Psalms 16

1 A miktam of David. Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge	1 Inno. Di Davide. Custodiscimi, o Dio: in te mi rifugio.
2 I say to the Lord, you are my Lord, you are my only good.	2 Ho detto al Signore: "Il mio Signore sei tu, al di sopra di te non ho alcun bene".
3 Worthless are all the false gods of the land. Accursed are all who delight in them.	3 Per i santi che sono sulla terra sta tutto il suo zelo; Egli rende mirabile in essi tutto il suo favore.
4 They multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Blood libations to them I will not pour out, nor will I take their names upon my lips.	4 Moltiplicano i loro affanni quanti si affrettano verso un dio straniero. Io non verserò le loro libagioni di sangue, né i loro nomi porterò sulle mie labbra.
5 LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you have made my destiny secure.	5 Signore, sorte della mia eredità e mia coppa, tu tieni saldo nelle tue mani il mio destino;
6 Pleasant places were measured out for me; fair to me indeed is my inheritance.	6 le corde sono cadute per me in terreno ubertoso, la mia eredità mi piace davvero!
7 I bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my heart exhorts me.	7 Benedirò il Signore che mi ha dato consiglio, anche di notte mi ammoniscono i miei reni.
8 I keep the LORD always before me; with the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken.	8 Il Signore sta sempre dinanzi ai miei occhi: se sta alla mia destra, non vacillerò.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure,	9 Per questo è lieto il mio cuore e gioisce il mio intimo, perfino la mia carne riposa al sicuro.
10 For you will not abandon me to Sheol, nor let your faithful servant see the pit.	10 Sì, non consegnerai la mia anima in preda agli inferi, non permetterai al tuo fedele di scendere nella tomba.
11 You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.	11 Mi farai conoscere la via della vita: gioia in abbondanza alla tua presenza, delizia alla tua destra senza fine.
