Job 8

1 Bildad the Shuhite spoke out and said:	1 Allora Bildad il suchita prese la parola e disse:
2 How long will you utter such things? The words from your mouth are like a mighty wind!	2 "Fino a quando dirai simili cose, e un vento impetuoso saranno le parole della tua bocca?
3 Does God pervert judgment, and does the Almighty distort justice?	3 Può forse Dio far deviare il giudizio, e l'Onnipotente sconvolgere la giustizia?
4 If your children have sinned against him and he has left them in the grip of their guilt,	4 Se i tuoi figli hanno peccato contro di lui, egli li ha abbandonati alla loro iniquità.
5 Still, if you yourself have recourse to God and make supplication to the Almighty,	5 Se tu ricercherai Dio, e implorerai l'Onnipotente,
6 Should you be blameless and upright, surely now he will awake for you and restore your rightful domain;	6 se sei onesto e retto, certamente fin d'ora veglierà su di te e ti ristabilirà nella tua giustizia.
7 Your former state will be of little moment, for in time to come you will flourish indeed.	7 La tua primitiva condizione sarà poca cosa accanto al tuo magnifico futuro.
8 If you inquire of the former generations, and give heed to the experience of the fathers	8 Interroga, di grazia, le generazioni passate e rifletti sull'esperienza dei loro padri;
9 (As we are but of yesterday and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are but a shadow),	9 noi infatti siamo di ieri e non sappiamo nulla, poiché i nostri giorni sulla terra sono come un'ombra.
10 Will they not teach you and tell you and utter their words of understanding?	10 Ma essi ti istruiranno, ti informeranno traendo le parole dal loro cuore.
11 Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the reed grass flourish without water?	11 Cresce forse il papiro fuori della palude e si sviluppa forse il giunco senz'acqua?
12 While it is yet green and uncut, it withers quicker than any grass.	12 Ancora in germoglio, non buono per tagliarlo, si secca prima di tutte le altre verdure.
13 So is the end of everyone who forgets God, and so shall the hope of the godless man perish.	13 Tale è il destino di coloro che dimenticano Dio, e così svanisce la speranza dell'empio.
14 His confidence is but a gossamer thread and his trust is a spider's web.	14 La sua fiducia è come un filo e una tela di ragno è la sua sicurezza.
15 He shall rely upon his family, but it shall not last; he shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.	15 Cerca appoggio sulla sua casa, ma essa non tiene, vi si aggrappa, ma essa non regge.
16 He is full of sap before sunrise, and beyond his garden his shoots go forth;	16 E' albero rigoglioso in faccia al sole e sopra il giardino si spandono i suoi rami;
17 About a heap of stones are his roots entwined; among the rocks he takes hold.	17 le sue radici s'intrecciano nella pietraia, esplora i crepacci delle rocce.
18 Yet if one tears him from his place, it will disown him: "I have never seen you!"	18 Ma se lo si strappa dal suo posto, questo lo rinnega: "Non ti ho mai visto".
19 There he lies rotting beside the road, and out of the soil another sprouts.	19 Ecco la sorte della sua vita, mentre altri rispuntano dalla terra.
20 Behold, God will not cast away the upright; neither will he take the hand of the wicked.	20 Vedi, Dio non rigetta l'uomo integro né presta man forte ai malfattori.
21 Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing.	21 Può ancora colmare la tua bocca di sorriso e le tue labbra di giubilo.
22 They that hate you shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.	22 Coloro che ti odiano saranno coperti di vergogna e la tenda degli empi sparirà".
