Psalms 33

1 Rejoice, you just, in the LORD; praise from the upright is fitting.	1 Exsultate, iusti, in Domino; rectos decet collaudatio.
2 Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; on the ten-stringed lyre offer praise.	2 Confitemini Domino in cithara, in psalterio decem chordarum psallite illi.
3 Sing to God a new song; skillfully play with joyful chant.	3 Cantate ei canticum novum, bene psallite ei in vociferatione,
4 For the LORD'S word is true; all his works are trustworthy.	4 quia rectum est verbum Domini, et omnia opera eius in fide.
5 The LORD loves justice and right and fills the earth with goodness.	5 Diligit iustitiam et iudicium; misericordia Domini plena est terra.
6 By the LORD'S word the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.	6 Verbo Domini caeli facti sunt, et spiritu oris eius omnis virtus eorum.
7 The waters of the sea were gathered as in a bowl; in cellars the deep was confined.	7 Congregans sicut in utre aquas maris, ponens in thesauris abyssos.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all who dwell in the world show reverence.	8 Timeat Dominum omnis terra, a facie autem eius formident omnes inhabitantes orbem.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be, commanded, and it stood in place.	9 Quoniam ipse dixit, et facta sunt, ipse mandavit, et creata sunt.
10 The LORD foils the plan of nations, frustrates the designs of peoples.	10 Dominus dissipat consilia gentium, irritas facit cogitationes populorum.
11 But the plan of the LORD stands forever, wise designs through all generations.	11 Consilium autem Domini in aeternum manet, cogitationes cordis eius in generatione et generationem.
12 Happy the nation whose God is the LORD, the people chosen as his very own.	12 Beata gens, cui Dominus est Deus, populus, quem elegit in hereditatem sibi.
13 From heaven the LORD looks down and observes the whole human race,	13 De caelo respexit Dominus, vidit omnes filios hominum.
14 Surveying from the royal throne all who dwell on earth.	14 De loco habitaculi sui respexit super omnes, qui habitant terram,
15 The one who fashioned the hearts of them all knows all their works.	15 qui finxit singillatim corda eorum, qui intellegit omnia opera eorum.
16 A king is not saved by a mighty army, nor a warrior delivered by great strength.	16 Non salvatur rex per multam virtutem, et gigas non liberabitur in multitudine virtutis suae.
17 Useless is the horse for safety; its great strength, no sure escape.	17 Fallax equus ad salutem, in abundantia autem virtutis suae non salvabit.
18 But the LORD'S eyes are upon the reverent, upon those who hope for his gracious help,	18 Ecce oculi Domini super metuentes eum, in eos, qui sperant super misericordia eius,
19 Delivering them from death, keeping them alive in times of famine.	19 ut eruat a morte animas eorum et alat eos in fame.
20 Our soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and shield.	20 Anima nostra sustinet Dominum, quoniam adiutor et protector noster est;
21 For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust.	21 quia in eo laetabitur cor nostrum, et in nomine sancto eius speravimus.
22 May your kindness, LORD, be upon us; we have put our hope in you.	22 Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te.
