Psalms 125

A song of ascents. Like Mount Zion are they who trust in the LORD, unshakable, forever enduring.1 A Canticle in steps. When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion, we became like those who are consoled.
As mountains surround Jerusalem, the LORD surrounds his people both now and forever.2 Then our mouth was filled with gladness and our tongue with exultation. Then they will say among the nations: “The Lord has done great things for them.”
The scepter of the wicked will not prevail in the land given to the just, Lest the just themselves turn their hands to evil.3 The Lord has done great things for us. We have become joyful.
Do good, LORD, to the good, to those who are upright of heart.4 Convert our captivity, O Lord, like a torrent in the south.
But those who turn aside to crooked ways may the LORD send down with the wicked. Peace upon Israel!5 Those who sow in tears shall reap in exultation.
When departing, they went forth and wept, sowing their seeds.
But when returning, they will arrive with exultation, carrying their sheaves.
