1 In the seventh year, Jehoiada took courage and entered a conspiracy with certain captains: Azariah, son of Jehoram; Ishmael, son of Jehohanan; Azariah, son of Obed; Masseiah, son of Adaiah; and Elishaphat, son of Zichri.	1 El año séptimo, Yehoyadá cobró ánimo y envió a buscar a los jefes de cien, a Azarías, hijo de Yerojam; a Ismael, hijo de Yehojanán; a Azarías, hijo de Obed; a Maaseías, hijo de Adaías, y a Elisafat, hijo de Zikrí; concertando un pacto con ellos,
2 They journeyed about Judah, gathering the Levites from all the cities of Judah and also the heads of the Israelite families. When they had come to Jerusalem,	2 recorrieron Judá y reunieron a los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá, y a los cabezas de familia de Israel, que vinieron a Jerusalén.
3 the whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. Jehoiada said to them: "Here is the king's son who must reign, as the LORD promised concerning the sons of David.	3 Toda la asamblea hizo alianza con el rey en la Casa de Dios; Yehoyadá les dijo: «Aquí tenéis al hijo del rey que ha de reinar, como dijo Yahveh de los hijos de David.
4 This is what you must do: a third of your number, both priests and Levites, who come in on the sabbath must guard the thresholds,	4 Esto es lo que tenéis que hacer: Un tercio de vosotros, así sacerdotes como levitas, los que entráis el sábado, se quedarán de porteros en las entradas;
5 another third must be at the king's palace, and the final third at the Foundation Gate, when all the people will be in the courts of the LORD'S temple.	5 otro tercio, en la casa del rey; y otro tercio, en la casa del Fundamento; mientras que todo el pueblo estará en los atrios de la Casa de Yahveh.
6 Let no one enter the LORD'S house except the priests and those Levites who are ministering. They may enter because they are holy; but all the other people must observe the prescriptions of the LORD.	6 Nadie podrá entrar en la Casa de Yahveh fuera de los sacerdotes y los levitas que estén de servicio; éstos podrán entrar por estar consagrados, pero todo el pueblo tiene que guardar el precepto de Yahveh.
7 The Levites shall surround the king on all sides, each with his weapon drawn. Whoever tries to enter the house must be slain. Stay with the king wherever he goes."	7 Los levitas se pondrán en torno al rey, cada uno con sus armas en la mano, y cualquiera que penetre en la Casa, morirá. Sólo ellos acompañarán al rey cuando entre y cuando salga».
8 The Levites and all Judah did just as Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each brought his men, those who were to come in on the sabbath as well as those who were to depart on the sabbath, since Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed any of the divisions.	8 Los levitas y todo Judá hicieron cuanto les había mandado el sacerdote Yehoyadá. Tomó cada uno a sus hombres, tanto los que entraban el sábado como los que salían el sábado; pues el sacerdote Yehoyadá no exceptuó a ninguna de las secciones.
9 Jehoiada the priest gave the captains the spears, shields and bucklers of King David which were in the house of God.	9 El sacerdote Yehoyadá entregó a los jefes de cien las lanzas y los escudos, grandes y pequeños, del rey David, que se hallaban en la Casa de Dios,
10 He stationed all the people, each with his spear in hand, from the southern to the northern extremity of the enclosure, around the altar and the temple on the king's behalf.	10 y apostó a todo el pueblo, cada uno con sus armas en la mano, desde el ala oriental de la Casa hasta el ala occidental, entre el altar y la Casa, para que rodeasen al rey.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, set the crown and the insignia upon him, and made him king. Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they cried, "Long live the king!"	11 Hicieron salir entonces al hijo del rey y le pusieron la diadema y el Testimonio. Le proclamaron rey; Yehoyadá y sus hijos le ungieron y gritaron: «¡Viva el rey!».
12 When Athaliah heard the din of the people running and acclaiming the king, she went to the people in the temple of the LORD.	12 Al oír Atalía los gritos del pueblo que corría y aclamaba al rey, vino a la Casa de Yahveh, donde estaba el pueblo,
13 She looked, and there was the king standing beside his pillar at the entrance, the officers and the trumpeters around him, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, while the singers with their musical instruments were leading the acclaim. Athaliah tore her garments and cried out, "Treason! treason!"	13 miró, y vio al rey en pie junto a la columna, a la entrada, y a los jefes y las trompetas junto al rey, a todo el pueblo de la tierra, lleno de alegría, que tocaba las trompetas, y a los cantores que, con instrumentos de música, dirigían los cánticos de alabanza. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos y gritó: «¡Traición, traición!»
14 Then Jehoiada the priest sent out the captains who were in command of the army; he said to them: "Take her outside through the ranks, and if anyone tries to follow her, let him die by the sword. For," the priest continued, "you must not put her to death in the LORD'S temple."	14 Pero el sacerdote Yehoyadá dio orden a los jefes de cien, que estaban al frente de las tropas, y les dijo: «Hacedla salir de las filas, y el que la siga que sea pasado a espada». Porque había dicho el sacerdote: «No la matéis en la Casa de Yahveh».
15 So they seized her, and when she arrived at the entrance to the Horse Gate of the palace, they put her to death there.	15 Así pues, ellos echaron mano de ella, y cuando llegó a la casa del rey por el camino de la Entrada de los Caballos, allí la mataron.
16 Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king, that they should be the LORD'S people.	16 Entonces Yehoyadá pactó alianza con todo el pueblo y el rey de que el pueblo sería pueblo de Yahveh.
17 And all the people went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed its altars and images, and they slew Mattan, the priest of Baal, before the altars.	17 Fue después todo el pueblo a la casa de Baal y la derribaron; rompieron sus altares y sus imágenes, y mataron a Matán, sacerdote de Baal, ante los altares.
18 Then Jehoiada gave the charge of the LORD'S temple into the hands of the levitical priests, to whom David had assigned turns in the temple for offering the holocausts of the LORD, as is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and song, as David had provided.	18 Yehoyadá puso centinelas en la Casa de Yahveh, a los órdenes de los sacerdotes y levitas que David había distribuido en la Casa de Yahveh, conforme a lo escrito en la Ley de Moisés, para ofrecer los holocaustos con alegría y cánticos, según las disposiciones de David.
19 Moreover, he stationed guards at the gates of the LORD'S temple so that no one unclean in any respect might enter.	19 Puso porteros junto a las puertas de la Casa de Yahveh para que no entrase ninguno que por cualquier causa fuese inmundo.
20 Then he took the captains, the nobles, the rulers among the people, and all the people of the land, and led the king out of the LORD'S house. When they had come within the upper gate of the king's house, they seated the king upon the royal throne.	20 Después tomó a los jefes de cien, a los notables, a los dirigentes del pueblo y al pueblo entero de la tierra; y haciendo descender al rey de la Casa de Yahveh, entraron por la puerta superior en la casa del rey y le sentaron en el trono del reino.
21 All the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet, now that Athaliah had been put to death by the sword.	21 Todo el pueblo de la tierra estaba contento, y la ciudad quedó tranquila; en cuanto a Atalía, la habían matado a espada.
