και ηλθεν πας ισραηλ προς δαυιδ εν χεβρων λεγοντες ιδου οστα σου και σαρκες σου ημεις | 1 Then all of Israel was gathered to David at Hebron, saying: “We are your bone and your flesh. |
και εχθες και τριτην οντος σαουλ βασιλεως συ ησθα ο εξαγων και εισαγων τον ισραηλ και ειπεν κυριος ο θεος σου σοι συ ποιμανεις τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ και συ εση εις ηγουμενον επι ισραηλ | 2 Also, yesterday and the day before, when Saul still reigned, you were the one who led out and brought in Israel. For the Lord your God said to you: ‘You shall pasture my people Israel, and you shall be the leader over them.’ ” |
και ηλθον παντες πρεσβυτεροι ισραηλ προς τον βασιλεα εις χεβρων και διεθετο αυτοις ο βασιλευς δαυιδ διαθηκην εν χεβρων εναντιον κυριου και εχρισαν τον δαυιδ εις βασιλεα επι ισραηλ κατα τον λογον κυριου δια χειρος σαμουηλ | 3 Therefore, all those greater by birth of Israel went to the king at Hebron. And David formed a pact with them before the Lord. And they anointed him king over Israel, in accord with the word of the Lord, which he spoke by the hand of Samuel. |
και επορευθη ο βασιλευς και ανδρες ισραηλ εις ιερουσαλημ αυτη ιεβους και εκει οι ιεβουσαιοι οι κατοικουντες την γην | 4 Then David and all of Israel went to Jerusalem. The same is Jebus, where the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were. |
ειπαν δε οι κατοικουντες ιεβους τω δαυιδ ουκ εισελευση ωδε και προκατελαβετο την περιοχην σιων αυτη η πολις δαυιδ | 5 And those who were living in Jebus said to David: “You shall not enter here.” But David seized the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David. |
και ειπεν δαυιδ πας τυπτων ιεβουσαιον εν πρωτοις και εσται εις αρχοντα και εις στρατηγον και ανεβη επ' αυτην εν πρωτοις ιωαβ υιος σαρουια και εγενετο εις αρχοντα | 6 And he said, “Whoever shall strike the Jebusites first, shall be ruler and commander.” And so Joab, the son of Zeruiah, ascended first, and he was made the leader. |
και εκαθισεν δαυιδ εν τη περιοχη δια τουτο εκαλεσεν αυτην πολιν δαυιδ | 7 Then David lived in the stronghold, and for this reason it was called the City of David. |
και ωκοδομησεν την πολιν κυκλω και επολεμησεν και ελαβεν την πολιν | 8 And he built up the city all around, from Millo even to every side. But Joab built the rest of the city. |
και επορευετο δαυιδ πορευομενος και μεγαλυνομενος και κυριος παντοκρατωρ μετ' αυτου | 9 And David continued advancing and increasing, and the Lord of hosts was with him. |
και ουτοι οι αρχοντες των δυνατων οι ησαν τω δαυιδ οι κατισχυοντες μετ' αυτου εν τη βασιλεια αυτου μετα παντος ισραηλ του βασιλευσαι αυτον κατα τον λογον κυριου επι ισραηλ | 10 These are the leaders of the strong men of David, who assisted him, so that he would become king over all of Israel, in accord with the word of the Lord, which he spoke to Israel. |
και ουτος ο αριθμος των δυνατων του δαυιδ ιεσεβααλ υιος αχαμανι πρωτος των τριακοντα ουτος εσπασατο την ρομφαιαν αυτου απαξ επι τριακοσιους τραυματιας εν καιρω ενι | 11 And this is the number of the robust of David: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, leader among the thirty. He lifted up his spear over three hundred, who were wounded at one time. |
και μετ' αυτον ελεαζαρ υιος δωδαι ο αχωχι ουτος ην εν τοις τρισιν δυνατοις | 12 And after him, there was Eleazar, the son of his uncle, an Ahohite, who was among the three powerful ones. |
ουτος ην μετα δαυιδ εν φασοδομιν και οι αλλοφυλοι συνηχθησαν εκει εις πολεμον και ην μερις του αγρου πληρης κριθων και ο λαος εφυγεν απο προσωπου αλλοφυλων | 13 He was with David in Pasdammim, when the Philistines were gathered to that place for battle. Now the field of that region was full of barley, but the people had fled from the face of the Philistines. |
και εστη εν μεσω της μεριδος και εσωσεν αυτην και επαταξεν τους αλλοφυλους και εποιησεν κυριος σωτηριαν μεγαλην | 14 These men stood in the midst of the field, and they defended it. And when they had struck down the Philistines, the Lord gave a great salvation to his people. |
και κατεβησαν τρεις εκ των τριακοντα αρχοντων εις την πετραν προς δαυιδ εις το σπηλαιον οδολλαμ και παρεμβολη των αλλοφυλων παρεμβεβληκει εν τη κοιλαδι των γιγαντων | 15 Then three from the thirty leaders descended to the rock where David was, to the cave of Adullam, when the Philistines had made camp in the Valley of the Rephaim. |
και δαυιδ τοτε εν τη περιοχη και το συστεμα των αλλοφυλων τοτε εν βαιθλεεμ | 16 Now David was in a stronghold, and a garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem. |
και επεθυμησεν δαυιδ και ειπεν τις ποτιει με υδωρ εκ του λακκου βαιθλεεμ του εν τη πυλη | 17 And then David desired and said, “O if only someone would give me water from the well of Bethlehem, which is at the gate!” |
και διερρηξαν οι τρεις την παρεμβολην των αλλοφυλων και υδρευσαντο υδωρ εκ του λακκου του εν βαιθλεεμ ος ην εν τη πυλη και ελαβον και ηλθον προς δαυιδ και ουκ ηθελησεν δαυιδ του πιειν αυτο και εσπεισεν αυτο τω κυριω | 18 Therefore, these three broke through to the midst of the camp of the Philistines, and they drew water from the well of Bethlehem, which was at the gate. And they took it to David, so that he might drink. But he was not willing; and instead, he offered it as a libation to the Lord, |
και ειπεν ιλεως μοι ο θεος του ποιησαι το ρημα τουτο ει αιμα ανδρων τουτων πιομαι εν ψυχαις αυτων οτι εν ψυχαις αυτων ηνεγκαν αυτο και ουκ εβουλετο πιειν αυτο ταυτα εποιησαν οι τρεις δυνατοι | 19 saying: “Far be it from me, that I would do this in the sight of my God, and that I would drink the blood of these men. For at the peril of their own lives, they brought the water to me.” And for this reason, he was not willing to drink. The three most powerful accomplished these things. |
και αβεσσα αδελφος ιωαβ ουτος ην αρχων των τριων ουτος εσπασατο την ρομφαιαν αυτου επι τριακοσιους τραυματιας εν καιρω ενι και ουτος ην ονομαστος εν τοις τρισιν | 20 Also, Abishai, the brother of Joab, was the leader of the three, and he lifted up his spear against three hundred, who were wounded. And he was most renown among the three, |
απο των τριων υπερ τους δυο ενδοξος και ην αυτοις εις αρχοντα και εως των τριων ουκ ηρχετο | 21 and he was famous among the second three and their leader. Yet truly, he did not reach as far as the first three. |
και βαναιας υιος ιωδαε υιος ανδρος δυνατου πολλα εργα αυτου υπερ καβασαηλ ουτος επαταξεν τους δυο αριηλ μωαβ και ουτος κατεβη και επαταξεν τον λεοντα εν τω λακκω εν ημερα χιονος | 22 Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, from Kabzeel, was a very mature man, who had accomplished many deeds. He struck down the two lions of God from Moab. And he descended and killed a lion in the middle of a pit, in the time of snow. |
και ουτος επαταξεν τον ανδρα τον αιγυπτιον ανδρα ορατον πενταπηχυν και εν χειρι του αιγυπτιου δορυ ως αντιον υφαινοντων και κατεβη επ' αυτον βαναιας εν ραβδω και αφειλατο εκ της χειρος του αιγυπτιου το δορυ και απεκτεινεν αυτον εν τω δορατι αυτου | 23 And he struck down an Egyptian man, whose stature was five cubits, and who had a spear like a weaver’s beam. And yet he descended to him with a staff. And he seized the spear that he was holding in his hand. And he killed him with his own spear. |
ταυτα εποιησεν βαναιας υιος ιωδαε και τουτω ονομα εν τοις τρισιν τοις δυνατοις | 24 These things were done by Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, who was most renowned among the three robust ones, |
υπερ τους τριακοντα ενδοξος ουτος και προς τους τρεις ουκ ηρχετο και κατεστησεν αυτον δαυιδ επι την πατριαν αυτου | 25 the first among the thirty. Yet truly, he did not reach as far as the three. Then David placed him beside his ear. |
