NEW AMERICAN BIBLE | KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA |
---|---|
Job took up his theme anew and said; | 1 Jób ismét folytatta mondását és így szólt: |
Oh, that I were as in the months past! as in the days when God watched over me, | 2 »Bár úgy lennék, mint a hajdani hónapokban, azokban a napokban, amikor Isten még óvott engem, |
While he kept his lamp shining above my head, and by his light I walked through darkness; | 3 amikor lámpása a fejem fölött ragyogott, és sötétben is az ő világosságánál jártam; |
As I was in my flourishing days, when God sheltered my tent; | 4 úgy, mint java-korom napjain voltam, amikor sátramban titkon Isten lakozott, |
When the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were round about me; | 5 amikor még velem volt a Mindenható, és gyermekeim körülöttem voltak; |
When my footsteps were bathed in milk, and the rock flowed with streams of oil; | 6 amikor tejben fürösztöttem lábamat, s a szikla kedvemért olajtól patakzott. |
When I went forth to the gate of the city and set up my seat in the square- | 7 Amikor a város kapujához kimentem, a piacon nekem ülést készítettek, |
Then the young men saw me and withdrew, while the elders rose up and stood; | 8 az ifjak, amikor megláttak, félrevonultak, az öregek pedig felkeltek s állva maradtak, |
The chief men refrained from speaking and covered their mouths with their hands; | 9 az előkelők abbahagyták a beszédet, és ujjukat szájukra tették, |
The voice of the princes was silenced, and their tongues stuck to the roofs of their mouths. | 10 a főemberek visszafojtották hangjukat, és nyelvük ínyükhöz tapadt. |
Whoever heard of me blessed me; those who saw me commended me. | 11 A fül, amely hallott, boldognak hirdetett, a szem, amely látott, bizonyságot tett felőlem, |
For I rescued the poor who cried out for help, the orphans, and the unassisted; | 12 azért, mert megmentettem a szegényt, ha kiáltozott, s az árvát, akinek nem volt gyámola, |
The blessing of those in extremity came upon me, and the heart of the widow I made joyful. | 13 a veszni induló áldása szállott rám, s az özvegy szívét megvigasztaltam, |
I wore my honesty like a garment; justice was my robe and my turban. | 14 az igazság ruháját vettem magamra, mint a palást és fejdísz, úgy burkolt igaz ítéletem. |
I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame was I; | 15 Szeme voltam a vaknak, lába a sántának. |
I was a father to the needy; the rights of the stranger I studied, | 16 Atyja voltam a szegényeknek, az ismeretlen ügyét is gondosan kivizsgáltam. |
And I broke the jaws of the wicked man; from his teeth I forced the prey. | 17 Összetörtem a gonosz állkapcsát, kiragadtam fogai közül a prédát. |
Then I said: "In my own nest I shall grow old; I shall multiply years like the phoenix. | 18 Azt hittem, saját fészkemben halok meg, és megsokasítom napjaimat, mint a pálma; |
My root is spread out to the waters; the dew rests by night on my branches. | 19 gyökereimet vízek mellé mélyesztem, és harmat hull éjjel ágaimra, |
My glory is fresh within me, and my bow is renewed in my hand!" | 20 hírnevem folyton megújul, s az íj újjáéled kezemben. |
For me they listened and waited; they were silent for my counsel. | 21 Akik hallottak engem, várták döntésemet, csöndben figyeltek tanácsomra; |
Once I spoke, they said no more, but received my pronouncement drop by drop. | 22 szavaimhoz semmit sem mertek hozzátenni, rájuk szálltak beszédem csöppjei, |
They waited for me as for the rain; they drank in my words like the spring rains. | 23 áhítva vártak engem, mint az esőt, szájukat epedve tátották, mint a tavaszi záporra. |
When I smiled on them they were reassured; | 24 Ha rájuk mosolyogtam, el sem hitték, és arcom ragyogása nem maradt hatás nélkül. |
mourners took comfort from my cheerful glance. I chose out their way and presided; I took a king's place in the armed forces. | 25 Ha közéjük kívántam menni, első helyre ültettek; bár úgy ültem, mint a király, akit hadsereg áll körül, mégis a szomorkodókat vigasztaltam. |
