another in his heart, nor love a false oath. For all these things I hate, says the LORD.	17 E niuno pensi male contro al suo prossimo nelli vostri cuori, e non amate lo giuramento bugiardo; però che tutte queste cose sono, le quali ho avuto in odio, dice lo Signore Iddio.
18 This word of the LORD of hosts came to me:	18 E fu fatta la parola del Signore delli esèrciti a me, e disse:
19 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The fast days of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months shall become occasions of joy and gladness, cheerful festivals for the house of Judah; only love faithfulness and peace.	19 [Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti]: lo digiuno del quarto dì, e lo digiuno del V dì, e lo digiuno del VII dì, e lo digiuno del X dì sarà [al] la casa di Giuda in godimento e in allegrezza e in ispeciali solennitadi; ma pure amate la veritade e la pace.
20 Thus says the LORD of hosts: There shall yet come peoples, the inhabitants of many cities;	20 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: perchè vengono li popoli, e àbitano in molte cittadi;
21 and the inhabitants of one city shall approach those of another, and say, "Come! let us go to implore the favor of the LORD"; and, "I too will go to seek the LORD."	21 e vanno li abitatori l'uno all' altro, e dicono: andiamo, e preghiamo la faccia di Dio, e domandiamo lo Signore delli esèrciti; e anderovvi an ch' io.
22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to implore the favor of the LORD.	22 E verranno molti popoli, e le genti robuste, per addomandare lo Signore delli esèrciti in Ierusalem, e per pregare la faccia sua.
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."	23 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: in quelli dì, ne' quali piglieranno X uomini di tutte le lingue delle genti, e piglieranno l'orlo dell' uomo Giudeo, e diranno: noi andremo con voi; però che udimmo che il Signore è con voi.
