The LORD said to Moses,1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
"Take Aaron and his sons, together with the vestments, the anointing oil, the bullock for a sin offering, the two rams, and the basket of unleavened food.2 'Take Aaron and with him his sons, the vestments, the anointing oil, the bul for the sacrifice for sin, thetwo rams and the basket of unleavened bread.
Then assemble the whole community at the entrance of the meeting tent."3 Then cal the whole community together at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.'
And Moses did as the LORD had commanded. When the community had assembled at the entrance of the meeting tent,4 Moses did as Yahweh ordered; the community gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,
Moses told them what the LORD had ordered to be done.5 and Moses said to them, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered to be done.'
Bringing forward Aaron and his sons, he first washed them with water.6 He made Aaron and his sons come forward and washed them with water.
Then he put the tunic on Aaron, girded him with the sash, clothed him with the robe, placed the ephod on him, and girded him with the embroidered belt of the ephod, fastening it around him.7 He then dressed him in the tunic, passed the waistband round his waist, vested him in the robe and putthe ephod on him. He then put the waistband of the ephod round his waist, fastening it to him.
He then set the breastpiece on him, with the Urim and Thummim in it,8 He put the breastplate on him, and placed the urim and thummim in it.
and put the miter on his head, attaching the gold plate, the sacred diadem, over the front of the miter, at his forehead, as the LORD had commanded him to do.9 He put the turban on his head, and on the front of the turban, the golden flower; this was the symbol ofholy consecration, which Yahweh had prescribed to Moses.
Taking the anointing oil, Moses anointed and consecrated the Dwelling, with all that was in it.10 Moses then took the anointing oil and anointed the Dwel ing and everything inside it, to consecratethem.
Then he sprinkled some of this oil seven times on the altar, and anointed the altar, with all its appurtenances, and the laver, with its base, thus consecrating them.11 He sprinkled the altar seven times and anointed the altar and its accessories, the basin and its stand,to consecrate them.
He also poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head, thus consecrating him.12 He then poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to consecrate him.
Moses likewise brought forward Aaron's sons, clothed them with tunics, girded them with sashes, and put turbans on them, as the LORD had commanded him to do.13 Moses then made Aaron's sons come forward; he dressed them in tunics, passed the waistbandsround their waists and put on their head-dresses, as Yahweh had ordered him.
When he had brought forward the bullock for a sin offering, Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.14 He then had the bull for the sacrifice for sin brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands onthe victim's head
Then Moses slaughtered it, and taking some of its blood, with his finger he put it on the horns around the altar, thus purifying the altar. He also made atonement for the altar by pouring out the blood at its base when he consecrated it.15 and Moses slaughtered it. He then took the blood and with his finger put some of it on the horns on thecorners of the altar to purify the altar. He then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar, which heconsecrated by performing the rite of expiation over it.
Taking all the fat that was over the inner organs, as well as the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys with their fat, Moses burned them on the altar.16 He then took all the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneys and their fat;and he burnt this on the altar,
The bullock, however, with its hide and flesh and offal he burned in the fire outside the camp, as the LORD had commanded him to do.17 but the bul 's skin, its meat and its offal he burnt outside the camp, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
He next brought forward the holocaust ram, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.18 He then had the ram for the burnt offering brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on theram's head
When he had slaughtered it, Moses splashed its blood on all sides of the altar.19 and Moses slaughtered it. He poured its blood al around the altar.
After cutting up the ram into pieces, he burned the head, the cut-up pieces and the suet;20 He then quartered the ram and burned the head, the quarters and the fat.
then, having washed the inner organs and the shanks with water, he also burned these remaining parts of the ram on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD, as the LORD had commanded him to do.21 He then washed the entrails and shins, and burnt the whole ram on the altar, as a burnt offering, offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Then he brought forward the second ram, the ordination ram, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.22 He then had the other ram brought forward, the ram for the investiture sacrifice. Aaron and his sonslaid their hands on its head
When he had slaughtered it, Moses took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron's right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.23 and Moses slaughtered it. He took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, on thethumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
Moses had the sons of Aaron also come forward, and he put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. The rest of the blood he splashed on the sides of the altar.24 He then made Aaron's sons come forward and he put some of the blood on the lobes of their rightears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Next, Moses poured the rest of theblood al around the altar.
He then took the fat: the fatty tail and all the fat over the inner organs, the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys with their fat, and likewise the right leg;25 He then took the fat: the tail, al the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneysand their fat, and the right thigh.
from the basket of unleavened food that was set before the LORD he took one unleavened cake, one loaf of bread made with oil, and one wafer; these he placed on top of the portions of fat and the right leg.26 From the basket of unleavened bread placed before Yahweh, he took an unleavened cake, a cake ofbread made with oil, and a wafer; he placed these on the fat and the right thigh,
He then put all these things into the hands of Aaron and his sons, whom he had wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.27 and put it al into Aaron's hands and those of his sons, and made the gesture of offering beforeYahweh.
When he had received them back, Moses burned them with the holocaust on the altar as the ordination offering, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.28 Moses then took them away from them and burned them on the altar, with the burnt offering. This wasthe investiture sacrifice, offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh.
He then took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before the LORD; this was Moses' own portion of the ordination ram. All this was in keeping with the LORD'S command to Moses.29 Moses then took the forequarter and made the gesture of offering before Yahweh. This was the portionof the ram of investiture that reverted to Moses, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Taking some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar, Moses sprinkled with it Aaron and his vestments, as well as his sons and their vestments, thus consecrating both Aaron and his vestments and his sons and their vestments.30 Moses then took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkledAaron and his vestments, and his sons and their vestments, with it. In this way he consecrated Aaron and hisvestments and his sons and their vestments.
Finally, Moses said to Aaron and his sons, "Boil the flesh at the entrance of the meeting tent, and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of the ordination offering, in keeping with the command I have received: 'Aaron and his sons shall eat of it.'31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, 'Cook the meat at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and eatit there, as also the bread of the investiture sacrifice stil in the basket of the investiture offerings, as I ordered, when I said, "Aaron and his sons must eat it."
What is left over of the flesh and the bread you shall burn up in the fire.32 What remains of the meat and bread you wil burn.
Moreover, you are not to depart from the entrance of the meeting tent for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed; for your ordination is to last for seven days.33 For seven days you wil not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, until the time of your investitureis complete; for your investiture wil require seven days.
The LORD has commanded that what has been done today be done to make atonement for you.34 Yahweh has ordered us to do as we have done today to perform the rite of expiation for you;
Hence you must remain at the entrance of the meeting tent day and night for seven days, carrying out the prescriptions of the LORD; otherwise, you shall die; for this is the command I have received."35 hence, for seven days, day and night, you wil remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting observingYahweh's ritual; do this, and you wil not incur death. For this was the order I received.'
So Aaron and his sons did all that the LORD had commanded through Moses.36 So Aaron and his sons did everything that Yahweh had ordered through Moses.
