1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jedidah, daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.	1 Восьми лет был Иосия, когда воцарился, и тридцать один год царствовал в Иерусалиме; имя матери его Иедида, дочь Адаии, из Боцкафы.
2 He pleased the LORD and conducted himself unswervingly just as his ancestor David had done.	2 И делал он угодное в очах Господних, и ходил во всем путем Давида, отца своего, и не уклонялся ни направо, ни налево.
3 In his eighteenth year, King Josiah sent the scribe Shaphan, son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, to the temple of the LORD with orders to	3 В восемнадцатый год царя Иосии, послал царь Шафана, сына Ацалии, сына Мешулламова, писца, в дом Господень, сказав:
4 go to the high priest Hilkiah and have him smelt down the precious metals that had been donated to the temple of the Lord, which the doorkeepers had collected from the people.	4 пойди к Хелкии первосвященнику, пусть он пересчитает серебро, принесенное в дом Господень, которое собрали от народа стоящие на страже у порога,
5 They were to be consigned to the master workmen in the temple of the LORD, who should then pay them out to the carpenters, builders, and lumbermen making repairs on the temple,	5 и пусть отдадут его в руки производителям работ, приставленным к дому Господню, а сии пусть раздают его работающим в доме Господнем, на исправление повреждений дома,
6 and for the purchase of wood and hewn stone for the temple repairs.	6 плотникам и каменщикам, и делателям стен, и на покупку дерев и тесаных камней для исправления дома;
7 No reckoning was asked of them regarding the funds consigned to them, because they held positions of trust.	7 впрочем не требовать у них отчета в серебре, переданном в руки их, потому что они поступают честно.
8 The high priest Hilkiah informed the scribe Shaphan, "I have found the book of the law in the temple of the LORD." Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, who read it.	8 И сказал Хелкия первосвященник Шафану писцу: книгу закона я нашел в доме Господнем. И подал Хелкия книгу Шафану, и он читал ее.
9 Then the scribe Shaphan went to the king and reported, "Your servants have smelted down the metals available in the temple and have consigned them to the master workmen in the temple of the LORD."	9 И пришел Шафан писец к царю, и принес царю ответ, и сказал: взяли рабы твои серебро, найденное в доме, и передали его в руки производителям работ, приставленным к дому Господню.
10 The scribe Shaphan also informed the king that the priest Hilkiah had given him a book, and then read it aloud to the king.	10 И донес Шафан писец царю, говоря: книгу дал мне Хелкия священник. И читал ее Шафан пред царем.
11 When the king had heard the contents of the book of the law, he tore his garments	11 Когда услышал царь слова книги закона, то разодрал одежды свои.
12 and issued this command to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, son of Shaphan, Achbor, son of Micaiah, the scribe Shaphan, and the king's servant Asaiah:	12 И повелел царь Хелкии священнику, и Ахикаму, сыну Шафанову, и Ахбору, сыну Михеину, и Шафану писцу, и Асаии, слуге царскому, говоря:
13 "Go, consult the LORD for me, for the people, for all Judah, about the stipulations of this book that has been found, for the anger of the LORD has been set furiously ablaze against us, because our fathers did not obey the stipulations of this book, nor fulfill our written obligations."	13 пойдите, вопросите Господа за меня и за народ и за всю Иудею о словах сей найденной книги, потому что велик гнев Господень, который воспылал на нас за то, что не слушали отцы наши слов книги сей, чтобы поступать согласно с предписанным нам.
14 So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah betook themselves to the Second Quarter in Jerusalem, where the prophetess Huldah resided. She was the wife of Shallum, son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. When they had spoken to her,	14 И пошел Хелкия священник, и Ахикам, и Ахбор, и Шафан, и Асаия к Олдаме пророчице, жене Шаллума, сына Тиквы, сына Хархаса, хранителя одежд, --жила же она в Иерусалиме, во второй части, --и говорили с нею.
15 she said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: 'Say to the man who sent you to me,	15 И она сказала им: так говорит Господь, Бог Израилев: скажите человеку, который послал вас ко мне:
16 Thus says the LORD: I will bring upon this place and upon its inhabitants all the evil that is threatened in the book which the king of Judah has read.	16 так говорит Господь: наведу зло на место сие и на жителей его, --все слова книги, которую читал царь Иудейский.
17 Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, provoking me by everything to which they turn their hands, my anger is ablaze against this place and it cannot be extinguished.'	17 За то, что оставили Меня, и кадят другим богам, чтобы раздражать Меня всеми делами рук своих, воспылал гнев Мой на место сие, и не погаснет.
18 "But to the king of Judah who sent you to consult the LORD, give this response: 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: As for the threats you have heard,	18 А царю Иудейскому, пославшему вас вопросить Господа, скажите: так говорит Господь Бог Израилев, о словах, которые ты слышал:
19 because you were heartsick and have humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard my threats that this place and its inhabitants would become a desolation and a curse; because you tore your garments and wept before me; I in turn have listened, says the LORD.	19 так как смягчилось сердце твое, и ты смирился пред Господом, услышав то, что Я изрек на место сие и на жителей его, что они будут предметом ужаса и проклятия, и ты разодрал одежды свои, и плакал предо Мною, то и Я услышал тебя, говорит Господь.
20 I will therefore gather you to your ancestors; you shall go to your grave in peace, and your eyes shall not see all the evil I will bring upon this place.'" This they reported to the king.	20 За это, вот, Я приложу тебя к отцам твоим, и ты положен будешь в гробницу твою в мире, и не увидят глаза твои всего того бедствия, которое Я наведу на место сие. И принесли царю ответ.
