1 He conscripted seventy thousand men to carry stone and eighty thousand to cut the stone in the mountains, and over these he placed three thousand six hundred overseers.	1 E fermò il re Salomone di edificare la casa al nome del Signore, e a sè uno palagio.
2 Moreover, Solomon sent this message to Huram, king of Tyre: "As you dealt with my father David, sending him cedars to build a house for his dwelling, so deal with me.	2 E numerò LXX milia d' uomini i quali portassero nelle spalle, LXXX milia i quali tagliassero le pietre nel monte, e loro preposti tremilia secento.
3 I intend to build a house for the honor of the LORD, my God, and to consecrate it to him, for the burning of fragrant incense in his presence, for the perpetual display of the showbread, for holocausts morning and evening, and for the sabbaths, new moons, and festivals of the LORD, our God: such is Israel's perpetual obligation.	3 E mandò a dire ad Iram re di Tiro: sì come tu facesti col mio padre David, e mandastigli legno di cedro, per fare casa a sè, nella quale egli abitoe;
4 And the house I intend to build must be large, for our God is greater than all other gods.	4 così fa meco, acciò ch' io edifichi casa al nome del mio Iddio, e ch' io la consacri ad offerire l'incenso nel cospetto suo, e a fare il fumo delle spezie, e a sempiterna proposizione di pani e olocausti, la mattina e al vespro, ne' sabati e neomenie e solennitadi del nostro Signore Iddio in sempiterno, le quali sono comandate ad Israel.
5 Yet who is really able to build him a house, since the heavens and even the highest heavens cannot contain him? And who am I that I should build him a house, unless it be to offer incense in his presence?	5 E la casa la quale io desidero di edificare è grande; però che il nostro Iddio sì è grande sopra tutti gli Dii.
6 Now, send me men skilled at work in gold, silver, bronze and iron, in purple, crimson, and violet fabrics, and who know how to do engraved work, to join the craftsmen who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom my father David appointed.	6 Onde sarà chi possa bastare ad edificare [a lui] degna casa? Se il cielo e i cieli non possono contenere lui, quanto sono io che a lui possa edificare casa? ma a questo solo, che sia sacrificato lo incenso dinanzi a lui.
7 Also send me boards of cedar, cypress and cabinet wood from Lebanon, for I realize that your servants know how to cut the wood of the Lebanon. My servants will labor with yours	7 E però mandami uno uomo ammaestrato, il quale sappia adoperare in oro, ariento, metallo e ferro e porpora e coccino e iacinto, e che sappia iscolpire le figure, con quelli artefici i quali io hoe meco in Giudea e in Ierusalem, i quali apparecchioe il mio padre David.
8 in order to prepare for me a great quantity of wood, since the house I intend to build must be lofty and wonderful.	8 E mandami legnami di de' pini del monte Libano. Io sanno tagliare il legname nel servi tuoi coi servi miei, cedro, e legni tini e soe che i servi tuoi Libano; e saranno i servi tuoi coi servi miei,
9 I will furnish as food for your servants, the hewers who cut the wood, twenty thousand kors of wheat, twenty thousand kors of barley, twenty thousand measures of wine, and twenty thousand measures of oil."	9 acciò che m' apparecchino molto legname; però che la casa, la quale io desidero di edificare, sì (come) è molto grande e nobile.
10 Huram, king of Tyre, wrote an answer which he sent to Solomon: "Because the LORD loves his people, he has placed you over them as king."	10 E per questo a' servi tuoi operarii, che taglieranno il legname, io gli darò per loro cibo XX milia cori di grano, e altrettanti d' orzo, e XX milia sati d'olio.
11 He added: "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, for having given King David a wise son of intelligence and understanding, who will build a house for the LORD and also a house for his royal estate.	11 E disse Iram re di Tiro, per lettere le quali mandò a Salomone: però che il Signore hae amato il suo popolo, perciò t' ha fatto regnare sopra esso.
12 I am now sending you a craftsman of great skill, Huram-abi,	12 E aggiunse dicendo: benedetto il Signore Iddio d'Israel, il quale fece il cielo e la terra, il quale hae dato a David figliuolo savio e ammaestrato, e con senno e prudenza, a edificare casa al Signore e palazzo a sè.
13 son of a Danite woman and of a father from Tyre; he knows how to work with gold, silver, bronze and iron, with stone and wood, with purple, violet, fine linen and crimson, and also how to do all kinds of engraved work and to devise every type of artistic work that may be given him and your craftsmen and the craftsmen of my lord David your father.	13 Onde io ti mandai uno uomo prudente e savissimo Iram padre mio,
14 And now, let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, oil and wine which he has promised.	14 figliuolo d'una femina delle figliuole di Dan, il padre del quale fu di Tiro, il quale sae lavorare in oro e in ariento e metallo e ferro e marmo e legname, in porpora, iacinto e bisso e coccino; il quale sae scolpire ogni scoltura, e trovare prudentemente ciò che fa bisogno in lavorìo, con esso li tuoi artefici, e con esso gli artefici del mio signore David, tuo padre.
15 For our part, we will cut trees on Lebanon, as many as you need, and float them down to you at the port of Joppa, whence you may take them up to Jerusalem."	15 Il grano, l' orzo, l' olio, il vino, il quale tu, signore mio, hai promesso, mandalo a' servi tuoi.
16 Thereupon Solomon took a census of all the alien men who were in the land of Israel (following the census David his father had taken of them), who were found to number one hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred.	16 Noi taglieremo di Libano tutto il legname che ti farà bisogno, e per mare colle zatte lo arreccheremo in Ioppe; ma a te s'appartenerà farlo portare in Ierusalem.
17 Of these he made seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred overseers to keep the people working.	17 E Salomone annumeroe tutti gli uomini proseliti, i quali erano nella terra d' Israel, dopo la numerazione la quale avea fatta il suo padre David; e trovaronsi centocinquanta migliaia, e tremilia secento.
	18 E fece di loro LXX milia, i quali portassero nelle spalle i pesi, e LXXX milia i quali tagliassere le pietre nelle montagne, e fece III milia [secento] de' prepositi al popolo nelle opere.
